I ate something that seriously upset my stomach, so now I’m drinking ginger and mint to soothe it. Ahhhh!!!!! feeling better already. Down to 5 bags of this, so I may need to buy more. Maybe I’ll wait until after the holidays when it goes on sale? I consider this a year-round staple. Perhaps I’ll try it loose when I do buy it again? Then again, the bags are so easy to buy in grocery stores and cheap after xmas…plus I like this as an ultra-portable travel tea. I’m sure I have a bag or two in my purse, in addition to ginger candy.
Well, I tried this again and was sure to use hot (not boiling or boiled) water and the taste was even more bitter than before. Still goes well with Cheeze-Its. Perhaps the salt counteracts the bitterness. I think it’s just not meant to be between me and this tea. Gave my last bag to Mom.
Preparation
Found this in the Stash Organic tea assortment. I accidentally let the kettle water boil and then let the tea brew too long. The first couple of sips were bad, but then it kept tasting better the more I drank. It went really well with Cheeze-Its. Need to try this again.
Preparation
This morning was my last cup of Blood Orange black tea. I thought I had enough for two more cups but I only had a little more tea left after measuring out the first cup so I put it all in. I enjoyed the first cup, then decided to try brewing it a second time even though I usually only brew black teas once. The second brewing came out fine if a bit weak.
Deep blue ceramic mug. 1.5 tsp. 1 tbsp milk.
2nd brewing: 5 min.
Preparation
I had my possibly second from last or third from last cup of this tea this afternoon. I’ve been trying to use it up for awhile but now that I’ve finally figured out how to brew it (higher water temp and less time) I’ll be sad to see it finished. That said, I probably wouldn’t buy it again.
Grey, teal, and maroon striped pottery mug. 1 tsp.
Btw, love the new Cupboard and Discussion. Now I have to decide if I want to log all my teas into my Cupboard. I have a lot and it would be a project. I also might have to change my Steepster routine. I used to check my Tealog, then my Dashboard for the last 24 hours, then the Tasting notes for the last 24 hours. Now I have to add Discussion in there somewhere and I’m sure I’ll be a bit addicted to the Latest Activity stream when I’m on.
Preparation
Hahaha, it’s pretty crazy go nuts, right? It’s hard not to get really overwhelmed if I’m away from the site long enough. The new tabbing should help tremendously, though.
I have to limit myself if I haven’t been on the site recently. I tend to be completionist. So I limit myself to only reading the last 24 hours of my dashboard.
Oh god, me too. This is part of why I both love and hate RPG video games. “I KNOW THAT I DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE TO COLLECT ALL OF THESE FEATHERS BUT I CANNOT SUPPRESS THE FEELING THAT I MUST!!!”
Chris and I share a pot of Blood Orange Black this morning.
I’ve had this tea for awhile and did not like it. I had been trying to drink through it so not to waste tea because it wasn’t awful. The blood orange had just been coming out so bitter and astringent that I had been picking the pieces of orange peel out. I was left was an okay orange-y black tea.
Since Steepster, I’ve been experimenting more with tea steeping times, water temperature – which dramatically changed my liking for different types of teas, and amount of tea used. I tried brewing the Blood Orange Black at only 3 minutes instead of 5 – I used to think I liked really “strong”, longer brewed tea before the above experimentation – and it was like drinking a different tea. It’s still not a favorite but it’s immensely more drinkable and one of the few blacks that remains in my tea cabinet. I have been hinting to my husband that I’d like the Damn Fine Tea duo that has gotten some rave postings here for our “dating” anniversary on the 17th.
Preparation
Found this in the Stash Organic variety pack. I was a little wary at first seing green tea was blended in, but this is a very smooth, mellow, almost nostaligic Chai which is nice by itself or with food. It’s a nice tea to drink as a change of pace in between other flavors of tea. If you light a joss stick, dim the lights and turn on a lava lamp and a Beatles album, the experience would be complete.
Preparation
As soon as I poured in the water the infusion turned bright red. Y halo thar hibiscus. ⌐_⌐
The taste is of something I’d not quite describe as apple (apple and hibiscus together maybe?) which gives it an odd sweet-then-fruity-then-tart sucession of flavours. It’s mixed with some rather nice and mild spices – I’m tasting cinnamon and what might be allspice or possibly nutmeg.
It’s not bad, like most of Stash’s herbal-fruit teas it doesn’t need the hibiscus (or at least not as much) but in my opinion it’s better than most produced by this company.
Preparation
This is a nice peach flavored black tea. Stash never disappoints in the way of a “standard” tea/tisane. I wouldn’t go much lower in quality than Stash. But if it’s cold outside and you’re looking for something that brews up quick in a mug, this could do nicely. Perhaps a little astringent, but not overly so for the price. It is absolutely imperative that it not be overstepped, or it will taste like the wrong end of a camel.
