736 Tasting Notes
So this was a sample I got from ATR when I went there last.
They always seem to be promoting this tea, so I was curious about it. But I wouldn’t have ever bought a sample of it.
I could taste the cocoa and chocolate the most, but also there was a weird flavor that I can’t put my finger on…think it might have been the licorice root and coconut that just made it taste funky. It’s a very odd tea, definitely not going to drink again. And it definitely doesn’t remind me of a macaroon…like at all.
But I guess I’m glad I got to try it over all. I’m gonna have to find another home for this one too…onto the list it goes. xD
Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Coconut, Licorice
What the freakin’ crap!? This isn’t lemon at all. Lemon my foot! I feel so betrayed! D:
This is TOTALLY orange flavor! Eww Eww Eww!
I totally smelled it when I opened the bag and I was hoping the actual taste would be different. But it wasn’t. :(
It was like drinking hot orange juice.
Ewww.
I hate this tea so muchhh.
Such a betrayal. D:
Yeah I’m just gonna give this one away for free. Not my thing at all. Ewww I just can’t do it. BLehhh :S
Flavors: Citrus, Orange
Another tea that TheLastDodo graciously split with me! Have been dying to try this one FOR FOREVER!
But no one seemed to have it. Kinda get why now that I have it. Don’t really taste any kiwi in it…maybe a little, but it just tastes like a bundle of fruits. Disappointed again. :/ What a shame. Plus, I love the Pee-Wee reference in the name of this tea-a name wasted on a tea that doesn’t live up to it. D:
Sad times.
But thankful I got to try it.
There’s only a couple more DavidsTeas I wanna try, but…I think I’ll just wait to find someone who has them and is willing to swap because I have way too bad of luck with buying from them and either having CS issues with my order, or just not liking most of the teas. xD Oy vey.
This tea isn’t bad, but it’s not something I’d buy. Didn’t live up to it’s name in my book :/ But thanks again for splitting this one, TheLastDodo! you are awesome! :D
Flavors: Fruity
Thanks to TheLastDodo for ordering from DavidsTea and then splitting some of those teas with me! Really really had high hopes for this one, but of course, much like pretty much every other unflavored tea from them, it disappointed me. xD
They need to stop trying to do unflavored teas, it’s just not working. Like at all.
headdesk
I steeped it for the right time and everything but it was just bitter and inky as if it had been steeped for 10 minutes or something. Had a little malt, but not enough to make it a good Irish Breakfast tea. So glad I didn’t waste my money on more of their bad teas, this one would have been another big mistake!
So thanks so much for splitting it, TheLastDodo! It was so much fun to swap with you! I’d totally do it again! Was my pleasure! :D
Flavors: Bitter, Malt
Tried this one yesterday, and didn’t feel up to logging. Tried this one for the first time…I got it because it sounded just different, and maybe like something I’d like. I got it super cheap for one, so figured it wouldn’t hurt. Plus I also thought it might be a bit floral-y. Glad I didn’t waste my money too much…
Never had this kind of oolong before.
But it was super super sweet. Like it tasted like someone dumped a bunch of sugar in it. And like there were orchid hints in the background of the tea…but mostly it just tasted like sugar. It was so so weird. I don’t really know what to make of it, so I’m not gonna rate it…I’m gonna try it one more time before I decide its fate…it came in two bags, and I’ll probbaly put one of the bags up for sale because I don’t think I can deal with that kind of overly sweet tea…But I’m definitely gonna try it again…it is just so different. And I’ve never seen it on any other tea website….I don’t know. It’s just odd to me!
Flavors: Sugar, Sweet
Soo a few weeks ago by bro sent me some tea…I told him that I’ve been drinking herbals more lately, so he sent me a few different chamomile teas. xD Not exactly what I was expecting.
But like He got tea a few months ago and was acting like it was just all that, and it was Twinnings, and like English Breakfast teas, two things which I really really dislike. So I didn’t trust him. xD He doesn’t know good tea, and since I have been drinking a lot of herbal teas, I thought it was a safe bet….
Well…let’s just say…his picks are most interesting.
For one, he sent me this like menstrul tea, literally-that’s the name…and it smells absolutely horrible. Like I have no idea why he sent me that….but like I really wanna throw it away. Sooo badly. But I just will kinda feel guilty about it….He probably thought itwould help my pain or something….which no matter how many times I explain my health issues to him, he just doesn’t get it….So yeah…that’s awkward….
