Sample teabag sipdown. This came with the catalog RoT kindly sent to my house. Hooray free tea. It’s not bad. I wish the flavor was a bit stronger – I’m mainly getting faintly spiced black tea. No pumpkin to speak of. Hmm… Oh, there is a tiny smidge of pumpkin there at the very very end and I have to pay attention.
I think what I really want is the tea version of a pumpkin spiced latte and I don’t think it exists, having tried several pumpkin spice teas. I may just break down and have some coffee and try not to taste it under the pumpkin.
Preparation
Random Teabag Sipdown! Thanks to QueenOfTarts for sending this to me with the tea I purchased.
I’m really having trouble telling exactly what fruits make up the tropical flavor. This tea just strikes me as mildly sweet, vaguely tropical, on top of a green base and isn’t the type of tea that would normally appeal to me. For a sweet tea, this wasn’t very sweet, and it had a bit of a bitter aftertaste from the stevia.
Preparation
i have really enjoyed this tea while it’s been in my cupboard. I just wish i could find an alternative for those fall days when i want an apple cider like tea without too much fuss. Anyone out there have any suggestions of the loose leaf variety?
Final Count: 109
Needed something simple to finish the evening off with and figured this would be a good one. I’ve got to get to sleep soon as tomorrow is going to be the start of some serious suckage. Release weekend means 10am to 5am working, which means up earlier than that to get ready/have tea and then home later than that…since we never ever ever make it within the time we plan for. Soooo there goes my weekend. On the upside? I can spend some time working on crap i haven’t had time to do..like my mid year review lol. Downside? grumpy sil with not enough sleep tomorrow haha.
FInal Count: 145 ( 22 days to drink 30 + 15 teas….ignoring the fact that a few ppl have teas that they plan on giving me… haha)
Yep…last tea for today as i snack on a tart from the tea festival this weekend (soooo good!) I’m pretty proud of myself. I organised my cupboard this weekend, bought a bunch of teas at the tea festival and still managed to end the weekend at 173. That means i’m only up 2 teas from January 31, despite having picked up a bunch of teas this weekend. What’s also nice is that i have a plan of attack for the next few teas i need to drink up, which is good since i’ll have tea from my dear swedish chef soon, along with the BBB Box, the Canadian Travelling tea box and my Feb Verdant blends box. I think i’ve also got a swap with variaTEA in the mix and a few others that i told to poke me in feb to swap teas with, so it should be a good time this month.
I like this tea a lot because it’s easy. Toss in a couple bags, let is sit for as long as i want and it’s a tasty hot mess of apple cinnamon goodness. DO i want it all the time? No…but on evenings when i’m super tired and lazy, a couple tea bags of tasty tea is a nice thing to have.
Preparation
I found a couple teabags of this one in my desk drawer this afternoon and had a delicious cup of this one in our afternoon session. It’s the first time in AGES that i’ve been able to actually have another cup of tea while at work beyond my travel mugs so it made me a happy camper :) still like this one in a pinch!
drink drink drink…so much liquid sloshing around in me. lol i love it. when i was little, camping with my parents, i used to drink a lot and then push my tummy in and out at night while we were trying to sleep to listen to the sloshing noises. used to drive my mother nuts :)
Last cup of tea tonight and it’s a good one…though funnily enough i’m drinking it along side the apple crisp i’m eating so it’s like a double dose of delicious apples :)
mmmmm took a bath and had this one with me. Pretty sure it was steeped the entire time i was drinking it and it’s no worse for wear. I’m a fan of teabags/herbals that let you do that since sometimes you just can’t be bothered fishing teabags out, or dealing with loose tea on the go. Still really enjoying this one as a substitute for making actual apple cider.
i had this one to end the evening yesterday. My other half and i went for a walk in the evening, and had dinner out while trying to get a start on talking about this whole wedding thing. I think there’s likely a part of me that does really want a whole wedding/reception etc, but given that we would really like to buy a house in the near-ish future, have kids etc… it’ll likely be a small ceremony at city hall or something and then just a party, no dinner. we can do it all over again in 10 years or something with a big shebang haha
Word of wisdom from an old fuddy-duddy: planning the lifetime together is far more important than planning the wedding :)
haha oh for sure. the practical side of me says, go to city hall and then have a potluck dinner with friends coming over to spend the evening :)
LOL, I was gonna suggest the potluck idea! GMTA!
As a person who usually plays at least one wedding a week, my advice is keep it simple & save your money for other things. It’s amazing what young couple blow their money on, & it adds nothing to the actual meaning of the moment. In the end, everybody ends up in debt. I’ve been told I’m too sensible, LOL. Every year Tony & I do a new year’s day brunch at my house, inviting both of our kids (my 4, his 2). If we ever actually tie the knot, we’re gonna do it on New Years day while we have everyone in one place.
