Yum yum yummy vanilla deliciousness! So glad I have a whole tin of this tea now! Although it does look so tiny next to the white teas. White teas are just so dang lightweight! The second steep was just as yummy as the first. Definitely need to remember to steep this one for 4 minutes to get the best flavor and not be afraid that the white tea will get astringent. It’s amazing!

Finished off the rest of my sample of this, and I have to say I really like it. I tried other black and white tea blends, but this one is the best so far. It must be the addition of vanilla. As a follow-up to my first note on this tea, it didn’t matter that the white tea star wasn’t in this steep. Still tasted the same. I will probably pick up more of this when I reorder from the persimmon tree!

Tried this one out this morning. The sample size is bigger than 1 cup worth, but there was only one white tea flower in there, which I used for this cup. I hope the flavor isn’t lost if you don’t have a white tea flower. I guess I’ll find out with the second cup, but that would be a bummer. I found the flavor of this tea to be similar to other teas like this. I got notes of vanilla, and maybe even a little chocolate. There was some other spice note I couldn’t quite figure out…maybe nutmeg or cinnamon? It was a little astringent at a 4-minute steep, so maybe it would be better at 3 minutes. It’s always that balance between flavor and astringency when it comes to steep times. I think I’ll have to have that second cup before deciding to buy more of this one, but I did enjoy it!

Sadly, a sipdown. Well, technically I have a teeny bit left, but not enough for its own cup, so I’ll probably experiment with blending it with something else. Anyway, I brought it to keep me company on my first day of my last semester in school (probably ever). Today, it tasted a little sweeter than normal. Not sure if that is due to scent contamination in my tea drawer or just my sleepy state, but it was quite pleasant. Considering my love for EBs, and this one in particular, I will probably reorder this at some point when I allow myself to buy teas again.

I’m obsessed with my new cast iron teapot, and seeing how it may not fit in my luggage back to Boston, I brewed up a nice strong pot of this English Breakfast this morning. The day was a bit draining, so I resteeped when I got back. Unfortunately, I only have enough tea left for one more cuppa :(

There is always room for tea and teaware. There might not be room for shoes or clothes or other inconsequential things, but that’s beside the point.

Haha true! I’ll just wear all my winter clothes onto the plane :P

So I’m back in California for a bit and found a way to easily transport a bunch of tea samples and a tea ball with me, so I’m anticipating a few sipdowns while I’m here. I started off this morning with a nice strong cup of this English Breakfast. Even though the semester is over, I still have a take-home final that I need to work on, so I’m sipping on this to wake up my brain. Maybe later today I will reward myself with some very much missed In-N-Out!

Either I kept this sample too close to my Jasmine Passion sample in the cupboard or my tea tumbler retained Jasmine Passion flavors from the last time I used it or both because what I’m getting out of this tea today is slight Jasmine Passion notes with the strong black tea that I was expecting. Or maybe three hours of sleep is making me crazy because I was deciding between the two this morning. In any case, a good tea to sip on in class to keep me awake.

A nice, smooth, simple black tea to accompany my simple sandwich for lunch. A great hassle-free but delicious combination for an otherwise hectic and stressful day.

Hm, I thought I had rated this tea before, but I guess not? Anyway, I slept in today and brewed some of this as soon as I woke up. I was actually late to a picnic because I didn’t want to rush through the rest of my cup and burn myself. Oh how my priorities have changed.. I like my straight black teas on the weak side, so I think I’ll get a lot more out of this sampler than my other flavored blacks, hooray! While I love my flavored teas, it’s nice to have that nice, dark, clean taste of black tea every once in a while. This tea definitely fits the bill. Clean, smooth, and definitely on my list for reorder.

This is only the second English Breakfast tea that I’ve ever had and the first one I brewed myself, so I don’t have a lot of reference. That being said, I really like this one. It tastes light and smooth, not too bitter. I got this as one of my samplers from The Persimmon Tree, but I’m definitely thinking of buying more!

I have banana and coconut teas I enjoy, so I gave this one a shot. The rooibos base is smooth and not overpowering. The taste is primarily chamomile with a hint of banana. I don’t taste coconut at all.

Overall, not bad, but not amazing, either. I’m happy I got the sample size.

My first tea from the Persimmon Tree!

This was delicious! Exactly like guava, and like others have said, it even has that thick mouthfeel like guava juice does. I thought the amount of flavoring was well balanced…not too much and not too little. I enjoyed it without sugar, which is pretty awesome, since I would rather not have to doctor up any teas other than black teas.

This is a winner! Can’t wait to try the other samples I got!

