Lipton

I really hate you, Lipton. Or better despise you, Unilever for your take on making marketing-oriented artificially flavoured beverages which you call tea and ruining the name of an old brand.

I guess me being willing to taste this proves I am NOT a tea snob. It´s supermarket fare, but so are others I enjoy : Gorreana, a locally produced brand which is very good; and so is Twinings and often I can find Ahmads which I like, and always cheap humble Tetley which is pretty honest tea and nice. But this, Lipton, was this tea “designed” in a lab by computers operated by robots? Or by chemical engineers which never tasted tea or real peaches in their life but got a table somewhere this chemical is supposed to take like peaches, this like mango, let´s add lots of those two?

This is tea for people who drink and love Lipton´s “iced tea”. Which for some reason is really popular in my country, where hardly anybody except maybe a few more specialized cafés make iced tea and few people drink tea hot. The Lipton stuff filled a gap somehow, something to drink which has no carbonation (which lots of people do not like) but is relatively intense, and very sugary. You will find it in every café and supermarket. Made with tea extract, flavouring and no tea leaves or real fruit ever.

This smells like a mix of their peach iced tea and their mango iced tea, a very familiar smell. The body is almost unexistant, you can hardly notice the tea, except there is this hint of mustiness. It´s like somebody managed to remove the sugar from the iced tea and then heated it. Like drinking hot tang or some other instant drink.

I really truly hated this. And am mad at me for expecting better, and for this, this!, being a bestselling brand. Yep just 2 euros a 25 teabags box, but lots of other companies manage to produce decent or better than decent tea for this sort of price. And people might not know any better. But to produce artificial reeking stuff like that, oh hope you are happy with the profit Unilever because proud you should not be.

I’ve got a lot of this package left, and I kind of want to finish it!! So I rate this tea somewhere in the middle, not my favorite, but I do not dislike it.

We are getting a major storm tonight. It went from around 40 degrees this afternoon, and right now it is 60 degrees outside!! We’ve been averaging really low temperatures, like 7 degrees to 15 degrees. Its just starting to warm up today, but we are getting a major storm. Its going to rain all night long. Yesterday I had a really bad headache, it feels better today. I’m drinking tea to relax, and to calm me down.

The winds are going to be really bad tonight. The storm is starting at 10pmish, and it is 8:35pm right now. I hope we don’t lose power. I have one working flash light. My mom let me know about tonight’s storm, and I checked www.weather.com

I might not go anywhere tomorrow, the wind will be really bad. But we are not expecting a tornado. I’m done studying for tonight, so I might read for awhile and drink my tea.

We had a 3 hour window of a nice day today, so my Uncle took me to TJs and Michaels because I had a coupon. I got iced tea, which I love and breakfast.

did not enjoy this hot, but i really like it as brewed iced tea!!

i have tried a few different brewing methods now and the flavor is delicious each time. bringing the water to boil with tea and straining after it cools seems to work best for tea flavor, but boiling the water and pouring over sugar and then steeping the tea works better for sweetened tea.

Dammit. Duplicated teas will be the death of me. Copying my tasting note and rating here, and will delete the other one.

Out of all of the “Colour X with…” superfruit green teas that Lipton has, this one is by far my favourite. It does taste peachy, with a little “something else” (mangosteen? Perhaps “artificial mangosteen flavour” since it sure doesn’t taste much like the fruit to me) added in for good measure. What would be so bad about just a peach green tea?! Nothing in my books. Mmm, peach.

As far as bagged tea goes, the quality of this one isn’t all that bad. Sure, I don’t ever expect the best green tea I’ve had in my life when I open a box of Lipton’s, but I don’t ever expect to be disappointed, either. And this one lived up to my mediocre standards, perhaps even surpassed them a bit. Since I like having bagged teas around for the “ADD IT TO CUP OF BOILING HOT WATER OUT OF KETTLE! RUN TO MEETING!!! RUUUUNNNN!!!!” times, I think I might keep it around.

Verdict: would re-buy.

It’s actually very nice. I get it free from work so it’s no big thang.

This was somewhat disappointing. I really liked the Blueberry Muffin tea from the same collection and was hoping for something similar… This tea surely tastes of strawberries, but the cupcake flavour is nowhere to be found. I guess it’s an okay strawberry green tea, but I think I’ll just go for a non-cupcake one next time so that I don’t have to get all disappointed.

I think this is another time when knowing what an acai berry actually tastes like would have been beneficial to me. So with that in mind…

I finally finished the box of this that I had. I forgot I even had it, really. When Lipton first introduced their “green tea with superfruit” line I thought I would get a box of each and try it. I flip-flop at work between loose tea being the best thing ever and being too big of a hassle to bring to a seminar or meeting. I like being able to walk in the door of a meeting and throw a bag out of my cup, not have to worry about having a coaster or whatever for my steeping basket to sit on so I don’t ruin the table. So I always have a nice stock of tea bags in my office, along with my collection of loose leaf.

