Pleasantly surprised after my awful experience with the other bagged tea EnjoyingTea sent with my order. (Seriously, pass on their bagged oolong. Just say no.) This isn’t as good as the loose stuff (what is) but it’s decent and didn’t make me immediately dump the entire mug of tea down the drain, so it gets props for that.
I can actually taste the chrysanthemum. It’s not as fresh as the loose Chrysanthemum tea I have in the cupboard (see 2nd paren note in paragraph above) but it’s pretty decent if you don’t have the means to brew the loose stuff. I can see being offered a cup of this in a B-string Chinese restaurant and not thinking the quality was awful.
Preparation
Meh. This is pretty subpar oolong, but I honestly wasn’t expecting much since it was bagged, and included in my order from EnjoyingTea.com for free (I didn’t even request it!). So thanks for the free tea, but I’m going to leave this in the office cupboard for my coworkers.
I steeped this for a long time because I got distracted. When I finally did take a sip, the color was a darkish brown. Taste: practically non-existent for the amount of time the tea steeped.
I started with a short steep of 30 seconds, and moved on to a minute or so for the next ones. The first two steepings were unremarkable, but the third yielded a more floral fragrance with a hint of buttery aftertaste. I steeped it five times, and the flavor opened up with subsequent steepings, with the best being the fourth.
Enjoyable, affordable, but nothing too special.
Preparation
Cold steeped this overnight. It probably spent about 15-16 hours in the fridge. I think it was about four too many.
It smells sweet and a little like lawn clippings. The taste is very vegetal, very spinachy and I lost almost all the milky flavor that the regular steep had. There is a really nice juiciness here, though. Cold-steeped, this is the greenest tasting oolong I think I’ve had in probably ever. Luckily, that aggressive greenness fades quickly into a fruity sweetness, with apricot and floral notes. The aftertaste is apricots and a residual spinach. It leaves a really clean feeling in your mouth.
I think a little honey would complement this well and probably tie the fruit, floral, and green notes together. I might favor this hot, but I can’t deny that’s it’s really unique and refreshing cold.
Preparation
I’m cold steeping some Jasmine Pearls for milk tea tomorrow. Fiance was super excited, and wondering if just maybe we could have it tonight. I’ll finish converting him yet!
I know I’m close because I got him one of those refillable Keurig cups last week as they have a Keurig maker thing at his office. The first thing he tested in it was the tea he has at work. I’m so close. :D
But onto the actual tea!
I did four steepings in total, 8 ounces each, using 1.5 tsp of leaf in a standard gravity steeper.
3 min, 3 min 30 sec, 4 min, 5 min
Initially it looks like a pretty standard lightly oxodized Taiwanese oolong. Then it has the familiar flavors of sweet cream and floral, but also has a little apricot-like lift at the end of each sip. The finish is sweet and lingers, which lends itself well to the next sip and it seems to build over the cup. The osmanthus strictly complements the oolong with neither overpowering the other.
By the later steepings (4 specifically), there’s some serious atringency going on here., though.
The osmanthus makes this a really pretty tea. Once the leaves are unfurled, the tiny, delicate white petals on the dark green leaves is really stunning. I could absolutely see myself serving this to company in a glass pot.
Preparation
This tea is just lovely (though I bought it from a different seller, all the things here seem right so I’m assuming same tea from different sources?). It has a warm sweetness, and when you add some milk and sweetner, it makes for an extremely lovely and drinkable tea. Anyone whos curious about this, please let me know, I’m looking for a reason to go visit the shop this was bought at again, and buy more.

SIPDOWN!
Hmm, I don’t think I added enough leaf to this cup. Or the leaves are just too old. This is a sample from LiberTEAS that I received in December 2011! So, it is super old and wasn’t exactly stored under ideal conditions. It tastes very faintly of green tea, but it’s mostly just a cup of warm water.
Oh well. I guess I botched this one by letting it sit around for so long. As a result, my rating is reflective of its current average here on Steepster. Thanks anyway to LiberTEAS!!! I really need to get better about drinking my swap samples shortly after they arrive.
Preparation
This is actually why I gave up on the idea of swapping altogether. I have too much tea and never seem to get to the new samples quickly enough. I am still finishing the last of a box from LiberTeas from two years ago. It’s just not the way to go for me. I do better with larger quantities of teas I know I like rather than 60 samples.
My good friend MaryAnn gave this to me. It’s very tasty :) I could have sworn there was mint in it.. or that might have been the copious amounts of bleach/comet smells messing with my brain and taste buds.. but at least my kitchen sink is clean.
Preparation
I’m right there with you I just bleached my kitchen and bathroom this evening and now my throat is very sore. I should really be more careful about cleaning chemicals but I just kinda go balls to the wall if you know what I mean. But everything is so nice and clean and I just love that feeling!
This one has been hiding from me for nearly two years…it’s never been open, has not been exposed to air since I received it, and has been in a small tin – in a dark, cool, dry place. I’m embarrassed to say I thought I tried it and passed it along to someone else already! Oops!
Some findings…
This is a mellower Jasmine. It doesn’t have a soapy taste – nor does it have a stale floral taste. I’m very grateful of this. It’s semi-sweet and the after taste isn’t funky. YAY!
Delicate and tasty! I like this! This is a Jasmine I can relate to! It’s also very forgiving and holds up to being in my stash quite well!
Two thumbs up!
This went nicely with my lunch today :] Rosemary turkey, rosemary wasa crackers, and orange tomato soup! This is a strong black tea where the ginger REALLY shines. There is a little bit of lemon, but it sits mostly behind the ginger. It’s spicy but has a sweet, fruity ending. I liked it :]

Ahem. This is some good shit, ’scuse my french. I LOVE! This strawberry tea, as it tastes exactly what you expect. In the good aspect. Its not all “strawberry flavor” BUT! It does remind me of those strawberry christmas candies with the jelly inside. Great paired with an episode of Doctor Who.
:D Or at least that’s how Im taking it this saturday morning.
Preparation
Sipdown tea #10! I received this one from TeaEqualsBliss a good while ago.
The aroma is very natural and sweet. The flavor is very natural as well. This one will be missed!
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for this one!
This tea smells SO good. The taste of it is slightly sweet. To me the strawberry is kind of a candy strawberry flavoring. It’s sweet but the aftertaste is a little bitter. But I still really liked it! Thank you again TeaEqualsBliss!
Preparation
One of the packages in my tea blitz was a wonderful envelope from TeaEqualsBliss packed to the brim with goodies! I laid them all out on my living room table and basked in their gloriousness for a while before sniffing all of them (and having the bf stick his nose in about half!). The next day, I asked what tea he wanted for the evening and he replied with “that one you had me sniff that smelled like a field.” Mm, very helpful! We knew it was from the envelope, and I went through every tea looking for a “field smell” before realizing it was the cute little tin of dragonwell I’d put in the cupboard already! Oops.
This is a nice, basic dragonwell. A little grassy, a little nutty. Very plant-y, which I do enjoy! And yes, it does smell like a field. There’s no astringency even though I wasn’t very good about cooling the water, which is nice. I think this is a good, everyday green—plus it comes in a teeny little tin! It’s just so cute.
Preparation
When you first open this tea the intense smell of cinnamon hits you like a wall. It smells like a fireball candy. Before brewing I was afraid that the cinnamon would be overwhelming, but when drinking it is the perfect amount of cinnamon. If you’re in the mood for a nice breakfast black, with a little added spice then this is the perfect tea for you
