338 Tasting Notes
Day #12 of tea! I wasn’t entirely expecting to like this one, as floral + rooibos? And yet I do, as the fruit in it balances it out. I can definitely taste the rooibos base, and it’s definitely an acquired taste. Not my favourite rooibos blend, but I like it better than some of the other ones I’ve had recently.
Day #11 of tea – Dessert for breakfast today, haha. This is very, very sweet, and reminds me of Red Velvet Cake. Not surprisingly, since this is another cake tea. I’m not sure which one I like better (I had to ad milk to this one to distract from the rooibos taste), but I’m reminded that while these types of teas are tasty after the first few sips, they do become almost too sickly sweet for me to enjoy properly. I think this has proven to me yet again that I prefer my teas a little more tart.
Day #10 of tea! A nice flashback to the summer when I had this blend a couple of times…. I like it, but I never actually bought any of it in tins or anything because it’s just so darn expensive for a herbal tea. I had a sample pack of this that I used for today’s steep, and there was just enough in it to make one cup. Boo and hiss. I also brewed this hot, and I think I like this better iced – but I’m not making iced tea first thing in the morning in December! As it stands, though, I generally love fruity teas, so this will be a pleasant sip down.
Day #9 of tea! After dealing with an appealing smell, the taste of this one if off just enough that I’m going to have to give it a miss. Whatever combination of herbs is in this one just does not do it for me, and I think I’m going to have trouble finishing my mug. :(
Day #8 of tea! This is my first time drinking a plain maté – usually my maté go-to blend is Chocolate Rocket or Main Squeeze. So the lack of an actual flavour in this one is kind of weird on that level, but at the same time, there really is nothing like drinking it as it was originally meant to be. Definitely a grassy taste, but it’s one I don’t mind (at least this morning, as I really need the caffeine jolt, haha). And this is organic, which I also appreciate. This is going to be on my radar for maté now, for sure.
Day #7 of tea! I’m surprised I liked this one as much as I did – normally straight up greens aren’t, pardon the pun, my cup of tea (sorry, I had to…). But I voluntarily went back for a second mug, and then I read that it’s milder and less grassy-tasting than regular senchas. This blend’s a little pricey to have as a regular in my tea stash, but it will definitely get consideration as a once in a while.
Day #6 of the advent calendar and I finally get a white tea! This is one of my favourites (I love strawberry flavoured anything) , but I’m really sad it’s been discontinued. I like my fruit blends, but sometimes I just really want a single fruit flavour to deal with, and for me, this one delivers on that. I will be rationing my stash of this, no doubt.
Day #5 of the advent calendar FINALLY gives me a black tea. Yay. And a straight one, at that. This is pretty good – not my favourite straight black tea that DavidsTea makes (possibly due to the slight malty flavour I’m getting out of this), but I definitely will enjoy this cup this morning.
Mmm, lemon! I was happy to have this one show up today (day #4 of the advent calendar!) to kind of counteract two less than stellar teas earlier in the week. Nice and strong, no extra flavours or ingredients. I think I may have steeped this one for too long, but whatever, I’ll deal. I’d imagine I’ll be adding this one to my cold remedy collection as well, as I imagine this would go good with some honey to aid a sore throat.
