Good but not great, looks like dried lawn clippings. Not sure why it’s called “Famous Green Cooling Tea”

Apples! And spices! Too bad Republic of Tea doesn’t offer this herbal tisane year round because it is absolutely lovely. A tasty apple and spice.

A surprisingly light and fruity tea. No hint of bitterness to the cup.

Very enjoyable black tea. Not too sweet or fake.

I really don’t like drinking this tea, but my Mom does, so that’s it’s got as high a rating as it does. It’s mild to the point of non-existence, even when steeeped for ten minutes. My Mom has a far more sensitive pallette than I do. But I do highly recommend this tea for all of you Pagans or Wiccans out there who need herbs and spices for magick spells. Vanilla attracts love, cinnamon attracts wealth an luck and star anise attracts … oh, heck, I forget what what it attracts. Probably ‘ease of communication’ or something like that. You can use the tea as is or ground up even more. Cool tea that you don’t want to drink can be used to water plants.

I received a free sample bag of this in the mail today when RoT sent me their current catalog. LOVE the label for the tea but right off the bat there are 2 strikes or potential strike…Cinnamon AND Vanilla. Now…I am NOT saying I HATE them…but I don’t usually go for them. I love Cinnamon just usually not in tea and I can take or leave vanilla in any setting or for any reason. BUT…I’m up for the challenge. It scent is unique – not what I expected. Pleasant yet surprising. It brews quickly into a reddish brown. More Cinnamon than Vanilla after the steep to the nose. I seriously think the Rooibos helped this blend quite a bit. The more I sip – the more I enjoy. Mind you, I also oversteeped. You can taste the cinnamon a bit more than the Vanilla but they blend well with the Rooibos into something satisfying and not overpowering.

I enjoyed this tonight at a wonderful cafe. I was looking forward to trying it as I love vanilla. It is the first red tea I have tasted and I loved the color. The experience was good, but nothing remarkable. I actually couldn’t pick out the vanilla which I found surprising after reading some of the previous tasting notes.

I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon usually, but this was a nice mildly flavored tea. The cinnamon actually sets off the vanilla and rooibos quite nicely. It could have used a little more flavor actually. If I were to drink again, I’d brew it longer. Not a fantastic tea, but it was a free sample, so I can’t really complain.

This is one of my favorite “easy” teas. I always keep it on hand. It’s a great tea for a cold or sore throat. It has an amazing sweet flavor and I only add a little bit of sugar, but it almost doesn’t need any.

This was my first red/rooibos tea. I immediately fell in love with it’s smooth cinnamon spice flavor. I have enjoyed it early in the morning as a gentle wake up. I also enjoy it in the late afternoon with a few shortbread or vanilla cream cookie as a sweet and spicy snack. I am sad that RoT has discontinued Safari Sunset, but will be glad to try the replacement. Meanwhile, I’m going to begin saving and savoring my remaining bags.

I have been looking for a bagged tea like this. For whatever reason, green tea and pomegranate is delightful, though I can’t say it tastes strongly of either, so the blend is pretty decent. Unlike a lot of flavored teas, there’s very little indication of some cheap, chemical flavoring. Keep some sugar handy.

Not too bitter, not too sweet; don’t steep it too long, or I fear the green tea will hiss at you from your teacup (am I the only one that uses teacups anymore?!). If you must use just-boiled water (as I do), steep it for a shorter period than you’d expect. The tea should turn a lovely russet-purple (pomegranate!) color. Perfect for fall, and I bet it’s delicious iced!

I got this tea about three hours ago and have already enjoyed three cups. I can taste the ginger most prominently, but it is a very mild ginger flavor. As the tea cools, the pineapple becomes more prominent, I bet it would be great iced! I usually toss out the end of a cup when the tea gets chilled but I enjoyed this one all the way to the end. I would recommend this to anyone!

Interesting. I can mostly taste the rooibos, which is a little disappointing because I don’t really like rooibos, but it isn’t too bad here. The aroma is chocolatey, and the taste is sweet and a bit like honey (the rooibos), nutty, with a little cocoa. It’s definitely unique and something that will be just the thing when I’m in the mood for it.

Sipped it at first with no milk, it was nice, but the directions said to add a little milk, I will keep this tea around for the holiday season, but like it says on the lid “when it’s gone it’s gone”.

drank Desert Sage by The Republic of Tea
2 tasting notes

Unlike many rooibos teas, this blend does not bury the taste of the rooibos under the other ingredients. While the sage notes are strong, they complement rather than overwhelm the distinct taste and aroma of rooibos. Served iced, this is my absolute favorite tea for drinking while afflicted with a sore throat — the astringency of the brew is very pleasant and does wonders toward soothing inflamed tissues.

I figure by now I have sipped approximately 90% of all The Republic of Tea offerings and I have to say though being one of the very first Republic of Tea teas I tried this tea remains my favorite—as in 3-5 cups a day, every day. Delicate, gently invigorating (lightly caffeinated) and remarkably consistent. I think I have had a so-so barrel maybe three times in the last five years. If you start anywhere with The Republic of Tea and prefer milder teas than greens or blacks, you should really just start here. You will not be disappointed.

Doesn’t taste like much, but still tasted good.

I want to make this word bold.

This tea was pretty good. It has a nice light tangerine flavor and a good green tea flavor.
