Numi Organic Tea

Tried this one today. It was OK, not an amazing Chai but not bad. The description is sultry and I would agree with that. It is not a bright chai rather it is has a darker, less energetic flavor. It seems like there is not enough cinnamon or something in this is missing to me. Would I have it again? sure. I bought a variety pack from Numi so it only came with one of these tea bags but I would make it again if I run across another bag. It is not bad, I just have other Chai teas that I prefer over this one.

Very basic minty tea, you can’t really taste the green tea very much. Nothing about this blend stands out for me.

This is a mild, smooth green tea. Very drinkable, but rather forgettable. I brewed it for a while with a couple splashes of cold water. It wasn’t bitter or astringent, but wasn’t particularly remarkable.

This was a nice strong spearmint tea. The only reason it doesn’t have a higher rating is that I definitely prefer peppermint to spearmint on a daily basis. If I bought more of this, it would be to have an occasional cup as a change of pace.

I’ve had a handful of Mate teas, and I’m coming to the conclusion that I don’t really care for this herb. I don’t really like the grassy, earthy quality it has. There are plenty of other caffeinated teas out there, so it’s not a big loss.

OK, ashmanra, my first whiff of this made me proceed with trepidation, because it immediately brought floor cleaner to mind.

However, I followed your advice to steep lightly, and we can swab away that first erroneous judgment. The cardamom is a nice aromatic counterpoint to pu-erh’s darker, heavier baseline. Reminds me a little of pine needles. Thus the floor cleaner, I guess. I can definitely envision this iced. (As my office is erratically and inappropriately cooled to 45 degrees and below year-round, I’ll have to save that for a hot lawn mowing day at home :)

I’ve only had a couple of Puerh teas, so I’m still getting a feel for them. This is smooth and earthy with a mineral flavor, and a slight sweetness. It makes me think of the polished stones you sometimes see in museum gift shops for rock collections. It’s interesting, but I think I’d rather drink a good black. I have a bunch of samples from the Puerh Beginner’s box that I want to try to see if I’m interested in exploring this type of tea further. I brewed this western style since that’s what the direction on the package were for.

This is okay, but not great. It definitely tastes like orange and spice, but the spice isn’t very strong, and the orange is a bit bitter from the orange peel and a bit sour from the hibiscus and lime peel. It’s just not quite what I want from an orange spice tea, though it’s definitely drinkable..

This is a decent black tea. It has a pleasant sweet potato note, but it is rather bitter. It tastes mild enough that it might not stand up to milk well, so if I were to make it again, I would probably steep it for a shorter period of time.

I guess I’m craving lemon today. I had a mug of lemon ginger tea, then grabbed this from my box of samples. It tastes like a pretty straightforward chamomile/lemon myrtle blend. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll probably like this. I’m pretty ambivalent towards the lemony herbs so I think I would have preferred straight chamomile, or chamomile with lemon zest.

I love a good London Fog. This tea reminds me of that, but with chocolate instead of vanilla! I’ve made it at home with soymilk and had it at work with just a bit of sugar. It’s a decadent treat that is hard for me to resist!

Wow I like this tea. I’ve saved it for days where a lot is going on and I need a treat. This, with a bit of sugar, can turn a day around!

I haven’t been a big puerh drinker, but I have a box of this that I am making my way through. It’s a good cup of tea. I should reintroduce myself to puerh so that I can tell how much the flavoring changes the cup, but for now I’m happy to have this.

Ashmanra gave me one of these because we’re on a cardamom kick.

These are teabags and I like that because I’m lazy. I enjoy being smugly superior to people with my loose leaf but sometimes you need the bag. It’s simple and I feel like I get more uniform results over loose leaf. Plus you can keep it in your bag. I have a lot of tea in my purse. It’s super handy in airports, hotels, waiting for your car at the shop, work meetings…

First impressions taking the bag out of the wrapper, is a cardamom sucker punch. I got worried because I like cardamom but I dunno if I like it quite that much. It was so strong it was nearly anise.

