1184 Tasting Notes
Backlogging from Wednesday
I made this the suggested DT’s iced method.
As much as I really enjoy berry teas, this one seemed a little bit off to me. I think the acai berry powder maybe gave it a funny taste, kinda like I could taste the powder…..or maybe it was in my head….I don’t know, I am probably just crazy!
Anyway, there was something about this tea that was a bit off for me. I did like the juniper berry taste though.
Preparation
I cold brewed this for 5-6 hours. I thought this was really good, maybe a little bit tart, but that was ok.
Nice and light strawberry taste with a delicate white background. The strawberry was maybe a little too light. I can see how this might become overly tart from the hibiscus if not brewed properly.
Not sure if I would buy this again, just because I have so many other whites that I enjoy so much better.
I iced this. I really like the blood orange taste, but some of the earthiness of the pu’erh creeps through too much. I am also getting a slight “bite” at the end of the sip when its iced. Not my fav for sure, but it is ok. If I could get rid of that bitterness, this would probably be really good.
Preparation
I was really looking forward to this blend. I love berry tea! Coming from Saskatchewan, I really like Saskatoons. And berries and oolong together….how can you go wrong!!??
Smells very Saskatoon berry!
This blend is actually very good. I am certainly getting more cranberry taste than Saskatoon. I also like cranberries, so for me, this is all good. The maple syrup adds a subtle sweetness that makes this nice and fulfilling. The oolong taste is in the background. Too bad there is artificial flavouring, but overall, I really like this blend.
Edit: resteep 6minutes, boiling, just as good as the first!
Preparation
I finished this one off last night. So delicious and chocolate with just that tiny tad of macademia nuttiness. Even though I try not to have additions in tea, a tiny splash of milk in this tea enhances the flavour like crazy! This has been my weekend treat!
On the weekends, I allow myself a good chocolate tea either with a splash of milk or as a latte. Some of my favs are this one, fireside s’mores (teaopia), or read my lips (David’s).
I have been trying different steeping parameters with my favourite earl greys and have found that steeping at 4 minutes or less really cuts the bitterness.
Then I remembered that I had some of this tea left and thought hey I should give this another try. Boy, now this tea is just a delight. Slightly sweet and not so much creamy as a smooth quality I found. I really like vanilla.
So watch out, this tea can be very bitter. But if you steep properly, you are in for a treat.
Significantly increasing this rating!
Preparation
My first tea party day!! My friend who grew up in England and I had a picnic in the park and lots of tea throughout the afternoon. She brought some tea back to Canada from Turkey. We had 4 different teas today I think!
So on to the tea….I cold brewed this to have as an iced tea. This is not my favourite. It has a weird artificial taste. The aftertaste cold is slightly tropical, but only ok. Decreasing the rating a little.
After seeing a few people posting about tea parties, I just had to do it! And really, my British friend certainly knows about tea parties. We even had cucumber sandwiches!
Sounds like so juch fun! Sadly, most of my friends don’t care much about tea, so I don’t see myself throwing a tea party… but I would love to, so I must continue trying to convert them to this addiction of mine!
Thankyou to Angel and Teavivre for this sample
I was a little scared to try this tea, it smells very smoky. And the brew is golden amber.
The taste is suprisingly good. But really, not much from Teavivre suprises me anymore….everything is so good! I was expecting more of a burnt taste, but it is much sweeter than I thought it would be, and more delicate. I am not sure I would drink this everyday, but I think I could get used to this. I think it would be great to use in cooking.
No resteeps today, I got too busy and then it was too late in the day to drink more black tea.
Preparation
My in-laws brought this back from England for me because they know how much I love tea! It came in a package with 2 other teas in cute little English tins.
This doesn’t specifically say what kind of tea that it is, just Sri Lanka. I am assuming it is Assam because of the little pellets. And the smell. It has a strong, bold, malty flavour. It is strong, which is expected with English tea, so I figured it needed a dash of milk like the English drink it. Wow, what a difference, this tea is now transformed into a smooth, malty, and bold tea….right up my alley for a good start to the day!
Preparation
For a bagged tea, this is really good. Not as fresh as loose leaf, but it still tastes great. I am getting an unsweetened dark chocolate note on first sip, and then a light hazelnut flavour starts popping through. I really like dark chocolate, so this is great for me.
This is great as a morning dessert tea. I don’t usually like to have to add things to my tea, but with a splash of milk, the flavours pop even more.
Preparation
I love Hazelnut and Chocolate. I have to try this one, although I have a very bad experience with tea forté. I don’t trust them because anyone who packs a delicate sencha and white tea next to mint flavored tea, next to citrus scented tea next to vanilla tea… needs to get a refresher course on tea. But that was a sample gift box so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

(Crazy) we were going to send you a note but since you brought it up …..well….there is a tea remedy for it I’m sure.
It does taste like a “healthy” berry juice to me. So not my fave, especially since Blueberry Jam exists!
Lol must remedy that craziness with more tea…..mwahhhahaha…going to solve that right now Bonnie!
I agree Kittenna, blueberry jam is way better. I really like that one!
