562 Tasting Notes
The first time I made this, I honestly hated it. I liked it at the tea festival a year ago when I got it and I steeped it up here at home either Shortly after that in the spring or near the end of the year last year. I really can’t remember. I didn’t like it at all at that point. It was not my thing at all.
Today I’m trying it again, and for some reason I thought I’d try a lower water temp as maybe that’s why I hated it? Maybe I had used too hot of water? And I thought maybe it was a green tea in my head for some unknown reason?
Anyways, I did 75C water. And I like it much better, but I still don’t love it. I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely not one for me. To me it just tastes earthy and like hay almost. I was hoping for some more interesting tasting notes than that. Someone else that reviewed this tea said they taste plum or fruit notes? I wish I got that. I don’t find those flavours in there….
Maybe pu’erh teas are just not for me…. I obviously don’t have a refined enough palette for them. I’m really not sure what I’m going to do with this tea now…
I meant to review this one the other day because I made a latte out of it and WOW! So yummy! I remember not being overly impressed with this one when I first tried it just hot. I felt like it was lacking or something, but this time it’s so delicious! It was sweet and creamy and the mint was so refreshing too! I only got the 100g tin of it (which was only about half a tin) and if I’m going to drink it as lattes, then I know I’m going to go through it pretty fast. I would get this again if for no other reason than to have it as lattes. I hope they bring it back next winter because I would absolutely get a full tin of it again.
So, Im really not sure about this one. I had it hot today with a splash of milk, but honestly I don’t really get any maple flavour from this one. I only get that it’s slightly grassy and sweet from the sugar cane. I used 2 matcha spoons in my 10oz (or is it 12oz) cup so I didn’t expect it to be weak, but it definitely was missing something. I might end up trying it again with another scoop added
I made this as an iced tea… oh yikes… This is not for me! Wow… hibiscus… and what in the world is with the liquorice root? What?! And I just can’t wrap my head around the rooibos in this either… Wow… this tea is weird. and floral… … …?
I’m sure there are people out there that would love it, but not me! I will be tossing the last bit I have of this one left. I won’t be drinking this one again. So weird. I can’t do it.
I needed something very yummy and delicious tonight. I’ve had quite the last… week, but mostly 24hrs. It’s a lot to type and I’m far too tired to type it out, but I will say this. Yesterday was terrible ‘cause I was feeling guilty and my son was definitely going to have surgery, but after talking to a chiropractor today, there’s a chance that they might be able to help him and hopefully avoid surgery! He’s 2 years old btw. I don’t want him to need surgery at this age!
Anyways, this is so delicious. I added an extra scoop to this one too. I did 2 PS of this one and 1 tsp of freeze-dried strawberry pieces. It’s so delicious and it’s helping me relax and just feel better. My son is going to be okay. He’s a sweetheart and he’ll bounce back either way. I know he will.
Got this one back in December right before baby #2 made his early entrance into the world.
The first time I had it, I didn’t care for it at all. I’m so use to Davidstea’s matchas that have the sugar in them, that this one really surprised me when it wasn’t sweet. So, today I had a thought… why not mix it with a davidstea one and see what happens!
I put one matcha spoon of this one and one of Peach matcha from davidstea. And it was really good! The pineapple was the leading flavour. I didn’t really get much peach, but the sweetness of the davidstea peach matcha did come through. So, that made me enjoy this one a lot. And I really liked that it wasn’t overly sweet like I sometimes find the davidstea flavoured ones to be. I would absolutely do this mix again. I might even mix this one with the vanilla one next to see how it turns out. Maybe even add a bit more of the davidstea one and see if it can shine a bit more.
Maybe I’m crazy, but there seems to be a few pineapple pieces that showed up? Or did I just not whisk it enough? I didn’t like that part at all. I took most of them out. I don’t like to eat my matcha. But yeah I would get this one again. And I bet it would be good in orange juice.
This one is minty and sweet, but not too grassy which is nice. I’ve had my small amount for quite a while so I’m trying to use it up, but I definitely don’t grab for it very often. I much prefer the vanilla and the fruity ones that they’ve had. I really hope strawberry makes a comeback because YUM!
Meant to review this one there other day, so this is going off of memory. I made this as a latte with my hazelnut agave and it was pretty good. It was a bit strong and a bit too sweet as I went a bit nuts on the sweetener, but whatever. I did enjoy it. I’m not sure if I Would get this one again or not…
So, I combined Wild Cherry and Strawberry Kiwi from Citizen Tea as I only had one spoonful of each and I knew that I wouldn’t drink these hot.
I’m finding the cherry is definitely overtaking the strawberry. I’m getting little bit of strawberry but not a whole lot… which is okay I guess… probably wouldn’t combine these again…
