Another sample. The dry leaf smells amazing. Dad asked what I was smelling and put his nose in and said it smelled like watermelon. Personally, I’m not getting that. I think what I’m smelling is gooseberries? It’s definitely a sweet, fruit smell. This ended up cooling off quite a bit because I got distracted when Mom asked for my help. I want this to be more flavorful. I think I would like it if it was stronger but worry that this almost medicine taste I’m also getting would also increase.

drank Blackberry Mojito by Teavana

Accidental sip down. Sitting here with my brother and his girlfriend again. They are working on college stuff and I should be studying for my licensing exam. Sadly, they are listening to country music. I guess that is my cue to put in my headphones and get some work done.
I boiled water and then added 2 ice cubes to both her cup and mine to bring it closer to 175 degrees F. I love the color of this tea. i do like this one iced but didn’t make it that way. I like that I can drink this one without sweetener. The mint is hiding in this steep but it is very tasty. Once I am allowed to order again (goal is to be at least under 30 teas), I may get it again, but maybe after I try the new ones I want to try!

Boiling 2 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

drank Coco Chai Rooibos by David's Tea

Another sample. I put the whole sample in 16 ounces. It looked like over 2 tsp but it came out quite watery. It’s just watered-down spices. I have another sample of this that I plan to try as a latte as I’ve liked chai teas as lattes before.

drank Pu-erh Vanilla Mint by Rishi Tea
268 tasting notes

I think the London Tea Room uses Rishi? Someone told me that, I cannot verify that it is true but I could not find a Vanilla MInt Pu-Erh from The London Tea room in the database so I am going with this one.

I definitely get the mint, which is appreciated. Still looking for the vanilla after a few sips. The addition of sweetener makes this even better. I still can’t really find the vanilla but my palate is not refined in the least bit! I think I am getting a little at the back of the sip. Somehow I am getting cinnamon too? I wish this had more vanilla but it is a tasty cup!

Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

drank Cape Jasmine Oolong by Tea Ave
268 tasting notes

This is from yesterday morning. Wrote it in word to copy and paste to here as our internet was out. We finally called to ask what was going on, and ten minutes after the call ended we have internet.

Finally getting around to some samples. Sadly the cute tasting cups that TeaAve sent with the samples are still packed away somewhere. I’ve also decided that I really need to invest in a Gaiwan! I put the whole sample in my DavidsTea Steeper with 700ml of boiling water for 2 minutes. I love watching the leaves unfurl! The brewed tea smells somewhat floral, must be the Jasmine? I don’t believe I have had the pleasure of trying a jasmine tea yet. This is alright until I swallow, then a strange feeling attacks the back of my throat. I’m thinking that it’s just a strange feeling and taste of the unfamiliar floral tea? After a little over half my cup (the 700ml fits perfect in one mug that my mother insists is for soup!) the attack lessens. This tea feels very “light” in the mouth, if that’s possible. Overall, once the attack on the back of my throat ceased, this became a pleasant cup.

drank Organic Blueberry Jam by DAVIDsTEA

This has been a very slow sipdown. It is my oldest black tea. I am currently sharing this with my brother’s girlfriend and plan to save some for a tea party I am planning with my best friend and her little girl. Still is a pretty yummy tea, it may be a while before I order it again though, I have many others to get through.

Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

I don’t know how long I’ve had this sample. That’s what I get for not logging samples into the spreadsheet, sigh. Latte again this morning as I thought all the spices in here would be to much for me. I think this turned out wonderful. I was worried. I am having to use tea bags as my tea collection isn’t fully unpacked and I don’t know where the rest of my gear is yet. The steeped cup of this with 2tsp of the tea didn’t look all that dark and I was worried the addition of a little over a cup of milk would drown everything out. It turned out quite pleasant! The main flavor I am getting is cinnamon but there is something else hanging out with it that I can’t quite pick out, maybe the cardamom or the pepper? I don’t get any of the pineapple or papaya. Overall, I think this would be great for lattes in the near fall.

drank Dark Chocolate Dream by Teajo Teas
268 tasting notes

Finally settling in after the move. Half of my tea stash has been misplaced though! That’s what I get for having family help pack! Now that I’ve taken my second licensing exam and am waiting for permission to take the next, I can slow down a bit, possibly find the rest of the tea, and enjoy it.
When I drank this a few days ago, the page wouldn’t load. I had it straight then and it was a bit bitter to me (although most black teas are to me, I’m getting better though!). Today I made this as a latte, my go to preparation for this one. It brings the right kind of sweet into the mix . I get less of the chocolate taste this way, especially since I had to use a tea bag today, but it makes for a great morning drink!

Lots of ups and downs in life lately. My company and my dog are all sleeping. Time to have a little help with sleep. I love this tea.

Bio

After almost two years back in my hometown I have embarked on yet another adventure. I have moved, yet again. This time for a new job in a city. I can’t wait to see what is in store for me.

I am happy to have found Steepster. It gave me a hobby that I could devote as much or little time as I could during school and I believe that it will continue to help grow that hobby as I now have more time to explore.

I still consider myself newbie to the world of tea. I am still in the process of trying just about everything but have come across a few favorites. So far the only thing I don’t care for is coconut.

Ratings:

1-49: Never getting again. Couldn’t drink the cup.
50-59: Finished the cup, but won’t get again.
60-79: Buy once in a while.
80-89: Will get more as soon as I run out.
90-100: Must not run out.
