Tea #2 from the Traveling Tea Box C Round 2
So this one smelled kinda similar to Eight Candles, though because my package of Eight Candles is still sealed (And I’m not opening it just to smell compaire. Lol), I can’t say 100%. I did compare it to the Love in a Cup I had and it’s similar, but not really since Love has chocolate and this has pumpkin. It gives it a spicy-esque, almost nutty kind of smell to it.
I’m pretty sure I should’ve used 2 tsp for my 8oz instead of the 1 1/2 since this was pretty weak/watery tasting. I didn’t get much of what I would associate with pumpkin either, but it might be because it was so light tasting. Again it was very similar to Love in a Cup (Which I’ve had recently so I remember better) and Eight Candles (which I’ve had not so recently so I don’t have an entirely firm grasp of the taste anymore). Lol.
Kind’ve caramelly and sweet, with a marshmallow-esque hint to it. Maybe a slight bit of spice if I hold it in my mouth and think about it for a moment.
I did find this much better with a bit of Truvia, while unsweetened it was kinda blah and even weaker.
I might get this in a try-me pack one day to taste again with a stronger measure to see if the pumpkin stands out, but for now, I’ll stick with the Eight Candles I have. It’s close enough for me right now.

Edit – Just a note to those who may use a plastic steeper (ingenuitea/DavidsTea Steeper/etc). This left some funky dregs in the bottom of my cup, not to mention gunky red stuff/a film on the sides. Probly from the sprinkles, which I’m pretty used to from other teas I’ve drank that had sprinkles. But I know that this stuff can be a pain in the butt to clean from the plastic steeper, so if you have a metal filter, maybe try that instead. /shrugs/ Just wanted to put that out there. Lol.

I don’t know why I had been putting off trying this one. I’m think maybe I was hoping it would compare to Fauchon’s L’Automne, of which I’m hoarding 2 cups worth, so I wouldn’t have to want for something that is so hard to get in the states, and who knows at what cost if I could find it? I knew this one didn’t have chocolate, but is an orange tea w/o the caffeine .. say evening tea. I used to think I wouldn’t ever gravitate to citrus and tea, but a couple of you fellow Steepsterites have proved me wrong .. Thanks!

Dry leaf smells promising of sweet orange. Steeped I get the typical nice rooibos color cup with a bit of orange and cream. I unfortunately found a bit too much woodsy rooibos for me .. Bummer. It is a drinkable blend but I think I prefer some of the black base orange tea blends to the woodsyness of this. Early on rooibos didn’t bother me, but the more I drink, the more I sometimes find I taste the woodsy notes… That said, there are some awesome ones out there that either work well with that flavor, or hide it completely…as I was so wishing this would. That said, this is good enough to finish the sample, Thanks EvaGrimm for sharing, but I’m not sure I’ll be buying more of this one.

T&C TTB#11: Smells like buttercream vanilla icing with not much bergamot. Steeped it is mostly vanilla but not much even of that. Mostly a light vanilla black tea with some dryness. Not offensive but nothing I’ll run out to stock.

I think, on the whole, I expected too much of this blend because of my typical adoration of Della Terra’s black teas because I’m finding this one to be really flat and mediocre which is making me feel especially disheartened despite this not actually really being a bad tea.

The black base is definitely strong and it’s just a tiny bit bitter – but not in a horribly awful or undrinkable way. I actually really can’t taste any apple despite seeing rather large pieces of it in the leaf I used: mostly I taste the “molasses”; I put that in quotations because I consider molasses to be a very commanding flavour as well as a very full, rich one and this flavour while being similar to molasses is really gentle and soft.

I feel like, if this was a soda, it’d be “Molasses Light”, the ’low calorie" version of “Molasses” that tastes like lower quality too. Definitely not the right blend for a molasses lover such as myself.

But oh well; thanks anyway for the sample VariaTEA – now I know that, and otherwise I probably would have kept wondering…

Bland, soapy-tasting- possibly from the coconut flavouring. A bit of citrus zest flavour in the aftertaste.

I haven’t had many fennel teas but if this is an example, well, yeah, I’m in! I like the fennel, spice and peppercorns. Can’t really taste any apple but with the others tastes in there it makes sense. I guess I just wouldn’t expect to taste apple hidden in fennel, spice and peppercorns. This is a boldly flavored tea that has “good for you” fennel. Hey, I just read that may help in weight loss and flushes out toxins. Good news! It’s a great tea hot, I wonder what it will be like cold?

I have found in the past that I wasn’t a huge fan of DT’s black base, but I’m a sucker for almond and decided to give it a try since it was in the ATTB. It does taste like almonds and chocolate, but I’m missing the delight part of it. Like the other black teas, it just doesn’t do it for me. I’ll stick to DT’s rooibos and green based stuff!

This was the third 1oz tea I ordered from DTT a few weeks ago. I figured I’d better open it up and try it before sending some to Courtney, because what if it was nasty?!

