Yay for this tea! I don’t like to add sweeteners to my tea, so I have struggled for a long time with hibiscus teas since they are so tart in nature. This one, however, is splendid with the addition of a bit of stevia leaf in the blend. The blueberry works so beautifully with the hibiscus. Refreshing! It makes me think of Summer!
No other ratings. Huh. Surprising.
I again forgot that Republic of Tea puts stevia leaf in their hibiscus line blends and so oversweetened this sucker. And possibly because of that, it’s too sweet, but the hibiscus is not actually so bad in it. Still, not sure I can drink the rest of this. The stevia lends a flavour to tea that I really do not like at all and I can taste it in this one. Urgh.
Preparation
This is a very smooth tea with coconut slightly breaking through. It was my first hibiscus purchase and I love it for an afternoon tea or late night treat. With this tea, I use some sweetener to bring out the taste and highlight the coconut which is my favorite flavor.
I didn’t log many teas for a while, but now that I’ve started I apparently can’t stop! This one comes to me from Josie Jade and was the tea for the first book club, which I missed due to, well, not having room for a 600 page monster book in my schedule!
I love smokey teas, thought I know they are really love it or hate it. This is actually quite mild, even after an overly long sleep because I didn’t put a timer on. Smells like a campfire! I took this without milk or sugar because I honestly find milk weird in smokey blends, though I know that’s really the norm.
The idea of smoke and rose is so nice. However, this tea doesn’t entirely live up to the idea in my head—it’s smokey but not as strong as I expected, and the rose is on the light side. But it’s still nice, in fact I think it would be a good evening cuppa! I have quite a few bags of this left so I think I might split open one and mix it with RoT’s rose black for an extra floral kick.
I’ve learned that the trick with Republic of Tea teabags is to use little mugs. I actually collect (or rather, er, hoard…) mugs from Japan, which are much smaller than American or European mugs. The one I’m using for this has Teddie from Persona 4 on it! They’re perfectly sized, about the same width as the teabag and they hold enough water so that it brews up extra strong.
I’m so happy Josie Jade sent me this one because I adore it! Brewed up this way the plum is really strong and quite distinctive, like those sugar plum candies you get around Christmas. Which makes sense, it’s a holiday blend! The spice is very nice, and the base is quite forgiving—I didn’t notice this was a green and brewed it in boiling water for an insanely long time (7 minutes? I forgot about it!) and it was not bitter at all! I like that it’s a lighter base, so the plum flavor pops a lot more.
I know RoT doesn’t get a lot of love on Steepster but I have always bee a fan. And as much as I love fancy loose leaf I always have to have reliable bagged teas around because honestly, sometimes I just want no-fuss tea! This one is a keeper.
So I had this when I went to Vermont. It was in a health food store at the cafe area. I was in the mood for a tea and have heard about this company. The cafe had many selections and I was deciding between this one and the earl greyer, I`ll try that one sometime in the future. It had a good taste and I was able to use the bag a second time. I would be tempted to buy a tin of this in the future.
I received a sample of this tea from their catalog. Yay samples!
When I sniffed the tea bag, I only smelled the vanilla. (This could very well be due to my so-so culinary smelling abilities, but eh.) The aroma of the liquor, which had the clear, orange red tint of rooibos, smelled of the pomegranate. When I drank the tea hot, the flavor was tart – maybe partly due to the inclusion of hibiscus. I’ve had more tart teas (see RoT’s hibiscus tea, which I only drink iced), so this wasn’t so bad. The vanilla, meanwhile, appeared during the aftertaste. When the tea cooled to warm, verging lukewarm, it tasted a lot better. The pomegranate was not as tart and the vanilla had more of a presence. I think I would prefer this tea iced. All in all, pretty good.
Preparation
So today I enjoyed my last taste of this flavor until the holiday season comes around again later this year. I admit, I like to steep my tea for a looong time to get the strongest flavor, so I get a lot out of a single tea bag. Add some sugar, a little milk and it’s just a treat, one of my absolute favorite flavors. If RoT ever stops making this, I may go into mourning. (it wouldn’t be the first time)
Preparation
It has been a strange week without cable and internet. I’ve only had a chance to check out Steepster a few times. I’ve also not been drinking much tea this week. I think there’s some connection ;)
I’m at my parents and this was an option. I’m really digging the bright flavor and beautiful purple color. Drinking my 3rd cup as I type.
Short review on this one
They certainly smell the part, but the taste is like a poor clone of my treasured Phoenix Jasmine Pearls. A washed out, shallow flavor. It’s still easy to drink but I miss th depth I normally get with jasmine green teas.
Preparation
Sadly, this tea doesn’t do much for me. I love plum flavored teas, but this one is just too light. It tastes like more of water than anything, and even adding a little sweetener doesn’t bring out any stronger flavors.
-Round natural unbleached teabag.
-Teabag smells of green tea and cinnamon. Tea liquor aroma is lightly of spiced plum.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy yellow color.
-Green tea and cinnamon flavor with a sweet plum finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Fair tea. Hardly any flavor.
