I haven’t reached for this in quite sometime. I decided to rinse for about a minute and steeped this for about 35 seconds. Tasty and had an earthy taste to it. It wasn’t as strong or thick as I had remembered it was. Not bad. I think I’ll go for another steep.

I rarely reach for this since it always depends on my mood. It’s raining out, so I reached for this. It smells very earthy and dark, and I love how each mini cake is wrapped up. Very cute >_<! Generally for this tea, I like to infuse in short amounts of time. I usually don’t like the first infusion… it is too bitter and strong, though I imagine it might taste ok if I added milk and sugar. (note to self: try that next time!) The second infusion is my favorite.

On second infusion, it smells earthy and musty but a little sweet too. I love the sweet-like taste I get. The aftertaste is good as well. :)

So how much tea does each mini pu-ehr cake make? a pot? a cup?
I have zilch experience when it comes to pu-ehr, unfortunately.

ChariTea

This was my first experience with Pu-ehr! It makes a lot. the first infusion is so dark and i only steep it for a few seconds! You can make a large pot with each mini pu-ehr. I can steep this about 4-5 times with a small teapot (serving size for one) or what I usually do is steep in a regular sized mug 2-3 times. If you want a cake, I can send you one! There are so many. Let me know :)

a bit powdery. probably works better with a tea pouch than an infuser. felt like an afternoon tea. I thought it would have much more caffeine and feel more perky being a yerba mate though. was very smooth and mellow.

drank Jasmine Pearl by Rishi Tea

Made 16 oz of Rishi’s Jasmine Pearl today, 2 tsp, 185 degrees, 3 minutes. Nice silkiness in the mouth, long lingering flavor of the jasmine. Very pleasant afternoon tea on a spring feeling summer day.

Love the way this smells. The shiso takes a little getting used to, but I like this more every time I drink it.

Love this tea. You can leave it in the cup and it never gets too strong. Slow release fragrant flavour.

drank Blueberry Rooibos by Rishi Tea

Blu-rooi, as I like to call it, smells amazing and takes a couple cups to get used to for rooibos purists. Don’t think I can handle the caffeine this cloudy morning, so it’s an interesting substitute for my usual black tea.

I usually prefer unflavored Rooibos, but this one isn’t half bad. Only steeped 3-4 minutes instead of the recommended 5-7 on the bag. The fruit gets too tart for my taste when steeped too long.

Most striking mint tea I’ve had. Excellent flavor and after taste, and tastes fine on 2nd infusion

After multiple infusions, considering this light oolong for frequent drinking. I didn’t pick up floral notes as often as I’d done with my other favorite, Ali Shan. But I sensed fresh notes of moss and, indeed, the smooth body and fruity finish mentioned in the seller’s description. An enthusiastic thumbs up!

What is Ali Shan?

Pamela Dean

‘Shan’ means mountain, and Ali Shan is oolong from Mount Ali in Taiwan. It is usually quite lightly oxidized, which produces an oolong with more fruit and flower tastes and aromas. In contrast, the darker, heavily oxidized oolongs have a more toasty, woody flavor profile.

Dry tea is dark green half-balls, less than 1/4" dia. with some tan stems visible. Short rinse first in tepid water to awaken leaves. Steep 3 min at 195F. Unfurl to mid-size leaves of a lighter but more intense green with red-brown edges — a very promising sight! Light green clear liquor, slight floral aroma, rich wood and moss.

Had a cup of this to wake me up this morning. Very little of it left in the can, but that’s okay because I have plenty of new teas to try.