I was actually pretty pleased, it’s a half decent tea, it’s not overly sweetened, which I very much appreciate.

I am getting some astringency which seems to undermine the whole point of a creamy coconut tea, but maybe I oversteeped it. I haven’t been super OCD about watching my steeping times. Even though I have a tea timer app on my phone….but my phone is hooked up to a speaker in the kitchen via Bluetooth so if I’d been listening to music and the phone is still connected, then I’d have to listen to the timer tick down for 4 minutes. I know you didn’t need to know that, just sayin’.

So, I think I’d drink this again but I will pay closer attention to the steeping time.

It definitely doesn’t come close to my favorite coconut teas – Davidstea’s Coconut Oolong and Persimmon Tree’s Coconut Creme!

When it’s gone I won’t restock, but it’s not awful or anything! Huzzah!

I wonder if Courtney will enjoy it….

No idea of how many teas ive tried from the megaload of tsp samples i have from the box.

I’m assuming this tea has something to do with Hanukkah. Im definitely tastings burnt, not always burnt sugar though. Honestly not sure if it’s because this is the bottom of the sample or because of the ‘poptart’ but I’m npt really liking the flavors. The first few sips were good but as I’m getting to the bottom of the cup it’s kinda meh.

Oh my goodness, this tea smells absolutely divine when brewing! I didn’t notice I was sniffing my tea tumbler until the person I was meeting with gave me a quizzical look, wondering what I was doing. The smell is spot on for roasted apple.

The taste is like a grown up, unsweetened apple juice or cider. I actually prefer this over cider or juice since those can get so sweet. I’m bummed that I used up my whole sample from Suziqzer in this brewing, but I’ll be sure to savor it.

1.5 tbsp for 375 ml

Little to no strawberry flavour. Spearmint is the most predominant taste. Green tea flavour is very matcha-like in the background.

Ah! I can’t believe I drank this the other day and forgot to log it. The nerve! And what’s the point of drinking tea if you’re not going to tell everybody on Steepster about it? Ha ha.

This was tea two of my 3 × 1 oz order from Della Terra, possibly my last order ever, who knows.

I was curious to try this as the one from Davidstea is one of my all time faves.

Surprisingly enough (given my recent track record with DTT), I actually think I like this one more. It’s verrrrry creamy, which I love, and not overly strong, though it’s got a nice richness. If I ever placed another DTT order, I’d probably order a couple ounces of this to have on hand, seeing as how EG’s, especially creamy ones, are breakfast standbys for me.

Caffeine Free Tea Box

Couldn’t wrap my head around this one. The flavor combo was just weird.

I caved and order three 1 oz teas recently from DTT, this being one of them.

It came this morning, and in my excitement (“new shiny things all for me!!”) I forgot that I said I was going to start my day with Butiki’s White Rhino and I made some of this instead.

I was underwhelmed. It’s a perfectly ok tea, the flavoring isn’t overly sweet or chemical tasting, but the base is also not very strong, so there’s nothing about the cup that really stands out. I was hoping the oolong would be more buttery because I thought that would compliment some caramel flavoring very well.

Unfortunately the base is just kind of there, which makes the tea overall kind of just “meh” for me in general.

May end up in my swap pile.

I may be done with DTT….two more teas to try!
I think I’m just looking for something MORE.

I should have stuck with my decision to start the morning with White Rhino!

I really did not get much of any flavor from this, not even mint.

This was a sample I received in the LiberTeas box. Thank you for allowing me to try this one.

This has some good flavor, caramel, burnt sugar, but the base is very weak. It seems to be my complaint with all of Della Terra Teas that aren’t Rooibos. I wish I loved these more. This will not be a repurchase for me.

I like this because I can’t really taste the rooibos. And because I love lemon desserts.

This is a rooibos base, so surprisingly I was not much of a fan. It does have a slight creamy taste, but I think that comes with the rooibos inherently. I would have liked to get some cinnamon and nutmeg flavors, maybe even some rum.

The dry leaf actually smells like dark chocolate cocoa. The brewed leaf smells just about the same, with maybe a hint of spiciness at the end (I might be imagining it). The flavor is pretty darn chocolatey. A bit of brown crystal sugar brings out that chocolate flavor even more. The chili comes out in the aftertaste. It’s ok, but I’m not a fan of this kind of spiciness in my tea. I do realize it’s unfair to criticize a tea for tasting exactly like what it’s called! For myself, I would rate this a 75 because of the chili aspect and because black tea rarely sits well with me. For quality of flavor and faithfulness to the name, I’d give it an 85. So I’m going to refrain from giving it a rating at all. Sipdown!

I really hate when teas are mis named. This tea does have peas and corn in it, and it’s pretty to look at – but this is a peach green tea. I’m not getting any “garden” at all.
This is actually a really nice peach tea – much better than several “peach” teas that I’ve tried.
Why is my new favorite peach tea called A Rabbit’s Garden? It’s just frustrating. Is my favorite pear teas still out there but it’s called something so strange I haven’t found it….
