I think this may be my favourite tea. I used to be a Earl Grey junkie but this has changed my mind. Actually David’s Tea has changed my mind about tea and what I like. Jessie’s Tea is great hot or cold. I even have a extra tin of it at work

I am madly in love with this tea!!
I picked it up today from David’s Tea, and I had been looking for something with a good coconut flavour. This definitely did the trick!
I think this will be one I start drinking daily… fantastic!

Yum! This is definitely chocolate and strawberry. Sweet with a bit of black tea in the background. Thank you Lori for letting me try this.

2 TB for 450mL water, lightly sweetened with stevia, no milk.

And up goes the rating. I can taste much more creme brulee flavour with a stronger infusion. Two tablespoons is a lot, yes, but the liquor comes out a beautiful light russet. The flavour is deeper and more pronounced — no woodiness this time — and the mouthfeel is lovely: silk and cream. Even my cheeks are happy.

I am having a Very Bad Day. Almost four weeks of assorted nuisances have blended, entwined and swollen to create my grotesque today. I am ready to scream. Or cry. But what did the posters in WW2 England say? ‘Keep calm and carry on.’ And what would my war-bride English grandmother say? ‘Cup of tea.’

My nerves are shot, so I figure I need rooibos. Then I remember the new packet of Creme Brulee from David’sTea I thought I might keep on hand for a gift. I, um, opened it. Steeped some.

Mmmmmm, yes, that’s better.

The green rooibos base tastes bright, but not minty or woody as some red rooibos can get, and not dull and grassy like some crappy green rooibos I’ve had. The liquor is a lovely pale brass. The scent is caramelly but not overpoweringly so. The aftertaste is a slight bit woody, but I don’t mind it. Soothing. Very mild. Silky mouth-feel.

On my second attemot with the Chocolare Chili Chai. I expected to like this one, but I’m underwhelmed.

Lots of really good chocolate aroma, but very little tea aroma. I think the base is a China black. I dunno, I can’t help thinking an India black would have been a better choice. No real heat, just a minor nibble from the chilis on the aftertaste. Except for the Chai Guarana, I’ve found anything labelled ‘chai’ from David’s Tea to be a bit dull. No true heat, no singing marriage of hot and sweet spices. Not for me.

1.5 Tablespoons per 450mL water. (David’sTea recommends 2 teaspoons for 250mL water. I brew my tea pretty strong. This tisane needs the extra amount, too,)

A beautiful tisane just to look at. I’ve given serious thought to buying some just to have out in a bowl as potpourri, or in a clear jar for display.

Lovely chunks of apple and extremely fresh and fragrant cinnamon stick. A few peppercorns and four gorgeous green pods — caradmom? I brewed this completely loose, no bag or filter, as I wanted to watch it steep.

At 5 min, most of the tisane is still floating. Liquor is cloudy and pale. The aroma, my mother-in-law assures me, IS baked apples. Just like her mother made on cold days, with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts and raisins. This tisane has, in fact, scented the entire top floor of my house and beats even my good Pumpkin Spice Colonial Candle.

The taste? Red apples. You can even taste the peel. Red apples and sweet spices. (And no hibiscus! Yay!) Delicious. A very special tisane.

If you opt not to use a filter, you will have to sip around/through the ingredients floating on top. Just so ya know. The frugal amongst us may even scoop out the steeped tisane to mix into oatmeal later.

Smell: Before and after brewing, it smells like a standard black tea, maybe a bit “woodsy”

Flavor: Nothing strange here, just a pleasant, very smooth and kind of earthy black tea. I could easily drink this all day, multiple days throughout the week. To me, the best characteristic is how smooth it is.

Reminds me of: Other black teas I’ve tried, except much more soothing.

Aftertaste: No bitterness, just a hint of the initial flavor

Memorability: Very

Steeps: 2 (both were flavorful, resteep was 5 mins)

Would I buy this again?: Yes. I’ve actually refilled this 3 times so far, and will continue to do so.

Other notes: Out of all of the plain black tea that DavidsTea carries (excluding Lapsang Souchong), this is without a doubt my favorite.

At David’s Tea I was looking for some plain black tea and this caught my eye. I usually keep 1 of each “type” in stock at my house. The canister in the store had just enough for a few more scoops of Black Needles before it ran out. So I guess this is popular at my location.

Anyways, onto drinking this stuff. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly this goes down. It tastes like a nice, strong flavored black tea. What more could I expect? The fact that it has the strong flavor and it goes down really smooth, is a nice feature.

If I don’t feel like trying out new black teas I will probably just buy more of this.

This tastes like a wonderful creamy pumpkin pie! More pie than chai.

The problem, I find, with most chamomile blend teas is that they taste…like chamomile. Honestly, no matter how well blended the tea is or how many other flavours are packed in, generally the chamomile is all that really reaches you.

I didn’t have that problem with this tea. I had it hot, without any sweeteners (honestly, it doesn’t need them, it sweetens itself, it seems). There is plenty going on, with the orange peel, the licorice and…and the peppermint. The chamomile isn’t lost, but it actually seems blended well with the other flavours, not just masked, and it isn’t overpowering.

Word of warning: If you don’t care too much for licorice, this might be a tea you’d like to avoid. It doesn’t taste too much like licorice, but as others have commented, it does a bit of an aftertaste/affect associated with that flavour.

This tea smells great. When you open the bag, there’s a heavy almond presence then roasted coffee. There are huge pieces of each mixed into the tea.

The tea brews to almost black. The initial fragrance was “burnt” and the first sip was extremely bitter. I almost threw the whole cup out. However, I let it sit a minute and it started to behave. None of the almond ever came through, but the coffee and chicory made this pretty bold. So bold, that you could never tell there was any tea in the cup.

As the cup sat, the bitterness returned so there’s a finite window in which this tea is enjoyable.

Do NOT steep for more than 2 minutes. Like the other reviewers said, this one is best steeped for a shorter time. Otherwise, that pu’erh flavor is “too much”. But w/a brief steeping, this approximates a coffee flavor and the pu’erh adds an extra dimension of flavor.

I’ve had plenty of this tea over about half a year at this point, but still haven’t decided how I feel about it. It tastes good. The vanilla is rich and creamy. But I wish I could taste the oolong through it, and that it was a little more subtle. When going for an oolong I never expect to be bashed over the head with flavour like this one does. So, yes. Very tasty and creamy vanilla but a bit too heavy for me.

I think I like this one the more I drink it. It took a litle while to become accustomed to the buttery thickness, but now I love it.

It’s good to drink as work as it doesn’t lose its flavour through multiple steeps. The vanilla is nice and keeps it interesting but isn’t so out there that I find myself sick of it. To the contrary, it’s growing on me.

I think I’ll increase my rating of this one a little.

Tonight I was baking and had a headache from all the Christmas stress and food. I made some of this and took a break. It helped me relax and get rid of the headache for the most part (only sleep will do the rest!) and not to feel so awful after eating so much all day. Nice and cozy for the holidays.