Yeah I don’t care about flowers And that sort of thing….I really just want music to dance to and someone taking pictures so that I don’t have to, since it’s usually me doing it
Hubby and I got married one Sunday afternoon. We were going to just have us and the pastor right after service but some ladies in the church said they wanted to make punch and serve nuts and cake squares, my mother bought me a skirt and blouse, and the pastor announced that anyone who wanted to stay for the wedding could. No expense, no planning, no invitations. LOL! But it took, and we have had 27 years together so far!
Sipdown! Let’s not talk about how many teas i have yet to add TO my cupboard from this weekend…i’ll worry about that tomorrow maybe. Or maybe i’ll just leave this batch out and just add the count without having the teas IN my cupboard…since they’ll be gone soon…i hope. ugh.
This was actually a really nice cup of tea today. Sad to see that it’s a limited edition or seasonal tea as i’d actually consider having this one around for those fall nights i want a caffeine free option :(
(…and cavo…since i know you’re out there lurking and hoping…even with Kittenna’s teas that aren’t in my cupboard i’m only at 278…i picked up 20 teas from her but i AM the sipdown master so ha!)
Hahah. - Good job!
Also, I like the idea of me lurking out there, ready to tease at a moment’s notice.
LOL! I’m starting the day at 269, can you believe THAT? LOL!
I haven’t been that low since…uh…June! :D
I didn’t have any sipdowns today, since I spent the day drinking multiple steeping-type teas. However, I packed a few boxes for friends, & one of them included the last of a couple of my teas, so I may be at 266 too. I’ll check too. ;)
oops, guess what? Since I don’t have the teas from our TeaVivre order yet, I took them off my list, & now I have 266 also!! WooHoo! So we are both starting the day at 266!
Sipdown Duel! It’s on!
OK….I’m doing one sipdown now. That will put me at 265.
If you get it down to 265 today then we can have a sipdown Duel tomorrow, or the day of your choosing :)
haha ok. I’ll see what i can do tonight. I know i have LOTS of little samples i can probably drink tonight to get to 265. heh
I purchased a tin of this for the first time last fall and I have only 2 bags left after this morning. Fall is definitely in the air and my morning walks with my corgi are getting cooler every day so it seemed appropriate to have this one today. I really like the flavor even if it is a bagged tea. Very good flavor, not too much overpowering spice flavor and the second brew isn’t bad either. If I see it at the store, I will probably buy another tin to get me through til next season.
Out of all the Republic of Tea offerings, this one remains my favorite! I brew the loose-leaf variety in my office. I’ve been brewing it using a Mr. Coffee Coffee Brewer, and it works fine.
I looked at the Breville One-Touch Teamaker. Reviews I read were somewhat mixed. There were concerns about plastic parts exposed to the heating element, and potential health problems as a result.
I’d be curious to hear from others about automatic tea makers they brew Yerba Mate Latte in.
Thanks again to whatshesaid for the sample!
This is really pleasant tonight. I’m having it after some Bailey’s Irish Cream and it’s actually a great chaser (to the extent that tea can be a chaser and Bailey’s needs chasing). Next time I think I’ll just pour the booze right into the tea. How have I not thought of adding creamy alcohol to dessert-y teas before?!?
Well this certainly smells like a macaroon! It doesn’t quite taste like one though. There’s a good bit of almond creaminess going on that’s rather pleasant. The aftertaste is closer to macaroon than the sip is. A bit too dry for my taste, but very shredded coconut-y. I usually (really, really) dislike coconut teas, but this is the exception.
This isn’t astounding, but it’s quite solid! Nice for an evening dessert tea. Thanks to whatshesaid for the sample.
Great Canadian Traveling Tea Box
Certainly having fun with the travelling teabox today. I won’t get through them all today but i’m well on my way to being able to package the box up tomorrow…though i may wait until tuesday to add a couple teas that janelle would like to try.
this tea? not too shabby actually. Blackberry it is! i think this would make a really tasty cold brew with a dash of sweetner. Im thinking about just letting this cool off to drink it cold haha. it’s like a juicy tea. There is no sage in this though….like none. So i’ll have to knock off some points for not being the tea it claims to be. but it is tasty. :)
Continued celebration of my mothers birthday by drinking all the pumpkin teas.
I got this as a sample from ROT, so it will be a sample sipdown as well.
This tastes like pumpkin pie spice, which is exactly what it is billed as, isnt it? Its got a decent underlying pumpkin quality which is good. Pie like, and good.
I really enjoy this tea as a comforting drink when things at work are falling apart. I let this steep until the tea is at that perfect drinkable temperature. It’s almost a syrup-like consistency when I let it step that long, but I think that really brings out the peppermint and the smooth chocolate taste. The peppermint and chocolate flavors are both muted, but they blend together wonderfully.
