This one is pretty disappointing. I expected some bitterness and Bulang punch, but all I got was some grass and corn with a little sweetness.

I have to admit, I’ve had this tea about three times now, and for the first two I wasn’t impressed. It was somewhat bland, and got bitter when pushed.

This time, however, it’s turning out much better! Brews an attractive amber color. Honey, apricot, date, mint, and mulling spice notes with a slight floral background. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, matching it’s sweet taste.

Flavors: Apricot, Cinnamon, Clove, Dates, Mint

Brews up a medium yellow, mildly bitter and astringent. This tea has flavors of green beans, whiskey, petrichor, herbs, and a fruity bitterness like white grape skins. Nice lingering sweetness and aroma in the mouth. The mouthfeel is a little bit thin, but overall it’s pretty nice and a bargain at it’s current price.

A smooth and mellow shou with little fermentation flavor. Woody with a slight almond note and what I would describe as doughy or yeasty taste. Not terribly complex, but a solid/unoffensive daily drinker at a bargain price.

Brews a dark yellow-orange. It’s hard to believe that 2009 is now seven years ago! This tea has aged fairly gracefully in that time. Theres a strong citrus note accompanied by light acidity, some camphor and mint, and a smooth round flavor and mouthfeel like wild mushrooms. Light bitterness and even lighter astringency. Overall its a fairly nice tea, but a bit thin and one dimensional. If I had a cake I don’t know how often I’d be drinking it.

The dry leaves are a medium long and yellow-green. It’s a very clean and sweet and mineral brew. Notes of green bean, chestnut, and sugarcane with a slightly floral finish. As the leaves open up they become bright green and reveal nice budsets. A nice and refreshing green, mao fengs are my favorite.

The dry leaves are big, attractive silver needle buds. The aroma is oceanic, pine, and just slightly floral.

The first brew is very mellow and soft. Slight honey and pine notes with a floral background. Slightly earthy and dank like wet leaves and rich soil. This is a very mild tea, I attempted to overbrew it and bring out bitterness and found that I could not.

A nice a floral medium-light roasted oolong. The orchid note is predominant, but theres also a butteryness like shortbread cookies and a fruity note of peach. Sweetness is moderate but not overpowering.

Small, wiry, dark green leaves. Primarily vegetal with spinach and green bean notes, but also nutty and roasty with a peach-like fruit sweetness. Not my favorite green tea from Teavivre, but nice nonetheless. I think this would be a good tea to drink with a meal.

From the Pu TTB

A delicate sheng that’s reminiscent of a good green tea. Somewhat vegetal/umami with notes of green wood, honey, and fresh tobacco. Very infusable, very attractive whole leaves. Later steeps have a mango fruityness alongside sugarcane and vegetal notes. Lacking in the punch that I expect from young sheng. Almost definitely a “drink now” puerh.

Overall a very friendly sheng that would serve as a good introduction for someone looking for low bitterness or coming from green teas.

Tea addict since around 2011.

My favorites are pu’erhs, blacks/reds, and roasted oolongs, but I have a growing interest in good whites, and sometimes enjoy greens.

Currently trying to get an education, working a part time job, expand my ceramics/pottery skills, and trying to make the best of existential crisis.
