736 Tasting Notes
This one is wayyy too roasty for me. Was under the impression it would be floral, but totally ended up being the opposite. My taste buds are just weird. xD But I liked that the oolong was in a tea bag-heh, I like to be lazy sometimes. :P Oolongs in bags aren’t so common to me but didn’t mind it. Anyway, it was okay I guess.
Not my favorite.
But thanks for the sample, Liquid Proust! See! I’m getting through these samples! It’s just taking longer than I thought D:
Flavors: Roasted
So this is an oolong sample I got from the very generous swap I got from Liquid Proust! I hate that it’s taken so so long to get to the teas you’ve sent me. I’ve been having to drink herbals so much lately because my body keeps randomly tensing up…I’m not a fan :( So yeah, sorry, and to anyone else who has swapped with me this year and I haven’t reviewed the teas you gave me. I’m trying new ones when I can but trying to drink the favorites that are caffeinated before they get old, when I can, but most of the time it’s just decaf, low caff, and no caff for me these days. :(
Anyway! Not sure where this is from. The label just says “Premium Oolong Min Shen En” And then he wrote, "Smell it (: " xD So yeah, no idea where it’s from. But finally got to trying it. Was a pretty light oolong over all. A lot of vegetable flavors-not really floral. Just like vegetables…haha, I’m so tired, it’s hard for me to explain how I feel about this tea! XD
Drank the whole cup of it, it had a nice sweet note to it that I rather liked but it wasn’t my absolute favorite. Probably will give the rest of the sample to someone else who would like it more. (: But thanks for letting me try, Liquid Proust!! I am always happy to try more oolongs!
Flavors: Sweet, Vegetables, Vegetal
Wasn’t sure what to think of this-mainly because I have no idea what a cactus tastes like. But The Cookie Lady sent me a generous sample of this tea. Apparently it’s famous with DavidsTea fans, which I’m definitely not on the same page with when it comes to tea xD
But yeah, any, this tasted lightly fruity and like cucumbers. That’s the main thing that came to mind. And maybe a touch of cantaloupe. Wasn’t awful. Wasn’t my fav of course either. Glad I got to try it though, but definitely not worth the hype in my world! :P
Flavors: Cantaloupe, Cucumber, Fruity, Smooth
Okay, so I think that this is the tea that The Cookie Lady gave me in the last swap-she didn’t say it was iced tea, but just that it was green tea w/ coconut.
I had it hot and I’m not big on iced teas…sooo…yeah xD
This one wasn’t super coconut-y, which was a lil disappointing, but not too much since I’m not a massive coconut fan. But the main flavor in this was grass, which is exactly why I don’t like green teas usually. Don’t like grassy flavors. xD But that’s okay. I know a lot of people usually like to taste the base of the tea if it’s flavored on here, so I feel if you’re one of those people and likes coconut, you’ll love this one. You taste coconut obviously, but to me it doesn’t go well with grass is all :P
Flavors: Coconut, Grass
Got a generous sample from Liquid_Proust a few months ago and a couple weeks ago I finally got to try this tea. Stupid health issues have been in my way of tea drinking :( But trying to do more! And I am slowly being able to. This one wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. Not that it’s a horrible tea.
The base tea tastes like a roasty oolong. Which, if you know me at all, you know I’m more into the green oolongs that have floral taste. Floral Oolongs are my favorite kind of tea, hands down.
But yeah, I mean a floral base would be super weird with caramel, so I guess it makes more sense that they went with a more roasted one. I definitely tasted the caramel, just the base tea was present so wasn’t a huge fan.
If you don’t mind roasty oolongs, and love caramel teas I think you’d really like this one actually. I just need like a rooibos caramel tea or something. Which I actually do have and is good. But yeah, not my cuppa :P
Flavors: Caramel, Creamy, Roasted
Got a sample of this from the lovely The Cookie Lady!! Love trying more H&S teas, and she gave me a LOT in the last swap. I’ve always wondered how this one would be.
But like I’ve said, before, I’m not into chocolate flavored teas. This one was more nutty than chocolate, so that was kinda surprising. Almost reminded me of a chocolate flavored peanut. Not any other nut that I like-but a peanut. I really don’t like peanuts all that much anymore. They’re in everything it feels like! Especially with chocolate. Peanuts are life ruiners. D: Unless they are in their shells and salted, then they’re good. well the shells are…okay, I’ll stop talking about peanuts now, sorry. xD
Flavors: Chocolate, Nuts, Nutty, Peanut
If you want a super chocolate-y chocolate tea then try this one!
I feel any any chocolate lover would LOVE it.
It’s not half bad.
But like I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge chocolate fan. Was a free sample that I got from their store. So didn’t have to waste money or anything! But glad I’m realizing chocolate flavored teas aren’t really for me unless they naturally taste that way. But yeah, anyway, if you love chocolate you’ll love this one! Plus it’s super smooth, surprisingly smooth. So that’s a bonus!
Flavors: Chocolate, Smooth
This is the third tea I got from my brother. And maybe the best one he picked out xD
I’ve had it twice now. The first time I drank it, it made me super relaxed and sleepy, which was nice. Was looking for the same effect tonight, but I didn’t get it :( I don’t know why sometimes chamomiles make me tired and then sometimes they don’t.
This chamomile is definitely way better than the one I got at Trader Joe’s. Like way better. It is fresh, sweet, doesn’t taste like there’s dust in it from age or anything. It’s just a really nice, calming chamomile tea. Though I do wish that I’d have better tea bags because somehow the tea gets out of the sachets I have, which doesn’t happen with even rooibos. Wish this one was already in tea bags…but hey, at least it makes me sleepy sometimes and it tastes sweet and fresh. Not bad! (:
Flavors: Sweet
Try brewing in the kettle or stovepot and then pouring through the strainer/filter/tea-ball. Bringing the chamomile to a boil and then letting it steep will give you a deeper and richer flavor anyway.
I also suspect that the reason it sometimes affects you and sometimes not is because sometimes it is under-brewed. If you bring it to a boil directly and let it stay warm will brewing for 5 or 10 minutes, it will always provide you with that authentic chamomile feeling you are looking for.
Sooo got an once of this tea from the farmer’s market trip with my family a couple months back, I think in April it was? Not entirely sure.
There was only ONE tea shop in the entire Farmer’s Market, and I didn’t even go there for tea in the first place. I heard there was boba there, so I went. And then they ended up not having it, sooo I just decided to get a couple teas. Most of them were over-priced, but this one wasn’t too bad and apparently it was one of the most popular blends. It was a jasmine/rose/vanilla blend. Soo I was interested.
It’s definitely flowery. Like really flowery. I taste a little jasmine but it’s mostly rose flavor and other flowery flavors. Also a pretty strong vanilla flavor in there. It’s a really odd blend. I think that if the flowery flavors were toned down a bit I’d like it more, but for me it’s too much. Just like Rivendell From WP was. If you like That tea, you would probably really like this blend. Sent some to a couple tea buddies already, well actually just one. Still need to write Albertocanfly back so I can officially send her tea package. Hopefully she will like it. I’m really curious to hear her thoughts.
It’s not the worse tea I’ve ever had, but not my favorite. Too much flower power in this tea. D:
Flavors: Floral, Flowers, Jasmine, Rose, Vanilla
I had some extra time this week! :] I just wanted to read up on what teas you have had lately and see what you are liking and disliking because I have some teas that I want to send your way! I miss you, too! :]
