736 Tasting Notes
So this is another tea from, Sarsonator! ^^
I never purchased this tea because I probably wouldn’t like it if it were overwhelmingly nutty. But Sarsonator generously offered to send me a sample of it! Because she is just freakin’ awesome like that!
I over steeped it by a few minutes on accident, so this review might not be AS accurate as it could be. But I’ll do it right when I re-steep it. :P
This one surprised me even so! I can definitely taste the walnut, but it’s not too much or anything. It goes nicely with the banana flavor. It’s not too much of either flavor. Just the perfect amount of both.
Leaves a pretty strong banana after taste though, but not anything to complain about-haha!
Another fantastic tea from Butiki! Thank you so much for the sample, Sarsonator! :D
Flavors: banana, Sweet, Walnut
Got a sample of this tea from the awesome Sarsonator!
Been wanting to try it for a while but whenever I order it seems to be out of stock. :S
I love the look of this tea-it’s so different. It’s curly and soft. I never imagined I’d be so amused by how certain teas looked and felt. But different textures of teas are so unique and awesome-it just makes me smile. :P
I thought this tea was going to taste a lot like the Golden Snail, but it smells and tastes a lot more like bread than sweet potatoes.
It’s smooth with hints of honey and cocoa. But they aren’t too strong in this cup at least. Maybe in a few steeps those flavors will come out more.
Noticed that a lot of people taste malt in this tea, but I’m not really getting any malt for some reason.
So, my conclusion: A lot more bready than the Golden Snails, which I actually really like. Think I will have to get more of this myself! :O Another win by Whispering Pines! :D
Flavors: Baked Bread, Cocoa, Honey, Smooth
Bought this in…Someone’s stash sale. xD Blanking out on the username-haha!
DTT tends to make pretty good chocolate teas in my book, so I figured I’d give this one a shot!
Wasn’t sure if I’d like this since I haven’t seemed to like mint teas lately. But this one is actually pretty good! The mint doesn’t outweigh the chocolate too much.
But I think the best mint tea that I’ve tried so far is DavidsTea’s Read My Lips. This one is good, but wouldn’t buy more!
Flavors: Chocolate, Mint
Nope. Nope. Nope.
What kind of mix is this anyway? D:
I can definitely taste the rum and ice cream. But just….no.
Not a fan of these flavors….Glad this was just a sample haha!
Flavors: Rum
So I know that most of you have outgrown Teavana, or hated it from the beginning…but there are still some teas that I really love there and will probably still buy occasionally when I run out.
Not sure I will repurchase this one though. I have wavered on my love for Monkey Picked Oolong in my not drinking so many roasty teas lately. And plus, there are other places that carry Monkey Picked Oolong, and are wayy cheaper and good enough for a substitute. So far it’s Teavivre’s Monkey Picked Oolong that’s the best replacement.
But anyway. I probably could throw this tea together since it’s only silver needle, jasmine oolong, and monkey picked oolong.
So not sure if I will buy this again. $14 isn’t a horrible price for 2oz in my book if it’s all consisted of expensive teas anyway.
I steep this one grandpa style. It’s strong and perfume-y.
The silver needle has really grown on me in this tea. Sometimes it’s really strong, but this time the jasmine oolong took over. It’s a lovely tea, and something that I find myself craving from time to time.
I think Teavana did pretty good on this tea. Probably the best, or least one of the best teas they have. And not too overly priced!
Flavors: Hay, Jasmine, Perfume
This actually sounds like a good Teavana tea. Most of what I’ve had from there has been so disappointing. I did like the Jasmine silver needle, but not as much as I love TeaVivre’s version. Most of their teas are just filler and overpriced, which is my biggest problem.
I can send you a sample if you are that curious about it so you don’t gotta waste your money on a tea you might hate! Hit me up if you’re interested!
And totally get you on being disappointed. I’ve been more disappointed than not overall with their teas. But there are still some good ones worth the money!
This is another tea from Mandy.
Not getting too much caramel from this one to be honest. Getting more of a burnt creme brule flavor for some reason. xD Don’t know why. Not such a fan of this one.
