268 Tasting Notes
I’ve had this one mixed with their Strawberry Lemonade Herbal and loved it. Decided I needed to see how it was on its own too.
The dry leaf smells very citrus-y. I think I am getting grapefruit and orange. I absolutely love the color of this as it poured into my cup! It mostly tastes like strawberry with a good hint of citrus, I’m thinking the grapefruit. The addition of a sweetener seems to deepen the flavors, making it an even more enjoyable cup. I really like this in the Winterberry Blend, iced and hot, but I think I like it on it’s own just as much. I know that Teavana gets a bad rap around here but I am finding a few that I really enjoy!
Preparation
A wonderful lazy Saturday. The boyfriend and I went to lunch and I mailed of a TTB. Came back and cleaned up a little, only so I could make a new mess in the kitchen. I made my first attempt of “Vicks Shower Disks” using the recipe found here http://beingfrugalbychoice.com/2012/03/homemade-vicks-vapor-shower-disks.html. And I just threw http://www.alexandracooks.com/2008/05/20/i-love-david-archuleta/ in the oven and thought that this tea would complement them wonderfully.
Sadly this is the last of this wonderful tea. This one always reminds me of home. It is for sure going on the re-order list!
Added sugar to this one again. I find this to be a very tasty morning treat :) I absolutely love mint teas and this one isn’t overpowering so it’s nice to wake up with. It’s also kind of soft, if I can use that word to describe tea, and creamy. It’s like someone is wrapping a blanket around me.
Preparation
I don’t actually have this one. I blended the two teas that is used to create it, the Strawberry Grapefruit Xue Long Green Tea and the Strawberry Lemonade Herbal Tea. I did the same the other day doubled over ice, it was wonderful, but never got around to logging it. Tonight I am trying it hot to see just how much I like these two together.
Very yummy. Very fruity. Very fun. Although, I do have to say I prefer it iced.
I do not often have a white tea in my stash. I don’t really know why that is but I do know that I worry about the temperature as I have yet to find a tea thermometer. I just had to pick this one up during my last visit to The London Tea Room as Peonies are my favorite flower.
I took the kettle off the burner right before it was going to start boiling. I then took off the lid and opened the spout as I prepared my teapot (which is fast becoming my favorite way to steep). I do not know the temperature that it would have ended up at, but I didn’t want it boiling temperature when I poured it over the leaves. It took a whole spoonful of sugar, per cup, for this to be tasty to me. I think it is the astringency that was masking the flavor for me. Overall, it is a beautiful tea. Not a bad way to start my night of relaxing (finally!).
Preparation
Backlog from this morning. Double steeped and over ice as I ran out the door for another busy day. I think I need a little more practice making iced teas, especially as it is already warming up here in Saint Louis! I do think this is a yummy tea, I may have just used more ice than what would have made it great.
This is one of my favorite teas! I went through about an ounce in a week when I first got it. So fruity and tasty!
Sundaysipping – How do you store it? Is this one of the ones that I have to be careful about what kind of tin it is in due to the citrus?
I actually don’t know. I use 12oz mason jars to store my tea — they keep air out beautifully, can be thrown into the dishwasher (which gets any lingering odors out), and I keep them in a cabinet so I’m not worried about light exposure. The Teavana tins do a great job of preventing aroma-leakage, but I found them expensive and extremely difficult to de-scent once I’d used up the tea they were holding.
I guess because it’s a tea with grapefruit it in it could require one of the citrus-friendly Teavana tins.
Thanks :)
Hope it helps! :-)
I tried Winterberry in store yesterday and it was super tasty but intensely sweet. I’m really curious about all the teas they have but I’ve had bad luck with so many (and a few really amazing winners), that it’s really hard to want to pick up 50g in one shot.
If there are ones in my cupboard you are interested in, I could send them your way so you can try them without investing in a whole 50g.
