Amazing smell in the dry leaves. Just gorgeous looking as well.

Very fresh, not too sweet taste of cantaloupe with a smooth feel of cream more than the taste of it. I am pleasantly surprised. I had not expected to like this one so much. I think it probably calls for more than just a sample on the next order!

I bought a new cute sakura print tea pot from Dasio for $4 – holds about 12oz of tea, which is perfect for me. I really wanted a nice green to test the pot out.

The tea pot did good, but the infuser insert was meh, so I got chunks in my tea. But they were delicious chunks! Pistachio Ice Cream is soo creamy and nutty and lots of yum! I drank this while eating a late breakfast. I immediately resteeped the leaves for something to sip on while I modpodge some tea tins. The resteeping wasn’t as creamy but still amazing. I didn’t sweeten this tea again as its pretty good as is!

I had a really hard time choosing a tea this morning – I have lots in my “haven’t tasted” pile. This one screamed out at me with its amazing smell. I needed something sweet as my bunny Benson is terrorizing me this morning with his high energy, despite him stuck on cage rest for another day.

DRY: Smells deliciously strong, sweet and nutty – reminds me of a nutty sweet I’ve had, maybe pistachio halva? Crap now I’m craving halva. Lots of chunks of pistachios in this tea!

STEEPED: Steeps up a cloudy light green. Again, still smells very sweet and nutty. I fished out a pistachio and ate it!

TASTE: Smooth, creamy and nutty pistachio with a background of green tea. Bit of a roasted taste and gently sweet. Green tea isn’t grassy or bitter. As the tea cools it is more pistachio and sweet.

WHO’D LOVE THIS TEA: Peeps who love creamy sweet dessert teas.

COMMENTS: YUMMMMMMMMMMM! I should really add rock sugar to this but it is great without so far. I am digging the creamyness and nuttyness of Pistachio Ice Cream.

I finished this tea and immediately wanted more and very tempted to steep up another cup! Oh hell, be right back.
I resteeped as I got all crazy wanting to save more of this tea. Resteeped Pistachio Ice cream has more of the green tea coming out with the creamyness sticking to my lips. The nuttyness is mostly gone and just an aftertaste, but that could of been from me picking out the pistachios and eating them, LOL! The green tea is very nice and still not bitter or grassy, yay!

The balance of the nuttyness and creamyness + green tea is fabulous! So far I’m digging how complex Butiki teas taste, but without a long ingredients list. Very well done, I’ll be very tempted to order more when I finish it off.

It’s been a long day thus far (I didn’t even realize it was Saturday until about an hour ago, that’s how distracted I’ve been!) and I was looking for something warm & comforting. This sample bag from my recent Butiki order jumped out at me immediately. I love anything pumpkin related, so I knew off the bat that I would love this tea.

My assumption was definitely not wrong! In the bag it smelled like pumpkin pie (my favorite kind of pie, so I was pretty excited!). As it steeped, the spices took the forefront of the aroma & I found myself staring at my timer trying to will it to go off.

The flavor of this is exactly as I imagined it. It tasted like autumny dreams. Spicy & creamy, pumpkiny and utterly delightful. Maybe an odd choice for a hot summer’s day, but not a bad choice because I loved it. I will definitely be purchasing this in large quantities once autumn draws near because you can’t have fall without pumpkins and what’s better than tea and pumpkins together as one! :)

I just have a smidgen of this tea left.
Seriously, I keep making smaller and smaller amounts of tea.
I feel like I am making tea for some elves that might drop by (if they did I don’t know if I would want to share though)
There is just something about this tea.
Its so dreamy, like something fairies would drink on a summer morning out of tiny teacups made of flower petals.
Yet, the fine quality Oolong is still present and not overpowered by the floral.
Very lovely tea and I will be so sad when its gone.
I think this tea would be lovely in the middle of winter when we are longing for a breath of spring.
See my previous notes for more info.

TheTeaFairy

Oh, this is such a cute post!
P.S. For sure, elves don’t stand a chance, but let’s say a fairy would present herself, would you consider sharing a tiny cup with her then? LOL, I have some of this on its way, betcha it won’t last too long…

Hesper June

Oh, yes! I would certainly share with the wee folk if they dropped in:)
I did not order a large enough amount of this from Butiki, next time I will have to see if Stacy sells it in trough sized amounts.

So, confession time.
One reason I love drinking tea, if because it evokes memories of places I have been.
Rarely, do the teas come into my mind as people, if any of you have known me long, you might suspect my deep love for Earl Grey.
Yes, my husband is aware of my admiration, but oddly enough does not feel threatened.
So far, it has just been EG and then Paris by H&S that have brought people to mind.
Till this tea.
The first time I smelt even the dry leaves of this tea I gasped.
She is stunning. In mind, spirit and body.
She is everything I ever wanted to be.
She makes me feel inferior but if I could just drink enough of this tea maybe also a little like her?
This tea is champagne colored (how perfect is that?) and when I drink I truly feel as if I should be sipping this in a champagne flute.
Classy, and always speaks eloquently with a soft smile upon her lips.
This tea is total experience that I recommend highly.
After the first couple of sips this song came to mind, so I will share it with you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AEoUa0Hlso
Now, that you think me insane for creating characters out of my tea, I shall take my leave.
Maybe I will go and try to find our wedding champagne flutes…

I placed a Butiki order yesterday, so I went to go have a Butiki tea to celebrate, I lifted up one of the bags, and this sample fell to the floor!! What excitement at finding this. I have no idea where it was hidden all this time….lol. Thanks to Stacy for this sample!

What an intriguing tea…purple tea, brews up a light yellow. I am not getting any bitterness at all. So this base is nice and smooth. I am definitely getting a sweet blueberry taste to this tea. It isn’t strong, but it is there for sure. Very yummy.

