2810 Tasting Notes
So I panic ordered a number of Lupicia teas, as the word on the street is that they will not be selling in the US any minute now. Welp. So I placed a huge order, for a bunch of stuff I’ve been meaning to try.
I picked this up because it sounded a bit like my beloved Harney & Sons Tower of London. Redfruit? Figs? Cool! Sounds worth a try to me!
I am a bit dispointed in this one. It’s fruit flavor is not very strong, more a sort of fruity suggestion rather than the rich, layered flavor I would really like.
That said, its not unpleasant, just not very exciting.
Well, I’ve got a bit of it, so I’ll toy around with the steep time. Sometimes that brings out flavors I hardly dreamed about.
Well, time to crack open a new tea! And whoo boy, is it a strong one.
Thats not a criticism, exactly. Sometimes a very strong tea is exactly what I need. But this morning I’m finding it maybe a little too malty…
Breakfast blends and I are not always the very best of friends, but I am getting to know them better, which is very good!
I’ve been pondering my 2019 tea goals. There are a few things I’ve been wanting to do, so here are my tea-year resolutions.
1. Keep the cupboard manageable. I am trying, in all aspects of my life, to not let my possesions overwhelm me, and that certainly goes for tea. Last year I worked my way through tons and tons of blends, and now feel much less overwhelmed when I need to pick a tea for breakfast.
2. Budget of $500- this is optimistic. I had the same budget last year and overshot it by $100, but hey. It will at least keep me mindful of the money I am spending on tea.
3. New teas. I feel that I’ve been in a little bit of a tea rut over the last couple of years. I found teas I like and largely stuck to them, but I think shaking it up and trying new brands and new things will be really good. Part of this is necessity, too, as I hear that Lupicia, a beloved cupboard staple, is closing, so I won’t have that to fall back on. (sobbing).
I’m sure these ideas will be refined as I go, but thats the bones of it.
