Normally I only have one cup of rooibos tea before bed, but last night I drank several cups of this trying to figure out just what was missing. I really enjoyed this blend, but I think it needs to be a little sweeter. This leave me with a bit of a problem since I don’t like adding sugar to my tea, especially before bed. It does remind me of amaretto and I think the rooibos base adds a really nutty flavor to the blend in addition to the almond flavoring.
I made another cup of this first thing this morning, even though I don’t normally start off my day with rooibos. With the addition of some sugar this was nearly perfect. I’m thinking that I may want to try making an almond milk latte and see how that goes. This will likely be a reorder for me at some point, just so I have something different to drink before bed, but I wish it had resteeped better.
Preparation
I ended up enjoying this much more hot than cold. I didn’t finish my cup last night before bed and stuck it in the fridge for this morning. Unfortunately, the hibiscus and lemongrass took over and left me with a very tart cup of tea. While hot, it is much more fruit flavored and has hints of mint and lemongrass at the end of each sip.
I am curious to see how this does as a cold steep with a little sugar. Since I have most of an ounce left I may play around with it some.
Preparation
After my visit to a tea house a couple weeks ago, I decided that I do like green teas. I used to, but haven’t had any that often anymore. Think I might have a cold or allergies or something, ‘cause I can’t taste this very well. The ginger flavour does come out though, and I like it.
Will have to try again when I’m feeling better.
Preparation
I had this one again today, this time cold steeped from the left over leaves from last nights brew. Ohhhhh myyyyy goshhhhh! It’s amazing cold steeped!!!! Ahhhh mayyyyy zingggg! It’s tangy and tart and sweet! The orange is so much more apparent and the sharp apple comes through the hibiscus is still there but not as strong as it was hot! Love it!!!! I definitely might need to keep this one to my self. We will see! I will definitely be adding this to my shopping list as well!

Traveling Tea Box C #4
Hmmmmmmmm…this one smelled AMAZINGGGGG in the bag. A tropical heaven! I was so excited to try this. I have to include a disclaimer…I don’t like fruity teas hot. This sadly was no exception. I tasted the hibiscus like crazy… a little apple and some orange so I immediately put these leaves to cold steep in the fridge for tomorrow. I know it will be amazing cold! And I can hardly wait! Thank you Shelley_Loraine for including this one! I will wait to rate this until tomorrows cold brew! Yay!
Sipdown! Not that I’m counting them or anything, my cupboard is nothing like most of yours’ , but I try to keep the ziploc baggies to a minimum. I gifted a little of this to my dear friend dexter3657 and some of it found its way back to me for a try. Thank you, Dexter3657 .
I didn’t care much for it the first time, but I had enough left for a 10 oz cup so I took it to the cottage in case the mood struck. And that it did, what with pumpkin pie for dessert and all… I made a maple whipped cream to top the pie with and I added some to my tea to make it more enjoyable. Without it, I found it a little brisk and a little bitter when steeped with near boiling water for just over 2 minutes. I usually do most black teas 3 minutes but I was timid with this given the previous experience.
Brews a nice caramel color, you’d think it’s earl grey not cardamom black. There is definitely cardamom flavour, large pods can be found in the leaves, but as I said, I found it a little too brisk for my liking. Glad to have tried it, the name makes you want it. And it did go with the pumpkin pie.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Canucks!

Tea #28 from Another Traveling Tea Box
Geez, this one had marigold in it too, how did I manage to do this twice in a row? No wonder I don’t feel good today.
Anyway, I did’t think this came across as pear, or at least not any type of pear I’m familiar with. I’m a bit picky about pear teas because I love pear so much. The green base had a vegetal flavor to it and the flavorings added a bit of sweet and tart to the mix.
Preparation
sipdown! yes..that’s right i’m allowed to pay attention to sipdowns now because i added all of the teas dexter sent to me in to my cupboard. Drinking this one up puts me at 216. woot woot! this as a cold brew was delicious!
Preparation
thanks dexter! This is another one from the box that dexter sent me and i have to say one of the nice things about is, is there are a bunch of rooibos and tisane in it, so that’s a nice change. My cupboard is 75% black teas with/without flavouring; 15% puerhs; and maybe 5% rooibos/tisanes. Which is sad because i generally like them. a bunch. so yay for new teas to try!
This one is a pretty sour tea. I tried this one hot tonight and i’ve got a cold brew for tomorrow going. i think this will be better as a cold brew, since there’s an after taste in this hot that i’m not a fan of. The initial sips of this one were pretty sour but then as it cooled, it became much less so. Overall, not bad, though i think i prefer the other cherry version from NMT co. that dexter sent me. Thanks Dexter!
Preparation
sipdown! This is a tasty caramel rooibos. I really am looking forward to placing an order with NMT one of these days. it’s not overly “rooibosy” and there’s a nice creaminess to this one that is tasty! Thanks dexter!
Preparation
thank you Dexter3657 (and possibly nxtdoor?) I haven’t had the time to add all the lovely teas dexter sent me in our swap but i figured if i tried a couple i could start getting them into my cupboard.
This is a pretty decent caramel rooibos. I don’t mind rooibos, so for me, i can get behind this one. It’s a bit less “full” than i’d like but overall, this is for sure one that can hang out in my cupboard! It’ll be nice when i can finally place an order myself with nmt co.
Preparation
that’s what i meant… heh sorry to confuse. dexter sent it to me but i saw that you had sent it to her! haha
Black Jasmine tea! with creamy? Ohhhh! The dry leaf and steeped cup smells freaking amazing, I just wanna rub it all over me as lotion!
Using the steeping instructions on the package, 212f water for 4 to 5 minutes, the tea came out bitter and dry, too much for my liking. The floral level is pretty good and a nice creamy aftertaste. Adding sugar is a must! Milk would be really good to add here too. And some scones. A nice afternoon tea!
After that, I tried this tea with 200F water for under 3 minutes – it was less bitter and dry, more to my personal tastes – the shorter steep is better if you don’t want to add milk and sugar as well as not like a bitter tea.
However, this tea is good though I think I like DavidsTea’s Black Jasmine Pearls more as I personally prefer the base there better as it is not as heavy.

Preparation
Decent strawberry tea. it doesn’t taste artificial and it’s as bitter as the Huckleberry and blackberry teas also from NM Tea Co, but I’m not in love. Nothing stands out as amazing flavor or superb quality. Just a simple black tea with a splash of strawberry.
Preparation
A sample from Queen of Tarts. I really enjoyed this one. I’ve had a difficult day at work (it may be time to look for a new job…), and I came home tired, irritated, and in need of something soothing. This tea fit the bill perfectly. It’s relatively straightforward — just vanilla flavoured rooibos as far as I can discern. It’s a good one, though. The vanilla is sweet and creamy, very natural tasting (vanilla pod rather than vanilla essence), and the rooibos is slightly woody, maybe very slightly nutty. It’s a bit like drinking vanilla ice cream. Smooth, delectable, moreish. It smells good, too. There isn’t a lot to say about this one, except that it’s very pleasant, calming, and easy to drink. Some days need a tea like this, and today was one of them.
Preparation
I wanted to love this tea, but I don’t:)
I discovered that I had one serving left of Upton’s creme vanilla EG. So, I am having a sip down between two teas….
Cream EG is weak tasting to me, it smells like cream, but when you sip….where is that cream?
Upton’s version is not much better. Weak and where is that cream?
I guess, I will use this tea to make EG tea cookies. Life is too short to drink mediocre tea.
