Backlogging, yesterday during work.
Or, work and work, I was at a course all day and this is what I assume they gave us. It was definitely citrus-y and when you serve a citrus-y tea to a large group of people without bothering to tell them what sort of tea it is, this is usually it.
It was watery weak and synthetically citrus-y. Drinkable, but only for the lack of better. On the next course day, if we’re not having it somewhere where I can pop into my own lab and make me a quick cup, I think maybe I’ll just drink coffee instead.
This tea is best after it has cooled to room temperature. Drinking it cold doesn’t let all the flavors come out; same with drinking it hot. There is something about having a glass of this once it has cooled that is really refreshing.
Not complicated, but lots of fruit flavors. Definitely a must for blueberry fans. No sweetener needed – it’ll confuse all the natural flavors that are in it.
This tea was purchased from a Wegmans grocery store. At the time of this review it did not appear on Harney’s website.
Preparation
Backlogging from yesterday – from Holiday Inn – in-house restaurant…I think it was (Here’s) Howe’s but I am not totally sure. Average Black Tea in a tea bag…good in a pinch – but nothing special…did the job
A friend brought this tea to me all the way from Japan, so I have no idea of the company. It is packaged in a bright red patterned tin. The tea is good, but I have probably had it too long. It is good if you are looking for a green tea with a little more depth. It is a very interesting tea. If you are feeling adventurous, you must give this tea a try!
Preparation
I’m a sucker for anything orange, so of course I got some of this to try. I have no clue who makes this tea but after drinking it, I don’t really care.
Maybe I’m just moody because it’s wet and rainy and traffic was a bear. But this tea? Not so great. It brewed up decently dark but had little flavor other than sweet. And not even a good sweet. More of a sickly, artificial sweet. I couldn’t pick out any apricot or orange flavor. (It was kind of like trying to figure out what flavor the Runts candies are as you eat them. You don’t really know because they don’t actually taste like fruit but they are pretending to be some sort of fruit so you just have to go with it.) But if hard pressed, I would have said this tasted like mango. Not good mango, mind you. Runts mango (they do make a candy in that flavor actually).
And if that wasn’t enough, it left a nasty taste in my mouth, not dissimilar to the aftertaste I get when I have something with Splenda or (worse) Sweet n Low.
Bottom line: not a fan.
You LIKE banana runts? REALLY?
Wow. My entire world view has shifted. I thought it was a fact of life, kind of like gravity. Gravity keeps us from falling off the earth, no one likes banana Runts.
The next time I get a 5lb bag of Runts from Costco, can I send you the bananas?
Wow. Alrighty then. I don’t get the bags too often (because I eat them way too much when I have them) but when I get the next one, I’ll pack all my bananas up for you!
Made this with breakfast. Just as it was finished steeping I remembered I’d neglected to brush my teeth and the tea’s flavor will compete with Morning Mouth Nastiness. Unfortunately, taking a moment to brush my teeth would only make things worse. Having tea compete with the flavors of baking soda or cinnamon or wintergreen would definitely be worse.
Ah Dragonwell… The chocolate of teas.
