2810 Tasting Notes
So I wrote a long note on Monday about a cool event I went to over the weekend where I got this and a couple other teas, but Steepster ate it. Boo. I’ll re-write it, but not today.
Today I am exsausted. It’s been over 100 degrees for the last few days, and my air conditioner is phoning it in. It never got below 80 degrees in my house last night, and hasn’t for the last couple of nights.
I’m knackered. I am dragging my sorry carcass all around making mewling noises, drinking my own weight in ice water, and considering sticking my head in the freezer.
So I wont write a more intense note today than to say this is a mild black tea, with delicate lemon and vanilla, and it’s very nice today.
Ugh. Summer.
So my cupboard is absolutely minuscule, which is mind boggling. I’m part proud, and part frantic.
I was trying to get my cupboard into better shape, and am rather proud of myself for doing so, but I think I’ve hit the opposite end, and that it’s time to go tea shopping!
The good news about the smaller cupboard means that I feel the freedom to bring in some new to me companies, and that would be good! Try all the new teas!
That’s so fun! Just remember to exercise some restraint so you don’t end up undoing all your hard work, haha. I feel like that’s the pattern I’m struggling with (not that I’ve ever reached any version of “miniscule” in the last 7 years).
Suddenly it’s summer again. The temperature has, almost over night, vaulted into the upper 90’s, and my season of despair has begun.
Its so tricky to drink tea in this weather! I don’t like it, Sam I Am.
I picked up a new tin of this on a whim. It had been years since I last had it, and, you know what? I still like it! It fills a solid, basic part of the cupboard, which is great.
I am not sure where you are, Rosehips, but we have already been in the 100’s here in NC. One year, we had over thirty days straight of +95 temps with many if those days being +100. I confess that I turned the a/c to 72 and took a cold shower in the middle of the day just so I coukd really enjoy a hot cuppa.
I decided to open my last package of this today, and of course it’s going to rain and not feel very spring like. Timing!
I was once completely enamored of this tea, and while I still like it, I’m not as sad as I thought I would be over the fact that this is the end of it.
But I will try to slow down and enjoy this today.
It’s going to be a long day- I’ve the first rehersal for the new play I’m in, and I could not sleep last night, so I am dragging this morning.
Ugh.
Help me, oh cup of life-giving nectar! Ease me into reality with your sweet kiss!
It’s one of those weeks that is going to be busy. I have an audition tonight, a board meeting tomorrow, I teach a class Thursday night, and, on top of it all I’m congested and my stomach is a touch upset.
Woo.
So, tea is absolutely essential in these situations. Gimmie this mug!
One of these days I’m going to learn how to relax. Not today, mind you, but one of these days.
Whew! March was a whirlwind, and I don’t know that I posted at all. Whoops.
Life is still going to be busy, but I have no intention of letting my tea logging getting away from me again.
I’ve cracked into my final tin of Carol (a moment of silence for Lupicia….)
I’m going to miss this blend. It’s a candy like, silly sort of blend, but I’ve always really enjoyed it.
Oh well.
I have quite a bit if you’d like more, Rosehips. I think you can also put a phone order of it to their Hawaii store.
Let it be known that Carol has coconut and goes bad. (I had the misfortune of drinking a teabag with rancid coconut). Just FYI.
My mom used to say, “When it’s cold, you can always pile on another layer. When it’s hot, there are only so many layers to peel off.” Should you care to venture into southwest Missouri, we’re having the coolest June we’ve seen in years. Temps 50’s at night; mid-70’s daytime. The downside is the record WET that’s accompanying the temps. Farmers that generally pray for rain are praying for enough dry days for the wheat to mature and the soybeans to get planted. It’s getting late for both.
Oh! Rosehips! How miserable! Is the a/c broken or is it just too hot for it to keep up? Ditto on what gmathis said about cokd and hot, you can always add a layer but when it is hot there is only so much you can do to cool off. We just had the most insufferable May – the hottest I remember in years, but June has been blissful so far. Lows in the 60’s, highs in the 80’s…unheard of! And cloudy and rainy to boot, so it feels even cooler. I hope you get some relief soon!
