First jasmine tea for me. Steeped in a french press.
I’m on my way to discover more teas after the best, the great taste adventure i had with Christmas tea.
I was a little bit disappointed drinking this tea. Bitter. A great jasmine smell. But it’s too early for me i think.
Preparation
This tea is decent. It’s not glorious, but when I want to be lazy or brew Western Style, this is what I go to. The leaves are not of the best quality, but that’s kind of what you paid for with this tea. I only brew this in Western Style, the leaves would simply fall out of my Gaiwan since they have been chopped up a bit.
Overall, a decent tea, but not what I have everyday.

This is not a tea I would typically choose to buy in the supermarket. I am only trying it as I got a bag in my free Twinings sampler pack that I got in the mail.
As soon as you put the water in, it appears cloudy, and there’s a very strong ginger smell – not so much lemon. Despite the strong smell, the flavour was not as off-putting as I had anticipated it to be, although there’s an interesting aftertaste.
Like some others have said, I think this tea could be good with some honey in it if you’re feeling unwell. It’s not my type of tea though.

A very mild, pleasant tea, not bitter, a bit drying on the tongue and palate (I did not experience this when steeped for only 3 minutes). It is a subtle flavor, perhaps better without milk or cream, which can make it taste bland. I prefer the more flavorful Ceylon Orange Pekoe.

I forgot to take the bag our and steeped this for over 8 minutes. I thought it would turn out undrinkable, but I was pleasantly surprised. I added milk and sugar, and the flavor was nice, though it has an astringent drying after taste I don’t like and which seems to be characteristic of Assam teas.

I cold brewed a couple of cups last night, then reheated a cup this morning and added milk and sugar. The taste was good, though more flat and less full-bodied than hot-brewed. I would probably give this cup a 75 out of 100, instead of the 99 out of 100 I would normally give to Twinings Ceylon

After about five or so cups of this tea, I find I like this the best of Twining’s teas. I taste no astringency or bitterness (as with Twining’s Irish and English Breakfast), so I wonder if others have steeped it too long). There is a pleasant orange flavor that is neither faint nor overpowering. The orange is not as “citrusy” as Lady Grey, but neither is it as mild as Prince of Wales.

I’m having a cup of this tea with a bit of milk this afternoon. It’s very much comfort in a cup! I wanted to have a cup of tea that was unflavored and that could be taken with milk. I have a lot of unflavored black teas, but many of them should be had on their own. It’s a very solid, sweet cup that’s just what you need when you want something simple! Not my favorite cup of tea, but just right for today!
Yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to have a special cup of tea. I had a few kinds.. but nothing incredibly special. I couldn’t fully enjoy them because I was suffering from the beginning of a bad cold — sneezing, watery eyes, sore throat, cough, sniffly nose. Not fun. Today, it’s now much worse & at this point, I can’t taste much of anything.
I had a nice cup of this tea & milk earlier today when I could still taste. It was a little bit malty and creamy — very enjoyable. Even if I could taste a bit more, I’m sure I would enjoy this tea for those times when you just need a cup of english breakfast tea & milk. Hopefully this cold goes away quickly and I can get back to sipping my tea & enjoying the holidays!So I have no idea what I did to this tea but it was terrible today. Possibly steeped it too long. Possibly just ruined my tastebuds to plain tea over the last few months of little to no tea drinking. I don’t know but it made this tea very bad this morning. Drank it anyway but wow. Note: pay more attention to steeping this even if it is a plain black bagged tea next time.

Was trying to clear a bit off of my limited counter space and had 2 boxes of this taking up space so I used 8 tea bags (7 in one box and opened the other) to make iced tea in my 2 quart pitcher. Set the kitchen timer for 8 hours since I didn’t do it overnight this time and let it cold steep. Was pretty good about taking it out in time, added one spoonful of sugar (using my sugar spoon, not the tea spoon) for each cup in it (8) and shook it up. Then I let it sit because I was drinking hot tea and I didn’t want the sweetness to screw up my Elderwood.
This morning/afternoon, I tried it out. It’s a bit strong, so I’m letting the ice cubes melt a bit, but otherwise, the tea to sugar ratio is pretty good and it isn’t bad tasting, so I’ll consider this a successful iced tea. I’m historically terrible at iced tea so I take my victories where I can. This is older tea too, I generally keep it around for my mother but she hasn’t visited in the last year and a half or so (I visited her and then we went on a joint trip to London and the family reunion in the summer so it’s not like I didn’t see her at all, plus I call her almost every night), so it was getting old. Not that almost all of my tea collection isn’t super old, but I was justifying.
Anyway, a bit sleep deprived still. Just woke up from a nap and realized that I’d sacrificed half of my second Elderwood steep to a travel mug that was still a bit soapy so had to pour that out. Bleh. Today is full of chores and veterinarian visits (preventative) because tomorrow I go back to work for the first time in more than 5 weeks. Yay successful surgery.

Thanks! My only restriction now is not to lift more than 25 lbs for at least the next 2 weeks, possibly longer depending on healing rates. Everything’s looking pretty good and I’ll be glad to get out of the house more regularly and get more than online social interaction.