But these samples have been a nice distraction from feeling horrible today, so that’s nice at least. Thanks so much, Mandy! (:
=(. I’m guessing burnt as in not that ‘slightly burnt sugar taste’ but more ‘burnt to charcoal’ taste?
I’m sorry you’ve been having a bad day. Here’s something cute and fluffy: http://instagram.com/p/r_gCqYxNCN/
This smells like wood while steeping….
I’ve only had English Breakfast one other time…when last year my friend from England made me a “traditional English” cup of tea with milk and all. Didn’t like it then, but can’t remember what it tasted like. Don’t remember it tasting like wood though.
I like the malty black teas…need more malty black teas to try. I keep finding all these woody teas…
I would think maybe my taste is just changing. But then I try black teas that I have that I love and thought were malty and they taste the same. Maybe I just keep buying the wrong teas…I don’t know.
If anyone has any really good malty teas to recommend, let me know! Because I really wanna find a good, malty tea!
This one, however, is not as bad as expected.
It’s like half malty and half woody. It’s initially a light malt flavor but then changes to wood. It’s weird. But not actually that bad. I would drink this again. Wouldn’t buy it, but would drink it again willingly.
Harney & Sons sent me 4 tea bags of this as free samples. xD Guess they really wanted me to try this one-haha! As I’m finishing the first steep I actually can see this tea growing on me. But I guess I will see what happens with the next three tea bags. :P
Flavors: Malt, Wood
Yes, same here, I haven’t ordered any of their teas yet because of the quantity issue. I was lucky cause a friend sent me a sample of Tiger Assam and I really like it!
Got a surprise package in the sweet and thoughtful Mandy! A bunch of desert teas! Which I’m ALWAYS a fan of!
This one smelled ridiculously strong when I opened the bag. Which I hoped was a good sign. But it seems good smells can often betray dessert teas.
As for flavor there’s a WHOLE lot of butterscotch and caramel in it. Not tasting tons of toffee, just hints of it here and there.
There was mainly a caramel flavor in the first steep, and second mainly butterscotch…maybe for my third steep I will get a lot of toffee. xD
It’s definitely better than I expected it to be.
Though, steeped a couple minutes over the second time so kinda bitter. But good overall. Thank you so much, Mandy! (:
Flavors: Bitter, Butterscotch, Caramel, Sweet
Ever since mj sent me a sample of this tea I’ve been in love!
Could barely sleep last night but finally took a pain killer at 6. Thank God I have something to calm my stupid body down. xD Haven’t been able to sleep now, but figured tea would probably help calm me down some mentally and emotionally.
Think I was right. (:
Leave it to a lovely black tea to do the trick! ^^
Yesssss! FINALLY get to try this. I’ve been RIDICULOUSLY excited about this tea. Like you have no idea.xD Ever since I had their Melon Oolong I’ve been desperate to try the famous Golden Honeydew!
Not even exaggerating. I ordered 5 tins of this tea. That’s kinda a big risk xD But I figured if it’s anything like Melon Oolong it will just be incredible and I should stock up on it while I can. :P
Well. Good news, guys. I didn’t waste my money!
Kinda feel a bit bummed out about the Momoko tea, but I was not disappointed by this one.
When I opened the bag I was hit by a strong wave of honeydew. Ugh. It was amazing. One of the strongest teas I’ve ever smelled.
As for taste, the initial taste was strong like the smell but it didn’t seem to last all throughout the actual drink. This probably won’t make sense…but you know when you swallow a tea and it tastes different from when you first sip it? That’s kinda how this tea is. Perhaps it’s the rooibos base that makes it taste like the flavor doesn’t last all the way through…but…I don’t know.
Haha that probably makes 0 sense. xD You just gotta try it and you’ll understand what I mean! :P But it’s an amazing tea overall. I think I might actually like the melon oolong and this one the same. They’re both wonderful teas and I’m glad I didn’t waste my money. Definitely worth trying!!
But if any of you order from Lupicia and this flavor isn’t available, definitely order Melon Oolong, because it’s pretty similar!
Both are amazing!! :D :D
Flavors: Honeydew, Melon, Sweet
