Sil or Evol Ving Ness shared a tea with me that was literally called “Random Milk Oolong”. So I have zero information other than this tea is a milk oolong. It’s a nice milk oolong and I have a couple more servings. It’s light, floral, and milky – read not as rich as Creamy Oolong. Thankfully I think I prefer Creamy Oolong from The Tea Haus, which is good because I know where to get more if I want more when I finish it.

lol im’ going with evol. I hope she’s ok

drank Sweet Potato Pie by DAVIDsTEA

When I don’t know what tea I want, I have a randomizer on my excel spreadsheet to help me choose. When I don’t have my laptop, however, I open up steepster on my phone and ask my sister to pick a number between 1 and 16 (the # of steepster pages I have). Then I ask her to pick a number between 1 and 18 (the # of teas on a page). The last time she did this, she picked this tea and I made a latte.

For the first number, she almost always picks 3 so today I changed the sorting from the default “most drank” to “recently added”, figuring I’d end up with different teas. However, today she went with 12 and somehow magically ended up picking this tea again. I guess she just really wants me to drink my giant bag of sweet potato pie (thanks again Roswell Strange!).

I told Roswell Strange about this and mentioned how I didn’t really want a latte. She told me to make this one anyways since it’s good plain. I was skeptical but she’s right. It’s better as a latte because it gives it much needed body and rounds this out a bit. Plain, it’s still got the nice sweet potato and pastry flavors, it’s just the tiniest bit flat. That’s where the milk helps.

CrowKettle

Hmm.. another one to add to the David’s tea order list.

Sil

it’s good crowkettle. Well at least i also think so lol

Oh I should try picking teas with two numbers…

Made this on the stovetop as a latte like I normally do. When I poured the tea into the mug from the pot, I spilled a bunch down the side of the pot which happened to be over the crack between the stove and the counter. So the kitchen got a bit of a cleaning around the Stove…my bad. It’s good though. Spicy and sweet and just the perfect chai. Worth the mess.

OMGsrsly

I did this with the fridge the other day. My kettle and coffee maker are right beside it…

I know I liked this. I don’t know why. I drank it while I did work so I paid just enough attention to know I liked it.

Made this iced a few hours ago and am only getting to drink it now. Perhaps its because it sat or because its late and my brain is going a bit nutty but this tastes extra marshmallow-y tonight, with a hint of buttered popcorn at the end. I genuinely could not say what would be popcorn-y about this but its there so…yeah.

I pulled this out and had no idea I made this before…which isn’t a good sign. Then I tried it and thought it was mostly rooibos with some orange so I was surprised not only that I tried it but also that it was rated at 78. I’m dropping that since hot this is a rooibos tea with some orange. Guess this will be a cold tea going forward.

I was worried about this one and have been putting it off but today’s #septembersipdown prompt was to go herbal so I decided to just go for it. It’s not as bad as I was expecting – you all know actual herbal-tasting herbals are not my thing and this is a whole lot of sage. It’s fresh so I’m enjoying it but it’s not something I’d ever seek out. Still I was surprised by it so thank you Roswell Strange for sharing!

Iced Tea Sipdown (278)

I made this a long time ago and just didn’t drink it for some reason. The same way I had my laptop open all day and barely did school work. I guess it’s a procrastination day.

Unfortunately because of the procrastination, or maybe just the tea, I am so meh about this. It’s fruity and tastes fine but something about it is just so flat. I find some companies that make “champagne” teas have a way of adding an effervescence too the tea so that even made plain it evokes that sparkling element. This tea doesn’t quite get there so it’s all just ok but also one I don’t mind saying goodbye to…again.

drank Candied Almonds by Tea Please

This one was so weird. Good but weird. Because if I am being honest, I think I expected this to taste like Forever Nuts. Instead, it tasted like a fruity hard candy. I was genuinely confused the first couple sips because of that. I double checked the packaging and after confirming it was in fact Candied Almonds that I brewed, I checked out steepster and was happy to find Roswell Strange had the same experience.

The first sips were all red fruit candy…like strawberry hard candies. The more I drink, the more it tastes like apple candy. Still a fruit candy and not nuts. I don’t know if I need more of this but it’s nice enough and certainly took me by surprise.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
