drank Pomegranate Roeship by Bulk Barn
1184 tasting notes

I was worried that this was going to be quite tart because of the rosehip. I was wrong because it is quite sweet and the pomegranate taste really comes through.
I wouldn’t drink this everyday, but if I want a fruity black it would do the trick.
This would work well as an iced tea as well I think.

drank Assam by Bulk Barn
1184 tasting notes

This is the first assam that I have had. I enjoyed this, but it is very hard to describe. I guess the only way to describe it is malty flavour.
I have no other assam to compare it to, but I am sure it is not top quality. However, I do enjoy the flavour.
This is quite good, and like all the other Bulk Barn purchases, very inexpensive for the quality you get.

Not familiar with Bulk Barn — chain store? mall store?

tigress_al

I think it is a chain store. It is a store that has everything in bulk in bins and then you take the amount that you want from each bin. They mostly sell candies, spices, dry goods, stuff like that.

Bulk tea is a good Cheapster Steepster way to experiment! Not too many bulk options in our neck of the woods, but local health food place has by-the-ounce jars of a dozen or so varieties.

drank Buttercream by DAVIDsTEA
1184 tasting notes

I am so sad that I didn’t get more of this tea. I have really grown to like it.
So smooth, sweet, and calming.
The second steeping is just as good as the first.
So nice for a cold winters day here in Canada.
I will miss you buttercream when you are gone :(

I have some Buttercream (maybe 15-20g?) I am not a huge fan of – would you like to swap?

tigress_al

YES!!! I pm’d you!

I also cold brewed this overnight 1.5teaspoons.
This was sweet and refreshing.
I added a little sugar at the end, but I don’t think that it needed it.
This will make a nice spring/summer treat

Preparation
Iced

Is this a creamy peach? If not have you had it with milk?

tigress_al

I have only had it cold brewed so far, it wasn’t really creamy, but it was smooth. I will have to try it hot with some milk now that you mentioned it! Thanks

This is slightly sweet, slightly tart.
I cold brewed this overnight using 1.5teaspoon
I added a little sugar at the end, and liked it a little better but I prefer to not have to add anything to my teas.
Certainly a yummy fruit taste.

Preparation
Iced

drank Organic Cold 911 by DAVIDsTEA

I have to up this rating because I woke up this morning with a sore throat. And this tea really does soothe a sore throat. I guess I will be drinking lots of this today.
And I love mint
2nd steep: boiling, maybe 8min. Still soothing
I will be keeping this one stocked in my cupboard in all the winter months
Wow!!! That was my 101 tasting note!!! It doesn’t take long to get to 100!

Happy hundred to you. (Steepster is addictive, yes?)

tigress_al

lol, super addicting powers Steepster has!

Bonnie

You need to get rid of that cold by drinking some of that southern sweet tea vodka I saw reviewed here on Steepster!

drank Orange Oolong by Bulk Barn
1184 tasting notes

The was slightly sweet with a hint of citrus. I don’t like too strong citrus, so just a hint of it was fine with me.
The oolong is not the best quality out there, but it is still smooth and buttery.
I am fairly happy with this one for such a great price….I got 25g for 72cents!
2nd steep: 95degrees, 7min, less buttery, more citrus, still fairly decent.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 4 min, 0 sec

Oooh, I’m going to have to peek and see if my local Bulk Barn has this one!

Daisy Chubb

Yeah this one was my fave bulk barn find!

This was sweet and fruity enough, tasted vaguely of pear but it had a very strange aftertaste following each sip.
I think I would like it, but I can’t get around that weird taste.
2nd steep: much the same, that weird taste didn’t go away

Preparation

Prickly pear tea? Very interesting! What kind of weird taste did you get?

This tastes like dark chocolate. Not too sweet but still very yummy.
It gave me quite the energy boost as well.
I will definitely buy this again.
It tastes a little similar to DT’s chocolate rocket.

This is good chocolate, coconut.
This is sweet and smooth, a good dessert tea, and satisfying.

2nd steep: 10 min, milder in taste but possibly even better tasting!

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec

Bio

Hello,
I am a nurse. I have numerous hobbies: reading, crocheting, crafting, card making, scrapbooking, photography, shopping, and of course drinking TEA!

I started drinking loose leaf tea in Dec. 2010 when I went into a DavidsTea for the first time and have been hooked ever since! My favourite is probably white tea, but I also love black and oolong. I also like a nice relaxing rooibos or herbal in the evening. On Sundays, I like to treat myself and make a tea latte.

My favourite flavours are nutty, vanilla, chocolate, jasmine, tropical, fruity, earl grey.
My dislikes are lavender, rose, hibiscus, banana, and straight green or overly vegetal teas.

I am admittedly fairly generous in my rating scale. Most of my teas I rate at 90 and above, and would re-stock these teas.
Anything under 90 I probably wouldn’t re-stock unless I found a great price.
