I have always enjoyed this tea because way back when i was a little kid, my parents would always give me some and tell me it would help me fall asleep when I was getting tired. Did it really help? Who knows? But the placebo effect at least, always did the trick. Love this one because the taste is great but it also makes me think of home :)
Preparation
What a delicious tasting tea for anytime of the day but i prefer right before bed or during my favourite movies or tv shows,
Definitly a sweeter yet almost nutty taste with a very warm and comforting tone. Seems to be perfect for when guests come over for tea!!!
Mom likes to randomly buy me teas when she’s out shopping. This time she went to Target and brought me back two tins of Harney’s coconut green, a box of Numi’s chocolate pu-erh, and this. I know the first two are good, but the last was something I was apprehensive about. I’m not really a big fan of Celestial Seasonings or herbal teas, but hey, there’s no hibiscus in it. I figured it couldn’t be all bad then.
For the most part it smells better than it tastes. The dry mix has a nice toasty, orangey smell. Too bad at a five-minute steep it’s weak and watery, in no way living up to its scent. However, if you steep this for ten minutes and add a spoonful of sugar, you’ll have a pretty tasty tea. It’ll actually bear a resemblance to sugar cookies. Even unsweetened it isn’t bad. Just make sure you steep it for ten minutes or double up on the bags if you don’t want to wait that long.
Sipdown.
I’m so tempted to get more of this, even if the espresso did make me more anxious than usual, because it was so good with a bit of sweetened creamer. Spicy, creamy, and a little bit sweet this is just fantastic … even for someone who’s not a big fan of chai.
I was feeling adventurous the last time I ordered from Celestial Seasonings so I ordered a box of this. I don’t like coffee (though I love the smell), or chicory; but I do like roasted barley, carob, cinnamon, nutmeg, and anise so I figured it was worth a shot. This is a very strong tea. It’s in the same flavor category as coffee, dark chocolate, and strong black tea but it is definitely it’s own distinct flavor. I could taste the carob, barley and chicory, while the cinnamon and nutmeg are only an accent on the flavor. I didn’t taste the anise at all, so it’s probably just a tiny amount to take the edge off the bitterness. After a bit of experimentation, I decided that I’m not a huge fan of this plain, but it makes a very nice latte, and it’s especially nice with a teaspoon of cocoa powder added to the mix. When I pick up more brewing cocoa, I’ll have to try blending that. I have seen several varieties of “herbal coffee” that have made me curious. Since I like this one, I’ll have to give some other varieties a try.
Flavors: Bitter, Dark Bittersweet, Roasted Barley, Spices
I am desperate this morning, which means I’ve gone to the office Keurig machine, and brewed up this out of one of those little pot things.
Eh. How the mighty have fallen.
But I really just want something hot and tea like at the moment, and this is both of those things.
Its not particularly good, but I must give credit where its due. Its drinkable without causing flinching, spasms, or even much notice. It just sort of slides down, leaving a vaugly tea-ish flavor in its wake.
At lunchtime I will hunt down better brews.
I have been having some stress and anxiety issues lately. I was at the grocery store just looking at teas, and found this. The flavors sounded great, except for the licorice, but I thought I would give it a try. I think its tastes absolutely amazing. After the first cup, I felt very calm and focused, and slept very well. The next day, I was pretty calm, relaxed, and focused all day. I did feel the effects wearing off near the end of the day, but I was nowhere back to how I used to feel. I will be drinking a cup every night. I highly recommend it!
Preparation
This tastes like the Sleepytime Peach, minus the peach.
It’s mostly chamomile. I’ve had several cups now, and I honestly can’t taste the honey. I felt like this should be sweeter.
That said, it’s pretty good, and I like to sip it as part of an evening ritual to get to sleep. I have a lot of trouble sleeping sometimes, so this is, hopefully, a Pavlovian training method. Drink this, body falls asleep. It’s soothing.
This is quite drinkeable iced with sugar. But remember, it don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that zing. And there is little zing here. Still it’s good. I did notice a bit of that cherry cough syrup smell that someone else noticed. And the back of my throat may be feeling it.
Two bags and 200 mL for 3 min then iced.
Forget about whether it smells like peach for a sec. Because regardless of what the name is, this smells good! In fact, I recommend holding this cup next to your coworkers just to get them to say: “Hey, that smells yummy”.
Warm, it reminds me of warm peaches.
