drank Peach Melba by Lupicia
296 tasting notes

Another tea sachet sample from Ost! I made a haiku of this tea while I drank it, do you want to hear it? It goes:

No no no no no
Rooibos is not good at all
Where Da peach at, yo?

I hope this wasn’t overstepped. I brewed this for 4 minutes in boiling water. It came out to be a thick, syrupy cherry wood mess. I had to think hard about the peach to taste it. I though there was some cinnamon as well, maybe something that could have been pastry-esque, but I think I’m just grasping at straws now. Meh. Totes not my style.

Flavors: Peach, Wood

Haha Love the haiku!

I know-this one was so disappointing! If I knew it was that bad before I wouldn’t have bothered sending it to you D:

This is one of the best Hojichas I have ever had. It’s not pedestrian stuff, it took me two different times to get used to it. It’s slightly smoky, slightly sweet as it cools and roasted and toasty to it’s core. I highly recommend cooking with it! I made some bomb pork chops with it.
I had some the other night with my man, and he likened it to ‘you know, schwag weed.’ which may be completely accurate.

Thanks so much scribbles for this sample in our last swap! I like Ceylon tea, and this is a great blend. Through the tea pyramid you can still get a great sense of honey, malt and citrus. I highly recommend following the directions exactly.

Nice, easy and yummy! This is a simple flavored tea, and I like how easy it is to brew! I usually use like 6-ish pearls tossed in a pint glass at work. Everyone thinks I’m crazy, but daymn it is good! The lychee note is spot on, not artificial to me at all. The black tea takes a back seat, but it does compliment the lychee really well. Like chocolate covered lychees, yasss!

Random teabag in purse time!

I drank this while stuck at work and frustrated as hell. I needed something soothing to help me chill out, and this was my crutch to lean on. While not the pinnacle of refinement, I haven’t had a jasmine in such a long, long time. Tasted exactly like a jasmine green tea should. Nothing special or memorable. Just… there.

Mmmm, mandala to go!

I love how smooth this is. I have been so lazy with my teas at work lately, grandpa style everything. This one is just made for it!

Stephanie

this is a great one :)

Mmmm. I have a cake of this on my to-buy list. It will be my first ripe puer cake. I have a few raw ones, but no ripe yet!

Okay, quick note about the Butiki Sponsored Herbal Mixing Box.

As I was parceling out a couple herbs to try, I was curious about the Honeysuckle Flowers. they looked like the herbal version of Dian Hong. Boy, was I ever wrong.

This is the singular most disgusting thing i have ever had the misfortune of putting in my teapot. I might as well have been sucking on a piece of dusty old leather. the lingering taste of dried shiitake mushrooms and mold on my tongue made me gag. I wasn’t sure if the copper penny note was the tea or blood in my mouth.

It’s supposedly meant to help miraculously with the flu, digestive inflictions, and other viral infections. I’m sorry, but constipation sounds like more fun than drinking a cup of this tea.

Butiki Teas

Hahaha. Sorry for your suffering. :D

Lol! That was the best note ever!

drank Golden Honey Dew by Lupicia

Another sample from Ost!

This is literally melon crack. one sniff and i was hooked. i seriously just need to order this already. i love honeydew flavored anything. Seriously, when i quit smoking, i used a low-nicotine vape pen. my first flavor? Honeydew. thankfully, i’m off the nicotine and on to something far less dangerous but just as addicting; this tea.

Love this one!

So good!

Zack S.

So far this is the best melon tea I’ve had! Any other recommendations for Honeydew teas?

TheLastDodo

I’m hard-pressed to find another tea quite like this. Lupicia makes a melon oolong, which is also spot on! I’ve been curious about Bird Pick’s Honeydew Sencha for awhile..

drank Cotton Candy by DAVIDsTEA
296 tasting notes

Finally! a decent cup. thanks again Ost for sending this my way. hopefully my David’s tea order will arrive at the correct address soon so I can return the swap!

i had this while taking a nice, hot bubbly bath tonight. ahhh, a cup of candy and a bath bomb, just what the doctor ordered!

The rooibos isn’t as rooibos-y in this tea as some other dessert herbals I have had. i do get some of that honey/woodsy wierdness that comes from those little red sticks, but it was a quick, painless topnote. what i do get is sweet, sweet candy. there is a slight fruitness that reminds me of fruity pebbles, and a touch of cream notes in the body that makes me forget what cotton candy is supposed to taste like. but it is a fun cup of simple sweetness. nothing i would ever purchase for myself, but a good tea to mark off the ‘tea bucketlist.’

Flavors: Cotton Candy, Creamy

Roswell Strange

I wonder if this one was less rooibos-y to you because of the green rooibos mixed in it?

TheLastDodo

Maybe? I think I liked it because it was as tooth-achingly sweet, like eating an entire jar of frosting…

chugging my way through this! i can clearly see the bottom of the foil bag. for some reason, getting close to a sipdown is justy as exciting as actually finishing a tea :P

That is so true!

Bio

I dream in tea.

My name is Maddi. I like to take boiling hot showers and meditate in my closet. I think and talk about tea so much that it has become a punchline of sorts with my family and coworkers. Besides my unhealthy obsession with the drink that gives me life, I do yoga frequently, I make green smoothies out of any vegetables and fruit in the nearest vicinity, I am obsessed with Korean Dramas, I run as a form of moving meditation, and play video games with my easygoing and forgiving boyfriend. I used to cook for a living, and I almost always eat at least one waffle a day.

Favorite types of teas:
Aged Oolongs hold my heart. Sneaking their way in are Korean Greens. Roasted oolongs and I are not on speaking terms as of late. Black teas of all types, but especially Fujian and some Yunnan are nice indulgences more often than not. I know and love Japanese greens more than any kind, while Chinese greens bore me. Certain White teas thrill me, but most have me changing the channel. I love using my Yerba Mate gourd, we have become steadfast amigos. Puerh and I are still getting to know each other, and while sheng is playing hard to get, shou is there to hold my hand when no one is looking. I sometimes make my own functional herbal blends, and if there is a hell, it is filled with Rooibos. Above all else, direct – trade tea is my favorite.

First you heat the water.