Also this tea adds to his bad thinking too. xD Chamomile might make me feel relaxed, like my muscles for a bit, but doesn’t help my nerves. xD Ohhh Adam. You tried. xD
Anyway!
With that back story I’ll just say this was an alright tea. Not the best. Not the worst. Like I highly doubt I’ll finish it….It’s so much tea, like I’m either gonna just give half of it away or send it away in a swap or something. It’s just a weird combo of things.
Dry leaf smelled like chamomile, of course.
But when I drank it, it was sweet and kinda flowery, but also sour from the chamomile and minty from the peppermint…It’s just a weird blend of things…I’m sure it’s a tea that will grow on me, but it just is an odd tea. That’s for sure.
I am not gonna rate it because I still don’t know what to think of it :S Oy….
Flavors: Flowers, Peppermint, Smooth, Sour, Sweet
Oh my freakin’ word! This freakin’ tea is freakin’ amazing!!
Don’t know why I keep saying freakin’….I guess I just haven’t tried a new tea that’s “wow-ed” me THIS much before. It’s crazy!
I had wanted to get it when Butiki Teas was still opened, but didn’t have the chance because when I went to order it, I ended up with an email about it being sold out. :(
Didn’t think I’d have the chance to try this one, but thanks to the incredibly generous VariaTEA for this tea!!!
After two cups of it, I still don’t know what to think-it’s like nothing I’ve ever had.
The base of this blend looks like PTA….I think it is because it really tastes like it, but I’m not entirely sure. So correct me if I’m wrong! It was really malty, and kinda almost fruity. I wouldn’t say it tasted like white chocolate tons, but it did taste like it just enough to make you think of white chocolate. White chocolate and the base tea just blend so perfectly together. And it’s soo smooth. I’m so impressed!
I absolutely adore this tea! So thankful I got a chance to try it! Thank you so so much VariaTEA!!!! :D :D
Edit Also just realized this is my 700th tasting note! Woot! :D
Flavors: Baked Bread, Honey, Malt, Smooth, Sweet, White Chocolate
So this one is woody, with a hint of bread to it. Might be really woody because I over-steeped it a bit, but It wasn’t a long over-steep so I think that that note kinda already existed there. :/
So yeah, not really a fan. Think I’ll just list this one as a freebie on my sale list. xD It’s not that it’s a bad tea, I guess I’m just not in the mood to play around with it tons to make sure that it can’t be a really good tea that I fall in love with. :S
Flavors: Baked Bread, Wood
You can make Hong Kong Milk Tea with this one… DavidsTea had a recipe a couple years ago. :)

So I over-steeped this a wee bit today.
I’ve had this sample for a while now and I’m finally getting around to trying it. Figure I needed black tea in my system. Only got like two hours of sleep over all today and I’m feeling really stressed with having to move like everything in my room over to my gparents’ room so my dad’s worker can update my bathroom. Which I’m not super happy about for a few different reasons. :/
And valid ones at that!
The guy just came over and basically said this is gonna take a lot longer than a couple days, so not thrilled over that either. Oy. This isn’t my day.
On the bright side, other than this having that weird inky taste from over-steeping, it’s pretty malty. Which I love! Has a touch of bready notes which I also like. Definitely going to be trying this one again. I have a feeling that when I steep it right it will be an amazing black tea! :D
Flavors: Baked Bread, Malt
Soo I don’t know exactly what I expected this tea to be…but I had really wanted to try it when i put in my order.
This tea was kinda flowery and grassy-it reminds me more of a green tea rather than an oolong to be honest. It’s definitely not a heavy or overwhelming tea. It’s very very light. And the dry leaf aroma is hardly even there.
Probably one of the lightest oolongs I’ve ever had. Well, least I got to try it. xD
But I won’t drink it again. It’s an interesting tea, but not for me.
Going on the “to sell” list. xD
Flavors: Flowers, Grass
Normally, I’d probably say yes, but I have a crap load of samples from swaps or just from orders that I’ve been needing to try…sooo I am just gonna sell this one. I’ll sell it cheap though, if you’re that interested in it, well I’ll sell it cheap either way. But it’s 50g minus 1tsp, just opened it today, and put it in a ziplock bag to help keep it fresh since those bags don’t have a seal on them, Skysamurai.
It shocks me what teas some companies choose to represent themselves.
But a lot of people really seem to like it. You know me, Albertocanfly! I have weird taste buds!
Tehehe, that’s the truth! But someone has to. :]