Btw, I steeped it at 180 degrees for 3 minutes.

What I learned today. Ceylon is not my favorite black tea. I didn’t like this at all. Really astringent, reminds me of over steeped red rose tea bags. I don’t know enough to judge if this is what all ceylon is like or if it’s just this version. This was not for me. Put the last in the fridge to cold steep. Hoping it is better that way.

Edit: If it’s possible, I thought this was even worse cold. Nope can’t do it. I don’t like it.

Don’t give up on Ceylon! LOL! High grown ones turn me off but I love the low grown. Maybe you can get a sample of Nina’s? I hear it is really good. I get a great one in Chaoel Hill, NC called Ceylon Extra Fancy that has the biggest leaves you have ever seen!

Dexter

Thanks ashmanra. I’ll take your advice and not give up on them, will try a couple more. I didn’t really expect this to be high end black tea, but was disappointed that it was almost undrinkable. Will try and source some from another vendor.

A juicy lychee black tea to bring some cheer into a morning class on a snowy day. I’d say that this tea did its job for today.

I had an unusually hard time waking up this morning for class, so I brought this with me to keep me awake during lecture. It did its job well enough for today. Unfortunately, this tea didn’t make it into my reorder from Persimmon Tree this time around, but I’ll be savoring what I have left.

I woke up unusually early today, so I actually had time for a proper breakfast, hooray! Afterward, though, I felt overly stuffed, so I opted to take a light, fruity tea to class in my tumbler. I’m kind of in denial that the weather is getting cold and the seasons are changing, and this tea helped me deal with that with the contrast between it’s peppy lychee flavor and the solid black tea base. That being said, I should probably move on to some fall tea samples that I bought recently…

I have mixed feelings about lychee as the fruit itself. I like the flavor but not so much the texture. This tea solves that problem for me because it definitely has a punch of lychee flavor. I’m not tasting as much of the peach and other fruits, but I’ve been drinking a lot of peachy teas lately, so that might have something to do with it.
Anyway, I received this as part of my sampler from Persimmon Tree and I’m definitely thinking of buying more of it!

I tried making this three times before both the sample and my patience had been exhausted. This peeps instead of pops, and each time I was left craving something richer and more powerful. Adding milk was the only way to salvage some enjoyment from it, but even then it just wasn’t for me.

While packing up my room, as I am moving to San Luis Obsipo this weekend after signing my lease on saturday, I sipped on this with breakfast. I love all chai’s and I was very satisfied with this one. Probably one of my new favorites. As it sits though and cools it does tend to get bitter. I will have to try this one as a latte and iced:) Very happy with this persimmon tree tea.

Central coast in the house! Ok I feel slightly embarrassed saying that. We used to have our family reunion in SLO. I took a boat tour in morro bay, fell asleep seasick on said tour, and was attacked by a seagull.

Wow interesting visit

One day my palate will be sophisticated enough so that I don’t have to add sweetener to everything, but until then…

I tried this hot unsweetened and I could barely taste the peach, but I did taste the buttery notes of the white tea. I made this at work where I can’t control the temperature and it was a little bitter. Maybe it will perform better with my variable temperature kettle.

When I added sweetener, it was much more pleasant. It is actually lighter in peach flavor than the Adagio version. I can see some people preferring this one due to the lightness of the peach. I had brought a whole bunch of tea samples to work so that I could drink based on my mood, but I think I’ll stick to greens, blacks and oolongs and reserve whites for home when I can control the temp.

I was so excited to steep this one this morning and take it to work. I am a coconut fanatic, but… im afraid this one was a miss for me. it was a very thick brew and I agree with some of the tasting reviews that it did taste a little like coconut milk and coconut water, which I am ashamed to admit, but I have no liking for either. It also had somewhat of an artificial taste to it. I really liked the white tea base though. I must try this as a cold brew though, as from what I can see from previous reviews, those that did not enjoy it hot, did however enjoy it cold so I will have to try sometime this week! and will change my rating then:) But for now, the verdict is a no, for now.

Now I’m really curious to try this one, for better or for worse.

Wow, this tea has a lot of positive reviews. I (yeah, I know, I’m a tough critic :p ) wasn’t impressed.

This is a very strong hay/barley flavored white tea with no detectable strawberry flavor. I’m not quite sure there was any guava either, though I don’t remember exactly what a guava tastes like. The description is spot on when it says, “just a touch of ginger”. This is it’s only redeeming quality. I don’t generally like ginger, but it did add just a tiny bite to the white tea, which was nice.

Thanks for the sample CK!
I’m going to give the rest of it to my father, as I think that he may like it.
