Sipdown!

Super old sample.
Super yucky taste.

I won’t rate it because of the age but let’s just say I used two heaping teaspoons to fill my Contigo mug and it was gross. Not chocolatey. There was a weird marijuana note (??) ….maybe that was my body shop hemp hand cream. I digress.

Not impressed.

drank S'mores by Della Terra Teas

It’s a little cold this morning so I thought I’d try this one. I bought it from Shadowfall’s sale. It smelled yummy and tastes good. I don’t get graham cracker and marshmallow but the chocolate tastes good. Not one that I’m gonna buy later though. My sister bought dill herb dip and the smell is permeating the house! so I’m nose deep in my cup inhaling the good smells. Not that I don’t like dill but the constant smell is irritating, don’t like herby smells that much.

My friend gave me a sample of this to try, so this morning I debated between this and LB. Uhmmmmm that was dumb. I made a poor decision. I can’t believe I’m able to be responsible for a tiny innocent helpless young human yet I chose to drink THIS when I could have made LB instead.

The other day when I drank DTT’s Cafe Vanilla I pondered out loud (in type, online, to you) about possibly not being a fan of whatever black base they use, because I feel like I can taste it in every one of their blends and it has a weird note.

Welp, this morning, with this cup, I was able to test that theory.

The end result of this experiment is that I’m not a fan.
There’s a weird background taste to this that seems unnatural somehow.

I wouldn’t have paid money for an unflavored DTT in the first place (just…WHY?!), and this cup only reinforces that sentiment.

Blehhhhhh. Should’ve had the LB.
Must always choose LB. SILLY GIRL.

Sil

I have come to learn that I only like DTT’s lime and lemon chiffon, orange and cream rooibos blends, and even those I can live without if need be

ohfancythat

Yeah, my interest is waning, apparently. Ah well, on to greener pastures

Cavocorax

I find I binge on their teas around Black Friday because of a) great deals, and b) Fall/Winter means I want dessert teas. All the candy teas! And then I calm down and go back to drinking regular teas after binging on flavoureds for so long.

ohfancythat

Makes sense! There are a few I’d like to try in the fall, one being that green almond one that everyone seems to love

Della Terra you got this one right! How pleasant a flavor this tea has! Truly it does have hints of molasses flavor. Makes me want to bake an apple pie or something. It is good hot and surprisingly I also liked it cold. I’ll have to try this again with some honey.

I’m not sure why I chose this one tonight being that most of my tea today hasn’t worked for me. I guess I was hoping something new might take me out of my slump. So weird I went for this one because I’ve been avoiding it… Lemon in tea… as a child it was my nemesis. You see, my dad, who always meant well has this idea that if he likes something, the everyone else should too… and wouldn’t you know that he liked to mix sweet tea and lemonade… Yuck! If both happened to be in the fridge at the same time it went something like this..
Dad: Have some tea and lemonade
Me: No thanks
Dad: Have some tea and lemonade
Me: I’ll take one or the other
Dad: They are better together
Me: No thanks, I’ll take just one
Dad: Here, try mine
Me: No dad, I’ve tried it before
Dad: But it’s better this way
Me: Fine.. (takes a sip)
Dad: See, you want some don’t you?
Me: Just some tea, thanks
Dad: You don’t know what you’re missing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my dad dearly, he’s a great man. I’ve just never been found of lemon in my sweet tea and having had pressure to drink it that way was never a help.

EvaGrimm sent me this knowing I was wanting to stretch myself with citrus blends, & knowing I might full well dump it, Thanks for sharing it anyway!

Dry leaf it smelled of rooibos and lemon. Steeped it initially tasted of woodsy rooibos and lemon (kind of like dish soap smells). As it cooled it changed for me in a good way. It smells of a sweet lemony baked good, and tastes similar to a lemon pound cake with the lemon (not quite as strong as the cake normally is) and buttery goodness. I can still taste the rooibos in the blend, but only if I search for it. I did add my normal touch of sugar to add to the cakey flavor.

It has yet to be determined if I would order this or not. I think I prefer orange over lemon so far, but this one is stretching me again. I definitely enjoyed this much more than I thought I would.

Ugh, yes, what is with the “Arnold Palmer” obsession? I have no need for lemon (or lemonade!) in my sweet tea!

Suziqzer

I didn’t know there was a name for it.. But glad to hear I’m not alone. Putting two good things together doesn’t always make one better one!

This is a nice spice tea. It’s a pretty average mixture but the vanilla makes it feel a little richer than it would otherwise. It’s nice and sweet without being too much, and none of the spices overpowers the sip. I have enough of this for about one more cup and then it’ll be a sipdown, and I’m not sure I’ll restock, but I’m glad I got to try it because this is a solid spice option.

Thanks again to the travelling tea box. This was nice, I am not always crazy about the base Della Terra puts on their teas, but this one was nice and light. The chocolate shone through an it was sweet, but not too sweet, which was exactly what I was looking for this evening,

From CANTB

Huh. I was expecting something more savory. But I’m not disappointed overall.