I am going to cold brew the resteep here and see how that turns out!

800th tasting note!

I’m surprised how much tea I got out of this bag, I have 1 more serving left after this! This cup is pretty good, iwth a creamy feel of the guayusa and sweet apricot, I added some german rock sugar and a cinnamon stick. OMG, I have so many cinnamon sticks from last year’s xmas and wedding gifts.

I haven’t been drinking as much guayusa and mate these days. I’ve been watching my caffeine since I feel overloaded on some days. Though today is busy so I felt open to have a cup. I got a job interview that I’m iffy on – the commute was worse than I thought it was when I applied, but I’m trying it out to the interview today to see how it is. Sigh.

WAHHGGAAH wake up! I’ve been up for 3 hours and have done nothing super constructive. Moreso zoning out on the computer. I had some mystery oolong this morning, but time to switch to something with more punch!

Apricot Guayusa! Steeped with a cinnamon stick! Arg, I have so many cinnamon sticks! Since my husband and I like to cook, people gave us lots of “Spice Sets” (mostly from Penzeys Spices, good stuff!) for wedding and christmas gifts. Not sure why, but each set came with a huge pile of cinnamon sticks. I have limited spice rack room, so I need to use these!

Very tasty! The apricot has lots of body, the guayusa is grassy creamy sweet, and the cinnamon stick adds a bit of spice. Yum! Waking up finally – now I can get some crocheting, blogging and cleaning done!

After a tiring jiu-jitsu morning, I’m having Apricot guayusa with my lunch.. in ICED TEA MODE!

Steeped 6 mins then poured over ice. Very nice after sweaty workout to pep me up with more energy. I find with AG iced the earthyness (and slight grassy) comes out some more, but still lovely apricot and creamy.

Have I told you my poker night recipe for this guayusa? If not, let me know. Its kind of awesome.

was the with the cinnamon stick? yummmm!

Yep, cinnamon sticks & brown crystal sugar. It works so well with the apricot guayusa.

WOOOT! Butiki tea order! Ohh yeah! All the teas I got smell great!

Very excited to Apricot Guayusa after having that tea trade sample of Tangerine Creamsicle – thats the great thing about tea trades, you can get introduced to new teas!

Yesterday was stressful from the rabbit neutering – he’s home and this morning he’s 80% back to normal and recovering well. I just had that one black tea and some cold steeped tea in the morning, I should of drank more tea yesterday to feel less stressed out.

Onto Apricot Guayusa!

DRY: creamy… creamy? Fruity smell. Lots of big bits of calendula, I made an attempt to mix the tea incase those flower things were sneaking up to the top, but it looks like the flowers are pretty generous and evenly distributed.

STEEPED: Light, smooth and fruity. Yellowy brown liquid.

TASTE: Smooth and slightly creamy taste almost with a bit of earthyness (the guayusa I’m guessing). Aftertaste of apricot, subtly sweet – and by apricot I mean I can imagine the flesh and the skin of the apricot blended in. No bitterness, tartness or grassyness. As the tea cools, more apricot and sweetness.

WHO’D LIKE THIS TEA: someone wanting to be introduced to guayusa. I find this tea to be much more gentle on grassyness compared to Tangerine Creamsicle.

COMMENTS: I was almost wondering if this would taste like I ate half my apricot and I dropped in on the grass after trying Tangerine Creamsicle. Apricot Guayusa is on the earthy creamy side rather than grassy.

I could see adding a sweetner would make it more apricoty but I find this tea to be enjoyable as is. I love the depth of this tea, even though it has minimal ingredients – the apricot is natural tasting, the guayusa is creamy and earthy.
And yes, starting to feel full again from the guayusa – very weird (but good, I’m doing a 20lb jiu jitsu weight loss challenge on my blog, so I need all the help I can get!)

Very awesome! I can’t wait to try more Butiki teas – but also I need to have more guayusa blends.
/searches steepster wow, there isn’t many guayusa tea blends out there! I can think up some crazy teas!

I hope your bun gets back to full health soon.

I don’t know if you have seen this before, but I have a special way of making this guayusa that I think is kind of awesome. I usually make a pot of this for guests and it goes over super well. I use a 4 cup teapot and add 2 heaping tablespoons of guayusa, 3 tablespoons of brown crystal sugar (use way less sugar if using regular sugar) and 3 cinnamon sticks. I steep for 6 minutes but leave the cinnamon sticks in the pot to intensify the cinnamon flavor. The combination of the sugar, cinnamon, and apricot is fantastic with guayusa.

We have a guayusa sampler that allows you to choose 4-6 guayusas at discounted rates. We will be adding another one soon, The Killer’s Vanilla. Would also love to hear any recommendations for new guayusa flavors.

Good luck with the weight loss. I too have noticed that guayusa makes you feel full.

Hesper June

Glad to hear your Bunny is recovering quickly!

Will Work For Tea

Butiki: Your Apricot Guayusa brew sounds really good – I’m gonna try that too (when I get around to ordering some)! Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Butiki Teas

Will Work For Tea-I think its pretty tasty and guests at our poker games always request it.

Oolong Owl

mmm, that sounds good, like an apricot crumble! That killer vanilla sounds very good!
Today I was thinking persimmon fruit in tea would be interesting, maybe with guayusa. I’m thinking the fruit is on my mind because it’s going to be in season in a few months – tastes fruity custard to me!

Butiki Teas

The Killer’s Vanilla is a mix of spearmint, lavender, and vanilla. Its calming yet awakening.

Hmmm, I don’t think I’ve ever had persimmon fruit. I will have to look for that.

I ♥ NewYorkCiTEA

Oh god, now I want a persimmon. lol ♥