I boiled up some water and steeped the bag for four minutes. It is an incredibly dark steep.

Second impression, it smells extremely puerh-y, which is to say like a horse stable. More worried.

Fortunately the actual steep tastes strongly of neither, it’s quite balanced and enjoyable. I can see this being a handy bag to keep around especially if traveling. Will be buying a box of my own.

I made a cup of this with a bit of sweetener and WOW does it hit you like a punch in the face! It has a strong, clear, citrusy taste of lime. I quite like it, but I used to enjoy warheads and I quite like the tartness of hibiscus too, so buyer beware, I guess. Lime, like grapefruit, is a flavor I have to be in the right mood for, but this definitely captures it!

As promised, I tried this cold. I had it hot first and liked it. Wow, that’s a lot of cardamom! Second steep was about ten seconds and the cup was inky black so I figured I would go for two more steeps and put them in the fridge.

Steep three was the normal orange black tea color, while steep four was getting rather pale. As strong as the flavor was, though, I figured it would work. And it did.

I poured both of those steeps into a mason jar and put it in the fridge. I had some with supper that night and the rest with lunch the next day. It was good and refreshing and I love having a flavored cold drink with no guilt, because part of me still wants to reach for the sugary things we used to associate with summertime. (Kool-Aid from my childhood, and my mom always added EXTRA sugar cuz she said it tasted better that way! Southern sweet tea that was so sweet it should have been called Tea Simple Syrup. Ice cold Coke in a glass bottle…okay, I still do that one sometimes, but we buy the Hecho In Mexico ones at Sam’s Club that are made with real cane sugar.)

Going to finish this box quite easily! Took some to Superanna and she liked it, and now need to share with my son and his fiancée, ChelseaR.

I bought this as a special treat at The Fresh Market today, where the bad girl in me always wins and gets to put something we really don’t need in the basket.

I liked Emperor’s Pu-era by Numi but really disliked their Mint Puerh. I could have sworn that I had tried their Chocolate Puerh but apparently I haven’t because there is no note for it.

I love cardamom and recently had a white tea with coconut and cardamom that I liked a lot, so I decided to give this a try. I thought it was going to be sachets but it was teabags. Boo! I sniffed the bag and went MMMMM! at the powerful scent of cardamom followed immediately by UGH at the scent of their Puerh. I love Puerh. This one had a fresh poop smell, not the nice aged barnyard we know and love.

Happily, though, it tastes quite good! And judging by the incredible inky color of the first cup that developed so quickly, I suspect I will get at least two resteeps out of this. All in all, it’s a good tea to have on hand when you want something nice, good for your tummy, and easy as pie to make. Also a great no-hassle tea for work or to throw in a purse or book bag, since the bags are individually wrapped.

I really like citrus spiced teas and lime flavour, so I thought I would like this. I took one sip and gave it to the person I was with. I do taste lime rind, but mostly I describe the flavour is extremely bitter, acrid, and disgustingly unpleasant. One of the worst teas I have ever had, but I can see how others might enjoy it.

Very pleasant and enjoyable cup. The chamomile and lemon grass notes were lovely, the lemon they mention is not sour/acidic, so it is a smooth and palatable drink.

Pretty basic lemon chamomile, nothing really stood out about it, but I did enjoy my pot of tea

A nice Jasmine taste with pleasant tasting green leaf base. Not at all bitter or astringent, but fairly flavourful.

A great mint tea, I’ve bought several boxes. The mint is sweet and has a bold flavor but doesn’t get bitter or oily like peppermint tea can. As a bonus it’s a grocery store brand so it’s not hard to find in a pinch.

Holy cow, this is so lemony/limey. It’s like I’m drinking slightly-watered-down lime juice. I added some sugar and now it tastes like hot limeade.

I like lighter blacks, but this is too light. I mostly get cinnamon and nutmeg, maybe a little bit of anise and a bare hint of cardamom in the back ground. I’ve had worse bagged chais, but it’s a bagged chai. Comforted by the fact that I don’t need to add sugar or cream for sweetness though.