Cold, it’s good too.
You might want to be careful with the sweetner though. Maybe add a bit of water, if you put in too much. I was getting a really sweet vanilla on the tongue.
So far I’m.really impressed with their tea. I would make iced tea from this!
Drunk warm, this is full of black cherry. Berry goodness bursting out. Iced, it is refreshingly mild. So depending on which taste you are looking for, choose your temperature!
Brewed up double strength, then iced.
I like a slice of apple berry pie, but I never get one. So I might
Pull this one out when there is apple pie.
This is no where near as overpowering as Cherry Koolaid. I have a bunch of KA single serves and really you can add them to anything. I did Cherry Matcha for example. The colour is really red and there is that black cherry finish to it (warm).
I picked this one up in a multipack. The care they took with the packaging was just amazing, and would definitely encourage me to buy from them again. A box, and five
Seperately sealed packages of flavoured tea!
Flavors: Cherry, Hibiscus
FYI: I just bought a new box of this and it came with this adorable collectible altoid style tin. I think this must be a new promo for the holiday teas. Because I saw the holiday ones said they had a collectible inside. (Including Candy Cane Lane, Gingerbread one, and the Cranberry one as well) Super Cute idea!
Finally broke up my box of this that I’ve been hoarding. I’ve already gone through the other two… I wish this was sold all year. They better not even think about retiring it. This is my favorite CS tea it really tastes like a Sugar Cookie. Yum!
Preparation
I have read the reviews of this tea by K S for years now. Last year I finally went looking for it and it was all sold out. That happens with the better Christmas teas in this area. White Christmas by Stash is another one that you had better load into your basket as soon as you see it or else you won’t be having any.
Imagine my surprise when I was in the grocery store tonight and saw one box. ONE BOX. No label or tag on the shelf for it. Just the one. I looked around to see if they were putting out Christmas tea outlandishly early. (The heat index here is still over 100F most days.) I saw a pumpkin tea but no more Christmas tea. There was a box with peppermint sticks on the front but it didn’t say it was a Christmas blend. Since I had wanted to try it I had my daughter check the expiration date to make sure it wasn’t last year’s tea that turned up in a back room, but it looked brand new and had a nice long time until it expires.
I was going to have one cup tonight to try it, but as I took the sachet out of the box and the aroma hit me, I knew hubby had to try it. He is aptly nicknamed “The Cookie Monster” in our house. This smelled like really good sugar cookies, specifically the Queen Cake recipe from Colonial Williamsburg that we make at Christmas. So I made a whole pot, and we ended up making a very passable resteep.
Reviews said that it tastes best slightly cooled, so I waited to call him in until I had poured it. I used three sachets in a Stump teapot, boiling water, and five minutes steep time before pouring but we did not remove the bags.
I thought it was great! This is a wonderful, wind-down in the evening cup. I tried it plain first and then based on reviews added a little sugar and milk. I liked it best plain. The milk covered up the light orange notes. Hubby add sugar and more milk than I did, and he loved it best that way. He said milk always smooths black tea for him and he felt it did for this, too. I didn’t taste anything that needed to be smoothed and milk just made it “heavy” to me so my next cups we all plain.
As hubby said, this would be delicious with something to dip in it…a Rich Tea Biscuit, biscotti, graham crackers. I am definitely going to be aggressive about finding more of this during the limited time it is available. I could really use something caffeine free that feels like comfort food for evenings, especially this winter.
Thank you, K S, for singing the praises of this tea for all these years.
I used a 16oz mug, filled it to the brim with boiling water then added two tea bags held them down at the bottom of the cup with a spoon, steeped for 9 minutes, then added several different types of cinnamon, a little ginger, and a little unsweetened vanilla cashew milk. This cup of tea was a very very nice treat and left me wanting another one when I finished it.
Flavors: Baked Bread, Cinnamon, Ginger, Molasses, Spices, Sweet, Sweet Potatoes
Preparation
I was so excited to get this tea. Who doesn’t want to tame their tension? However, it tastes terrible. How do I explain this? If you took a weak chamomile tea, and spit your slightly chewed wad of Big Red Gum into it, it would taste like this tea. In addition to the disappointing taste, my tension is still alive and well. There is no sedative effect, no soothing sensation. Just disappointing gum water. CS peppermint is quite relaxing; I think I’ll stick with that.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Mint, Paper
