The last cup before the day comes to close. This was good! The brew still carried a fresh tone and was sweet and smooth. The jasmine was very subtle, which is something new for me. I usually experience a very strong jasmine tone with most jasmine infused silver needle. This was not the case. The bright golden brew was honeysuckle with a slight floral upswing. It was enjoyable and did very well under multiple steeping.

Thank you Jason for including this in my tea box.

This was good. This was very good. I haven’t had a tea session as serene as this one in a awhile. This has a wonderful body and is incredibly smooth. The taste is sweet and lightly floral. It helped create a bright and peaceful atmosphere. Today my tea table seemed very balanced; the colors seemed to flow well with the sunlight. This was good for me.

Thank you Andrew for this wonderful sample!

I asked to receive this solely because it said purple. I am sucker for the unique, regardless of flavor or quality. I opened my package and took a peek at my purple nuggets. My first thought is that purple must be a very loosely used term. These small glossed pebbles are a deep crimson in my eyes. I had just under the amount I usually use in my mini gaiwan for gong fu, but I decided to brew it anyways. I washed them once and allowed them to open up. The aroma was of roasted coffee and smoke. This had a very bold and mudded scent to it. The initial flavor was truly unique. It carried the same bold message but softened it with some fungal tones. The leaves did not fully unfurl until well into multiple steeping. The flavor become more fungal and sweet as the session went on. However, it continued to have a coffee grinds aftertaste each brewing. This was an interesting tea. Would I purchase it? No, I dont think its for me. I really dislike when a company shows something different than what they are actually selling, however good the product may be. I appreciate an honest image, and the image they had up would have me buy this tea in a heartbeat. Its a unique tea, and I could see myself trading other teas for this.

It is a very bold and dark oolong huh? Re-steeping shows the taste buds some mercy though. I found it to be a good experience. Next shall be an aged oolong!

Haveteawilltravel

I agree, it was very durable with steeping. I was able to get 10 maybe 12 steepings (it was such a long session I don’t remember). I enjoyed the flavor quite a bit :)

Thank you Blodeuyn for this surprise tea present!

This is another win from this company! I open this small package and reveal small delicate ebony shards. These little sticks carry a strong roasted dark cacao scent. I imagine WuYi as a granite rocky cliff with silver and black peaks. This mysterious place is shrouded with mist and overcast causing a gray scale effect. I picture wind blowing massive trees clinging to the rocky cliff faces causing them to sway from side to side like a sailboat caught in a storm. I view the WuYi region like this because their teas are a hurricane of a brew. They consist of dark, mineral, roast, cold, and sharp tones. These teas always have a bold brew that is alike the earths crust. The small black twigs I recieved followed suit, except, they gave me a small surprise. This maroon liquor had a decadent dark chocolate palette. This dessert flavor followed me throughout my steeping. I washed these small leaves once and brewed gong fu. I acquired a deep chocolate tone every steep and the background of black grapes creeped up on me. This is a wonderful tea, and I’m so happy to be able to experience it.

The last cup of tea for the day. I decided on something light and smooth. The dry leaves are an assortment of shapes and sizes. You are given multiple large stems, green leaves and petals, all arranged in an eclectic bouquet. The brews flavor is rather odd. I taste an overpowering floral flavor. This reminds me of lighter gynostemma. The herbaceous tone is sweetened and leaves a soothing feeling on the tongue. This is not one of my favorites, but it did the job for tonight.

I’m pretty sure this just cured whatever ailment I may have had! I havent had a sheng session in quite some time, so I decided I should sit down and go for it. This was waaayy better than I last remember it. The flavors were definitely more prominent than before.

