Ok – last review of the night! The morning was too chaotic to really enjoy any teas, and it’s only the last 2 hours of the night after TK is sleeping that I really get anything done.

I packed up 4 boxes though, so I get this as a reward before bed!

As soon as I poured it into my cup I was blown away by the rooibos smell. I’ve never noticed that before! But I could also smell the vanilla and the chai.

This is actually a pretty good non-caffeinated tea. It’s not as dark as a black blend would have been, but the vanilla makes it a tad creamy in my mind. I bet this would make a nice latte too. I’d recommend this to someone who wanted soemthing spicy in the evening! I think this is my favourite of the Persimmon samples I’ve had so far!

Also, I know non-caffeinated might not be a real word, but it makes more sense to me than decaffeinated ‘cause that implies it HAD caffeine. Anyway… that’s why I did that. :D

And now I’ve stared at the word “caffeine” long enough that it no longer looks like a recognizable word. I’m going to bed pretty quick.

Well, that is certainly fragrant. The flavour is more mild. Good, but needs vanilla. (I ended up having mine with vanilla almond milk.)

Man! I was looking forward to this one… After the white rose tea I just had yesterday. This is another tea from Stephanie and I don’t know what went wrong but I didn’t smell any mint. After steeping it for the correct amount of time, the water was untouched, not a drop of liquor in it. Not even the slightest discoloration. So I tasted it and it tasted of soap:/ rose soap. No white tea flavor or mint. I have no idea what happened. :/ dang it. It got such great ratings… I wanted this to be good. Ill have to try again some other time. 3 more teas left in Stephanie’s swap. Sip down!

Looks like there are two tea pages for this tea. Oh well. I picked this one! Anyway, had this yesterday, and it’s a solid spicy chai. Only problem is, I’ve been spoiled by some more interesting chai’s (verdant and samovar), so it wasn’t enough for me.

I’m not sure I’ve had green rooibos before… I took this to work, and was drinking it for most of the day. I haven’t had much luck with the other Persimmon samples I got, and didn’t really have much optimism for this one. Pleasantly surprised.
Not the best fruit tea in the world, but it was peachy, light and refreshing. No heavy aftertaste. This is just a nice light summery tea.

Short Sorceress

I didn’t really have much luck with my Persimmon samples either.

So today was an odd day as I was in the hospital for the majority of it (migraines are so much fun). I came home after a long rush hour drive and just wanted something yummy and warm. This was perfect, and I even finished off the sample sachet from my first order with Persimmon Tree. I suppose you could call this a sipdown, but as 1 ounce is on its way, it’s kinda wrong to claim it.

Since I have 1oz coming to me that I ordered from the Labor Day sale, I felt it was ‘ok’ to use more of the sample I bought a few weeks ago. It is still delicious which is good since I will have much more of it soon!

Oh yum! This to me tastes, smells and looks (sans fizz) like cream soda. Granted, I added sweetener, but when do I not? Unlike some of the other dessert teas I’ve tried, with this you get a more full bodied experience and it’s pleasant during the entire sip. The white tea lends the buttery creamy flavor you would expect. So far I’ve gotten two steepings out of 2 teaspoons in my 16oz steeper mug.

Really nice, I’m almost certainly going to order more as I imagine my sample will run out rather quickly.

So, I had a gum graft done yesterday. Cons: (1) no drinking of hot liquids for days….how long, I haven’t quite figured out; (2) no strenuous exercise for 2 weeks; and (3) man, it sure is hard to eat enough soft stuff to feel full. Pros: (1) an excuse to stay home from work and watch movies all day (the Lego Movie is next); and (2) iced tea tastes even better right now. Thus, I’m drinking a large mason jar of this tea, iced, with I think a little bit too much agave. Oh well, I need the extra calories, right?!

The no hot tea is really going to get hard… I love my hot black tea in the morning! :(

ohfancythat

The Lego movie is awesome :)
Hope your mouth feels better soon!

Tealizzy

Thanks, whatshesaid! Yes, the Lego Movie IS awesome!! :)

Mmm, almost as good as DavidsTea’s coconut oolong, when iced! I’m definitely going to be enjoying this tin all summer!

ohfancythat

I also enjoy this one, haven’t tried it cold yet!

Tealizzy

You should! :)

Enjoying a big fat mug of this tea. It’s been so long since I’ve had it! It just wasn’t a flavor I was drawn to during the colder months, but now that it’s warming up, it’s hitting the spot! Next time I will ice this! Can’t wait!!

Mmmm, I really like this one! Almost done with my resteep, and it’s delicious! I added a little of the crystal sugar they send with the sample packs to the second cup, which made it even more dessert-y, but it didn’t really need it. The coconut is very fresh-tasting, and not super overpowering, but definitely present. I think it’s actually very well-balanced with the tea base. This is probably very similar to DavidsTea’s coconut grove, but I only had one cup of that one a few months ago, so I can’t really remember. It would be fun to do a side-by-side. I think I’ve found another winner! :)

Not sure how I feel about this one and the rooibos seeped through my steeping mug which didn’t make the first few sips pleasant. I added some sweetener and it stil almost tastes a bit sour? It tastes and smells faintly like banana and chocolate, but only at the front of the sip.

