318 Tasting Notes
Resuming notes from the Pu TTB!
Light and green with notes of sugarcane, tobacco, corn, and a slight smokey gasoline note. Later steeps get thick and sweet, slightly spicy and herbaceous. This tea was very comparable to Menghai Dayi cakes and Yunnan Sourcing’s Impressions cake; solid, quality tea for daily drinking. Comparably I’d say a 7542 is the most bitter/powerful, YS Imprressions most flavorful, while the MC&A had the best body/thickness.
Flavors: Green, Sugarcane, Tobacco
Preparation
Nice gold-orange liquer. Bitter with tobacco, piney, and apricot notes, camphor and sugarcane. I enjoy this one a lot and may have to pick up a cake! I could use some more aged/semi aged sheng in my collection and this is a pretty nice one
Flavors: Apricot, Camphor, Pine, Sugarcane, Tobacco
Preparation
i notice people taste tobacco a lot. i don’t taste that… is this a raw (sheng) puerh? if so do you think it could really be campfire smoke? or bbq smoke?
This is sheng
The tobacco taste isn’t really smoke, more like smelling pipe tobacco or a case of cigars
The early steeps are thick and sweet with a strong honeyed flavor. Mineral and mossy notes with a floral touch that reminds me of lavender. Very nice and clean. Good infusability and strong, energizing qi feelings
Flavors: Lavender, Mineral, Moss, Sugarcane, Vanilla
Preparation
I didn’t write any notes while drinking this one, but this has got to have the strongest fruit taste of any sheng I’ve tried! To me the flavor like a mix of apricot, guava paste, and grape juice with some general floral, mineral and “sheng-y” notes. I don’t know how it would age, but it’s super mellow and enjoyable now
Flavors: Almond, Floral, Fruity, Mineral

Very mellow, thick, and sweet. The early infusions have notes of mushroom, minerals, herbs, and green wood and a slight floral touch. A well balanced tea with a strong qi that became apparent by the third steep. Great mouthfeel as well
Later infusions taste very warm and clean with a nutmeg note and nice creamyness. Under the influence I noted that it tasted like “drinking liquid candle light”
A super nice young sheng; I don’t know how it could be much better. I experienced some sticker shock upon seeing the price, but I do think this is the best young sheng I’ve had
Flavors: Green Wood, Herbaceous, Mineral, Mushrooms, Nutmeg

Another shop where my wallet pulls me past whenever I look at it – mostly due to me wanting to try some authentic Bei Dou Yi Hao.
I agree. I have had some of their other stuff. Pretty good. The exchange rate is killer to your wallet though.
A nice sheng with a fair amount of bitterness. Apricot, tobacco, and mint notes with a strong mouthwatering effect and qi
Flavors: Apricot, Mint, Tobacco
Preparation
From the Pu TTB
This was a nice and very mild sheng. Pretty nice thick mouthfeel in the early steeps. White grape, fresh camphor, grainy, and peppery notes. Starts to thin out pretty early in the later steeps. Despite what I think about Verdant’s marketing I’m yet to have anything that wasn’t good from them.
Flavors: Camphor, Grain, Pepper, Peppercorn, White Grapes
Oh my, gasoline!
Hehe, I don’t know how else to describe it, but there’s a flavor in some young sheng that reminds me of the gas station!