I opened the package and revealed an array of colors. The dry leaves ranged from a forest dull green to silver and gold tips. They carried the aroma of sweet pipe tobacco. I brewed this in my yixing pot. I washed them once and then flash steeped the rest of the session. This tea packs a punch! It has a powerful body encompassing qi and has an incredibly menthol bitter taste. This tight sensation did not dissipate for quite some time. I went well into steeping before the smoother flavors appeared. These flavors were of crystallized sugar and sweet stone fruit. The best thing about this brew is the after taste. These small twigs leave a succulent honeysuckle and plum taste in the back of your throat that you can taste long after drinking. These leaves had a greater expansion than last time; they nearly burst out of my pot! I love Teavivre shengs and this is just what my body needed. A powerful brew with an assortment of flavors and expansive depth to explore. I’m very happy to be feeling like myself again!

This was not a favorite of mine. I could tell by the appearance of the buds that this was of a lower quality. These “silver” buds were more of a tarnished grey. I brewed these in my glassware to enjoy its colour. This smooth and iridescent platinum gold always dazzles me with these white teas. The flavor, however, was not that dazzling. It had a dry grass or wheat taste. It carried a mild sweet note in the background. It reminds me of the yellow twine used to bind hay bales together. My friend enjoys this particular tea quite greatly, but I guess this just isnt for me.

drank Wuyi Oolong by Wegmans

I bought this only to season up my roasted oolong yixing. This is a very basic tea. I do not find it horrible, but it doesn’t stand out in anyway. The tea leaves are large but very flaky. They vary from a smoky black to deep crimson. The flavor is somewhat bland. It has a smooth smoke taste with a slight dark fruit tone. The wet leaves have a burnt sugar and slight charcoal scent. I picked this up for a great price, and I will still probably buy this again. This could serve as nice “everyday oolong” if there is such a thing.

I will not get sick, I will not get sick, I will not get sick…. I’ve been repeating this mantra, and I am busting out every remedy I own. This was definitely something my body could use. This is my staple for matcha. I do treat myself to something new every now and again, but I use this for a general bowl. I believe this to be a fantastic matcha, for the price. It is relatively inexpensive and, when whisked right, comes out to a delicious bowl full of goodness. I usually brew usucha with this so it’s easy to get down. The taste is very buttery and full of umami. I use 6 chaksaku scoops for my bowl (its a glass one that is slightly larger than most). This has a slight vegetal tone and wet grass flavor. I rarely experience a bitter taste and it is always smooth. I’ve had a few other matcha that have been incredibly worse. My local tea shop sells “matcha” which is a puke yellow and causes headaches. This is much better and half the price. There is a lot of matcha out there that is amazingly better but its also triple the cash. This will do for now :) I hope to cure this sickness before it even strikes, hahah. The remedy hunt goes on!

chants Don’t get sick! (Hope you don’t!)
Your local shop’s match sounds horrible! I just googled yours, and the price looks great, I might have to check it out once I am through my current tin.

Haveteawilltravel

Its still on the edge hahah, I can feel it coming.
The shops matcha is terrible. Its a low quality culinary grade that they sell to people to drink, I can’t stand it. Few people actually realize what they are drinking and chock it up as “thats what matcha is supposed to taste like.”
You should check this one out though hahah its yummy :D

This is liquid gold! I opened my package and reveled still fresh and downy gold and black buds. These leaves had a strong aroma of spiced honey and black currant. I brewed these aromatic beauties in my french press. The steeped leaves kept the spiced scent and gave up the sweets. My cup gave off the scent of a beautiful orchid. This brew tastes of sweet honey, muscatel, and white grapes. The liquor carries a dominate fruit tone alongside maple syrup. This was a perfect morning brew. I wish I had more of this.

Tea Rating System:
I rate my teas based on the category they fall into (Puer, Red, Oolong, Darjeeing, Flushes, Yancha… etc.)
This means that I will rate a Oolong based on how it stands up as a quality Oolong. I try not to compare teas, rather I work to evaluate them on their craftsmanship, harvest, processing, and qi.

I am most strict with Shou and Sheng Puerh, only because of the vast expanse of various experiences, such as; region, vintage, production, processing, etc.
