518 Tasting Notes
I haven’t had this tea in a while. I’ve been all but out and I was saving the last cup for whatever reason and also for songs unknown reason, I haven’t yet ordered more of this. Tonight the tin is now empty, but I did get a little more in my Tea Sparrow box this month.
I forgot how dang creamy this tea is. Vanilla almond creamy, with that woodsy rooibos flavor too. It’s good. Really good.
I’m exhausted and wide awake so hopefully this tea helps me get to sleep. We’ll see.
This tea is so rich and flavorful. It’s got very strong hay notes, and quite a bit of malt for a white.
Creamy, rich, tasty, filling.
It went incredibly well with that piece of shortbread.
Comfortable.
My spouse is curled up with two of the kitties. He jokingly called himself the crazy cat lady. Usually, in the evenings when we’re lounging on the couch watching TV the kitties curl up with me. I feel kinda jealous, but it’s also much easier for me to refill the tea mug.
Meh.
I made this one iced as well, because it has totally been an iced tea day.
But this one is not my favorite. The blueberry is a little over the top and fake. It’s a shame because I think the shou mei is pretty nice in this tea, but overwhelmed by the fake blueberry. A little sugar might have helped the fake blueberry not taste so wrong to me, but I am hesitant to add sugar to iced tea.
If anyone is interested in trying this tea, let me know.
This tea was part of July’s Tea Sparrow box. Yes, I’m just getting around to trying it.
I made this iced as my husband and I are sitting out the patio monitoring the new apparatus had for controlling temperature for his smoker setup. It’s kind of a sticky day so tea sounded best.
Yes, iced was a good option. This tea is sweet and tasty. I don’t know what lychee tastes like, but I’m guessing that’s what it is. This is a pleasant tea for a sticky afternoon.
Ooh. Now this, I like.
I like it a lot.
It’s beautiful in my mouth. Almost sweet, incredibly silky. I’m not quite sure what this tastes like, but it is really good.
Yes, I could drink a lot of this.
And it’s inexpensive, as far as that goes, too. I will be getting some more of this with my next WP order and try aging it.
comforting.
I have a splitting headache. We were going to go watch one of my favorite local bands in the beer garden, but I hurt so bad I was feeling nauseated. Sweet spouse drove me home, and headed back to the bar. Hah.
So I took a shower to try to relax my neck, which is where this wonderful stress headache is coming from, and it helped a little but not much. So this tea is keeping me company. I’m going to go curl up with my Kindle and maybe read, if my head will let me. The computer screen is not playing nice with my head, though, so I’m giving that up.
I did this one today grandpa style for my morning tea. It was a great tea to do this way, at a bit of a cooler temp. Creamy, buttery, sweet, tasty!
It’s a good thing I had good tea to keep me company as my day has just been really cruddy at work. I don’t know when we’ll even see the light at the end of the tunnel.
But good tea to keep one company is a great start. And it’s almost the end of the work day, which really helps.
From my July Tea Sparrow box.
I was not expecting to like this tisane as much as I am. It’s what I wanted Lemon Chiffon to be and wasn’t. It’s the perfect amount of lemon, creamy and sweet. I think the rooibos is the perfect background for the flavors. (I like rooibos. I know not everyone does.)
I’m definitely glad I got to try this one.
I’m posting this from my phone and it really doesn’t like the Steepster site at all, especially not the tasting not pop-up screen, so please excuse any typos I missed.
I forgot to post an update about my cat. Nothing showed up on the X-ray except for the thing in his lung we already knew about, but that hasn’t changed. So we’re trying antibiotics. This meant I had to cancel my weekend travel so we can be home to pill the cat. Thankfully, Mr. Penny loves to take pills if they are put in a soft treat. That boy will do anything for a treat.
Penny Penster seems to be about the same this morning, but he came out from behind the couch and was begging for treats. I wish I could have worked from home again today to keep an eye on things, but I know he’ll be fine. Last time he did something like this he started responding to the antibiotics quite quickly – about 36 hours.
A friend brought this back for me as a gift from China. It’s from Taiwan, though.
I’m having it grandpa style, and I think it works really well that way. I just put a bunch in my carry mug, did a quick rinse, and then add more water as I want. I keep the water cooler, in the 160-170°F range. I find that works better for me when doing grandpa so I can actually drink it right away. (Plus, it doesn’t cool off in the carry mug, even though I’ve got the top off. I’m just using the carry mug for the screen.)
A little mineral, which I sometimes like in an oolong, and sweet and creamy. This is a nice tea, especially when I have it this way.
Will do! It’s a good tea to add, although it’s hard because I don’t know where to get more of it, you know?
Well, I meant it’s hard because no one else can get it. If you want to try it, I’ll include a sample for you.
