768 Tasting Notes
Thanks to amandastory516 for giving me the chance to try this flavor that I missed! The strongest flavor seems to be the earthy lemon. I would have preferred more bergamot, but it does make an interesting flavor combination. I decided to have it without milk because I wanted to make sure I could taste all the delicate floral flavors. I enjoy the black base that’s used here, and though this isn’t one I’d be in a hurry to have again, it actually is pretty fresh-tasting and good. I wish I could have tasted some of the rum flavor though.
I’m pretty sure this is the same as one of Adagio’s old pumpkin black teas. I haven’t had this particular one, but I recognize the flavoring from Adagio’s other pumpkin tea. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m just not into what they’re doing here. Instead of being savory or spicy, it just tastes very sweet and fruity. I agree with another review that mentions it has a bit of a soda taste. It’s not that it tastes bad. It’s just so contrary to my expectations, that I find myself disappointed. Maybe if it were marketed as sweet pumpkin or something, it would be okay.
I really thought I’d tried this tea before, but maybe that was back when I was just lurking on here. Thanks to tea-sipper for giving me the chance to definitely try this! The black base was pretty mild, and the fruitiness came out more and more as it cooled. Without looking, I would have said that the fruit flavor is sort of like lychee? It’s not my favorite, but I think it did a solid job and was somewhat original.
Nice balance of spices, though I wish the pancake aspect were amped way up. I’d really just call it a gingerbread tea. Good with and without milk. It’s quite nice, but I would have loved some more bready/cakiness in the base. In my large mug of this, I only really tasted a maple/pancake note once. But it is distinctly gingerbread rather than just ginger or chai, so that aspect was done well.
I ordered this tea because the list of ingredients sounded unique. Unfortunately, during my first cup with only sugar added, I really, really didn’t like it. It’s an unpleasant flavor, and it’s so strong. The pineapple is super acidic and the chilli is harsh and not great in tea. Those are the only two flavors, and they’re way too much. With milk, it tastes fine, but then it’s basically just spicy milk with a bit of pineapple. So it’s perfectly fine to drink like that, but it feels like it could be accomplished another, better way. I was considering getting rid of it, but since it’s fine with milk added, I guess I’ll keep it, but certainly not repurchase.
This is one of those teas that you have to have cold. Even then, though, it’s quite tart and cidery. I can’t tell that it’s pomegranate clearly either. I really didn’t like my first two cups of this, but I found my third one tolerable. I’m now using this up by brewing large pitchers of it since I’ve finished all my rooibos that I was using for that purpose. Brewing such a large amount and having it sit for days seems to tame it a bit. Really couldn’t recommend though. Just tart and not that interesting.
This one is light and a little floral. At first, it’s a bit soapy/cleanerish, but you sort of get used to it. After 3-4 mugs of it, I’ve unfortunately grown tired of this one. The main flavor is peach. The peach flavor is similar to other peach teas, so I’d probably just choose an herbal version of this. That weird extra flavor just got to be too much for me. Also I think this isn’t even supposed to taste like peach.
FYI-pitaya or pitahaya is in the cactus family. If it’s from Asia and it’s the genus Hylocereus, then it’s called ‘dragon fruit.’ Either way, pitaya has a taste like earthy watermelon, not peaches, so you were correct in your surmise.
I was really looking forward to trying this tea I got from amandastory516, but unfortunately there’s a weird flavor in here that I can’t get over. The spices are too mild. I don’t really notice a clear pumpkin flavor. The main thing I taste is the weird flavor I can’t place.
That’s okay! I noticed another review mentioning the chicory too. I’ve had so many teas with that as an ingredient, but I actually don’t know what it tastes like! But that’s probably what I’m tasting also.