Since one of the teas in my collection at work is Blueberry Jam, I have a hard time with blueberry-flavoured anything since I have something I can so easily compare. This is one of those that just doesn’t hold up. I can taste “berry” artificial flavour, and other than that it’s just a low-grade green tea. I can’t taste anything even remotely like an acai fruit (theoretically…), but since they’re so expensive I find it bloody hard to believe it’s in a tea bag I paid less than $0.10 for. The tea isn’t TERRIBLE, but it’s certainly no Blueberry Jam. In fact, it’s certainly no blueberry.

Verdict: would buy something else over this, even if I was looking for a bagged tea.

This was another one of those “things I need for my non-loose leaf travel mug to steep quickly and bring to seminars and/or meetings and it was on sale at the store” purchases.

And…yuck. I don’t know what it is about melon and mint together, but I now know I do not, under any circumstances, like this combination. The citrus in this one (a new flavour combination for me) added to the grossness factor, since it was just so darn unexpected to be in there. And it wasn’t TRULY citrus…lemongrass, maybe? I don’t know. But it wasn’t pleasant.

Verdict: will not buy again. So many other pyramid-bags I like better from Lipton’s.

So my aunt has these for her Keurig.
I’ve already gone through all my teas that I brought with me and this and the Green Tea K-cups were the ones I could find in her pantry. I went ahead and went for the chai and.. oh it tastes weird. Not like the chai I’m used to drinking. It smells spicy, but when you drink it, it’s uber sweet. Adding milk does nothing to it. Not only does it taste sweet when it hits your tongue, but it also leaves such a weird and strong sweet aftertaste.
Dang. Every time I give Lipton another shot, it just doesn’t work out.

I got this loose leaf tea from france and though it’s not one of the teas I drink often, it’s very refreshing and it smells wonderfull. I add a dash of lemon and let it steep for at least three minutes

Another sipdown (129). Finally back on track with all these teas! This one was given to me by my very sweet RA around finals time last semester and I forgot about it until now. Unfortunately I’ve never been very impressed with Lipton and this doesn’t change my opinion. The bag is basically full of tea dust. It smells like it might have hibiscus in it.

Very pomegranate-y, hardly any blueberry, no resemblance to any green tea I’ve ever had. Oh well.

I’m forcing myself to finish off a box of this stuff that got bought during Christmas. It is alright in small doses, but if I had to drink this tea everyday…I would probably stop drinking tea.

No complex taste or aroma. Not much flavor at all.

So far this is one of my favorite lemon teas! So many other lemon flavored teas taste like floor-cleaner lemon. This doesn’t have that chemical-y, artificialness to it.

It has this really bold, natural tasting lemon flavor that smells even better.

Be careful brewing this though… If you let the teabag steep for too long it gets really bitter and the lemon flavor is destroyed

I read my past reviews of this tea because I remember thinking that it was a decent chai. Not the best, but good to have when I want a quick chai.
This morning, however, I brewed it the way I like it and it didn’t turn out nice :/ It’s not strong and it has such a weird aftertaste. It tastes overly sweet for some reason, and I didn’t even put any sugar in it at all.
Not a good tea, happily a sipdown.

Last cup of the night and I decided to end it with a black tea haha

I’m actually really excited though! I just went through all my teas today and looked at each bag/tin and see which ones are ready to be sipped down and I have about 7 teas? 9 if you include some of my Hobbit blends but.. I want those to last as long as possible!

Definitely going to drink more tea, of course, but I’ll probably just have one night where I sipped down ALL the teas! Oh this is exciting!
And of course, once I drink all those teas, my package from shmiracles and my tea count is going to shoot up again dang.

But yes. This tea. it’s a decent chai! Splash of milk, dash of sugar. Just how I like it :)
This is deinititely better than the other Lipton chai that my aunt has at her house.

I usually don’t go for Lipton when I choose my teas, but the wonderful shmiracles sent me some in our swap!
Compared to the other chai’s that I’ve had, this one is //decent//. I like my chai with a small dash of milk and sugar. Ran out of sugar so honey it is! With a bit of tweaking, I got the chai that I wanted :)

Some mornings are for the fanciful, flavoured teas. Some are for the refined. Yet others are for the basics; the lowly black teas from the supermarket shelves that claim to be nothing more than “tea”. On some mornings, these are just right to be cups of comfort and “home”. This is one of those mornings.

Normally, I doctor up this sort of tea, but today I’m having it clear.

Actually, that wasn’t a bad decision. While not the peak of refinement by any means, the tea is approachable, mainly earthy, and thankfully clear of the floral tones I sometimes find in black teas, and of which I’m not personally a fan. (If you are, that’s great. I just don’t find it the best taste personally.) It’s on the mild side, yes, but I expected that and appreciated it all the more clear for that.

Overall, I don’t think it’s a bad little cuppa at all.

I’m surprised this tea has such low ratings. I’m an herbal tea drinker and this is the only caffeinated thing in my cupboard. The white tea flavor is very light and delicate and compliments the peach flavor wonderfully. I didn’t taste any mango, but in any case I still like it :)

No sugar in my tea today. What a challenge for a sweet tooth like me! This tea is very sour without my beloved honey.
