drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas
1184 tasting notes

Many thanks to Emilie for this generous sample!

First of all, I have no idea what zabaglione is supposed to taste like, but if it tasted like this tea, it would be delicious.

The strawberries are nice and fresh, and I am getting kinda a burnt creamy taste to this. The black base is there for sure. I am getting a little bit of bitterness in this one though. The bitterness is bearable because of the sweetness of the berries and creamy taste, but I would rather it not be bitter.

I have some more sample to play with, so I will try a shorter steep or cooler water next time.

I just ordered this! I am really excited to try it!

ashmanra

LOL! And it just got here! That is pretty fast shipping.

Enjoy its one of my favorites! :)

How does everyone else usually steep this? Is 2.5 minutes good? I will have to try steeping again because 3 made a bitter steep

I think one of the other recommendations is using water that’s below boiling. I have only tried this particular tea once, and can’t recall what I did, or whether it worked well (but my note should be there!)

drank Strawberry Cream by Teaopia
1184 tasting notes

Thanks to tattooed_tea for sending me more of this

I tried this as a cold brew. The rooibos was way too strong here and masks the strawberry flavour. I guess if you are going for a really earthy tea, this would be ok, but that just isn’t what I was looking for from this. From now on, I will stick to a hot brew because it is delicious that way!

Leaving the rating the same though.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by 52teas

Thanks to Amanda for this sample!

This smells delicous. I love coconut

This tea is nice and smooth coconut with some vanilla cream shining through. The black base is there, but not overpowering. I am not really getting any pie crust taste, but that is ok, because the filling is so great!

I would definitely re-buy this. Oh man, how did I get hooked to 52teas so easily??!

Doesn’t take long, does it?

It is a sperll (or curse) that once you try it, you love it, and you are hooked!

Ya I already wanna make another order but my tea cupboard is more than overflowing!

Thank you Emilie for this very generous sample!

The smell in the bag is really strong cinnamon.

Once brewed, the cinnamon is a little more tame. And then BAM, a wonderful baked goods smell wafts into my nose. Tasting now….this is pretty strong cinnamon, kinda lingering in my mouth a little. The baked taste comes through as a cinnamon roll with butter.

This is a delicious bedtime treat!

I also got this in my grab bag, so I will have lots to enjoy. Cold brew is next for this one!

drank Lady Grey by Twinings

This was a pretty good light earl grey. I think that the lemon and orange were a little too strong though, overwhelming the bergamont a little.

As far as earl greys go, I like them a little stronger than this.

It might make a good iced tea though.

It is pretty good for a bagged tea, easier to cart around and steep compared to loose leaf.

I needed a jasmine fix, and I really wanted to see how this compares to the Teavivre jasmine silver needle. I only drank this tonight though, no comparison.

Not much different than the first note I wrote on this tea, smooth, slightly sweet, slightly grassy, not overpowering. Man…..I love white tea!

Next time, I will be comparing this to Teavivre’s version.

drank Kitchen Sink Green Tea by 52teas
1184 tasting notes

Hmmmm, this tea smells buttery and fruity. I cold brewed it for 6 hours. This is really weird, I might have gotten a teaspoon without any fruit flavour because I am just getting a bitter, and kinda tasteless mess. I will definitely have to try this again, maybe shake up the bag a little.

Not rating at this time, because I am sure this is just my user error.

drank Pancake Breakfast by 52teas
1184 tasting notes

Thank you Amanda for this sample!!

This tea smells amazing. I am definitely getting the maple syrup smell. I was so eager to try this, that it was WAY too hot on my first sip…. waiting….waiting…ok here we go….YUMMY! This tea is sweet on its own with definite maple syrup goodness. I am not getting pancakes exactly, but it is for sure a bake-y taste.

I am glad that I still have one more cup of this because I tried this when I was a little rushed, so I would like to sit down and enjoy this tea next time.

drank Read My Lips by DAVIDsTEA
1184 tasting notes

I haven’t had this since December….WHAT?? And somehow I still have my tin from the advent calendar….lol, how did that happen?

This is my weekend chocolate treat black tea with a splash of milk. I had a crazy night shift last night, so I deserve this today before I go to work again.

Anyway, about the tea. With the tiny splash of milk, the flavours really meld together well and the chocolate is nice and smooth. Man, I like this tea. 1 more cup in my tiny tin, I will have to stock up.

Edit: I cooled a cup of this tea alteady brewed (without milk) in the fridge for a few hours and it was delicious.

I just tried milk in my Read My Lips this morning and it really does go well together :D

drank Sweet Merlot Black Tea by 52teas
1184 tasting notes

This is my first tasting of my grab bags!

Dry leaf smells like wine but not very sweet.

Hot: no astringency, strong grape flavour.

Iced: this is where it shines! The grape comes out a little stronger with some dryness that might be associated with wine (it almost makes your mouth pucker, but not in a bad way). I also seem to be getting a tad of current flavour, but maybe that is just me. I wouldn’t have associated this tea with wine if it wasn’t called that, but I think it is a great tea nonetheless.

Profile

Bio

Hello,
I am a nurse. I have numerous hobbies: reading, crocheting, crafting, card making, scrapbooking, photography, shopping, and of course drinking TEA!

I started drinking loose leaf tea in Dec. 2010 when I went into a DavidsTea for the first time and have been hooked ever since! My favourite is probably white tea, but I also love black and oolong. I also like a nice relaxing rooibos or herbal in the evening. On Sundays, I like to treat myself and make a tea latte.

My favourite flavours are nutty, vanilla, chocolate, jasmine, tropical, fruity, earl grey.
My dislikes are lavender, rose, hibiscus, banana, and straight green or overly vegetal teas.

I am admittedly fairly generous in my rating scale. Most of my teas I rate at 90 and above, and would re-stock these teas.
Anything under 90 I probably wouldn’t re-stock unless I found a great price.