This is sweeter and more peachy (and not an offensive gummy-like peach either) than I was anticipating. There are lots of buttery veggie notes, though. The corn comes out stronger and adds a savory sweetness that is unique, but pleasant.

Overall, a really unique, inspired brew.

165 °F / 73 °C 2 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 6 OZ / 177 ML

Another entry in my “drink all my previously hoarded teas” log. Except I hadn’t yet tried this one. I got it in a sampler pack from DTT.

Another tea added to the swap/sell pile, which funnily enough consists purely of dessert teas.

This smells really good in the bag, like creamsicles, or those swirly creamy orange and white hard candies.

It tastes very orangey, but also very sweet, thanks to the caramel.

This is a heavily flavored tea…

It’s tasty, but just not what I want. I am pretty sure I can now say I’m not into orangey teas.

Flavors: Caramel, Orange Zest

Orangey teas are not my thing either. Any other citrus, pretty much (unless it’s a black tea) but not orange. I have no idea why – I mean, I love oranges and orange juice? Maybe it’s because it just seems all wrong to drink it warm.

ohfancythat

And it was SO orange. Overpoweringly orange. Blehhhh

You’re right, warm is weird.

Anna

Blergh. Just ew.

T&C TTB

Smells like Christmas but tastes like Thanksgiving.

What I mean is that it smells fresh and crisp which makes me think of winter. The blend has the same berry and cinnamon aroma that I associate with the holidays…possibly because stores always set out the cinnamon pine cones and dried fruit garland near their entrances. Flavor wise, the cranberry and cinnamon are the most distinct. This tastes better with sweetener but it still feels like it’s missing something…

Surprisingly light tea since, for me, white chocolate usually invokes expectations of “thick and creamy.” Sweetener is necessary to taste the white chocolate and adding too much cream can easily mute the chocolate flavor.

Interesting. Not as Limey as I would have hoped, but it’s definitely nice and creamy. I enjoy a good, creamy tea. AS it cools, I get more of the lemon, but not the lime. Ah well. It’s creamy and fairly sweet, kind of a creamy lemon taste. I like it.

This was all I had of this tea. If I got my hands on more, I would definitely drink it.

Another awesome surprise swap sample from Jennkay

Della Terra teas are pretty hit or miss with me…this one is shockingly good! Even though I oversteeped it slightly, it has a nice creamy white chocolate flavor, even without sugar. I don’t mind the slightly drying astringency of the oversteeped white tea! Tasty!

My husband would enjoy this if he could drink it. Alas, it has dairy so he can’t. The orange flavor is very subtle compared with the chocolate. Which is probably good because using real orange slices to flavor things (when they are dried) can be tough. Most of the time they end up bitter.

It’s my “baby’s” birthday – she’s turning 18! So I pulled this one out to celebrate. Smelled great in the bag. But first steep, COCONUT. Blech. No rating because it’s not their fault I hate coconut. The rest of it went into the trade pile.

DeliriumsFrogs

Happy Birthday to your daughter!!!
(and, your coconut reviews are hysterical. haha!)
I’ve been wondering about this one (why am I always drawn to ‘cake’ tea?!?)….

Cheri

Happy Momiversary!

This tea has a bizarre strong floral perfume scent and flavor to it. I have had some luck mixing small amounts of it with other teas, but I find the flavor extremely off putting on its own.

This came as a sample in my joint order with Amariel. It smells like delicious, sugary creme pastries. I have a cinnamon oil burning in the back, and the combined aromas make me crave a cream drenched cinnamon bun.

The flavouring is just as the name would have you believe. the black tea base is also what you’d expect from Della Terra; it personally reminds me of cheap ice cream cones. It’s not fancy but it’s still dessert (that smells amazing!).

Sounds like a winner!

This tea is just not cooperating with me. I’m not getting the dark oolong goodness others are getting, but a light roasted oolong with a golden ochre colour.

I tried first at 185F steeping, and the tea was on the light side, but with a good caramel sweets flavor, with a light nutty roasty oolong background. A little bit of orange flavor, but still good. Overall, light and watery on flavor.

So I went in again, this time with 200F water and a bit more leaf. The caramel flavor is brighter, with the oolong tasting sharper, but still not rich, and with some light to moderate astringency at the end, making the cup not as enjoyable – it lacked that smoothness my last cup had.

I was actually going to review it for Oolong Owl, but yeah, not happy this tea isn’t turning out how others here are getting it.

Have you tried Golden Moon’s sugar caramel oolong? Yum.

Oolong Owl

I haven’t, but Golden Moon is on my list to order from sometime. So many teas!

TTB&C #15

This was a light tea that had flavors of both the coconut and vanilla. The tea was sweet and well balanced between the coconut and vanilla. I am finding with Della Terra’s black tea that the base is not strong enough for me. I find that I enjoy the flavors, but I get no tea base and all flavor. This tea was the same. Light on the tea, heavy on the sweet flavors.

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Suziqzer

Sounds like a good dessert blend.. if you just want dessert.

From Another TTB. This was definitely sweet like a sundae, but it didn’t have a lot of strawberry taste. It was nice to sample, but I don’t think I would purchase it.