I’m finding that I like toffee and butterscotch better with white bases then black. They’re kind of buttery and almost too delicate to go that way. I think the base in this is slightly buttery and just a little creamy. I really like the slightly spicy cinnamon notes floating in here too. Yum.

Yvonne

This sounds decadent!

The dry leaf smells like sweet butterscotch candy, surprised me just a little because the ingredients list isn’t quite what you’d expect for butterscotch.

I appreciate the white base they used here because I think it might have sat too heavily otherwise. The mouthfeel as it stands is still mildly heavy and rich. It really captures the essence of being smooth and buttery without overdoing it.

The flavor is a nice savory butterscotchiness that isn’t too terribly sweet, but captures the essence of the candy. There’s a nice spiced note at the tail of the sip that is cinnamon-y and a perfect end note.

I could see sweetener being nice in here, but I really think it was pretty awesome as is.

On a roll with sample sipdowns today! Woohoo! I combined the rest of this tea with the rest of an English breakfast sample I had, and it was pretty good. Maybe I didn’t give this one a fair chance last time. Not sure I would go out of my way for it, but I would happily sip more of it if given the opportunity!

So, I tried this one twice before logging it. The first time, I steeped it for 3 minutes, and the flavor was really weak, so I decided to do a longer steep because I couldn’t tell if it was me or the tea! It’s the tea.

I did a 4 minute steep, and although there is some nice flavor peaking out, it’s barely there. The smell of it puts me off a little because it reminds me of Della Terra’s love in a cup….not sure why that is. The taste is definitely not the same, but it’s a pretty weak vanilla taste. Even the black tea base isn’t very strong. And I can’t figure out, for the life of me, why there are sliced almonds in a vanilla tea (not sure I noticed their flavor though…seeing a pattern here?). I wonder if this one requires a really long steep? Probably won’t ever find out though, because I’m out of tea to experiment with, and I most likely won’t go out of my way for this one. I think I liked periwinkle more. I can see why some get obsessed over finding the perfect vanilla tea now…there are so many and none of them are the same!

This one was a little too artificial peachy for me. Or maybe I just don’t like peach teas? I’ve found I’m pretty particular with fruit-flavored teas. Some I like, some I don’t. This one was not my favorite, but I’m sure others would like it. I did like the white tea base more than I like black tea as a base for peach. It probably would be great iced. I noticed it was a little perfume-y too, like others have said. Kind of like how Della Terra’s perfect pear tea is perfume-y. Glad I got to try it, but I like white guava better!

This is pretty good! Fruity notes and a creamy finish. It still can’t top Della Terra’s Lime Chiffon in my head as far as creamy rooibos teas go, but that’s not this tea’s fault. The hibiscus behaves nicely and only adds the slightest bit of tartness to make the berries pop.

Also, memory is faulty. :P

I’d recommend this to others.

So this is one of the teas I chose for my black tea sampler from The Persimmon Tree. Did not like it as much as the others that I’ve tried so far. The dry leaves and the tea itself both smelled a bit like sour apple, which I was not expecting. The taste was tart with a minty aftertaste. Not a huge fan. I didn’t even really detect the peach taste or scent in it. I will not be repurchasing (sad because I had such high hopes for this one).

I don’t even know what Lychee tastes like, although I should buy one some day and try it! This was one of the samples I scooped for $1 and I’m glad to have tried it. It’s a happy jumble of fruit, and I can definitely recognize the peach and the apricot.

If I didn’t have enough fruity teas at the moment I would definitely consider picking up a bit more of this one. It’s quiet enjoyable, and I suspect it would be tasty iced.

Got a sample of this tea due to an order mishap, but I do have to commend the Persimmon Tree for promptly correcting it! Great customer service!

Anyway, I thought I would give this one a try, even though I tend to stay away from earl grey in general. I thought I might like this one, since it has the promise of vanilla in addition to bergamot. I do like earl grey-like teas that have something additional in them (Harney’s Paris for example).

This earl grey has very bright flavor. The bergamot was pretty strong, and very lemon-y in this case. I did get some vanilla, but for me, it wasn’t enough to round out the brightness of the bergamot. Earl grey lovers may like this one though.

I’d have to agree with you on liking Earl Grey with a little something else in it. :)

And another sipdown today! This tea was pretty fabulous. I loved the vanilla flavor. Wouldn’t mind getting more, but I’m making room for others! Yippee!!

I enjoyed two steepings of this with my first attempt at pumpkin scones. They turned out a little odd…kinda wet inside even though the knife came out clean (must of picked the wrong spots) and I baked them for as long as other scones. I think the pumpkin made the dough wetter. I didn’t even use as much buttermilk this time. Despite this, they were YUMMY! Just not the same consistency as usual. Wetter, like pumpkin pie. I’m not gonna complain though! This deliciously vanilla tea went extremely well with them.
