681 Tasting Notes
I drank this one again this morning, and this time I added the merest suggestion of pure cane sugar to it. That seemed to help bring out the ice cream notes a little more, and it complemented the pistachio nicely, too. As usual, the tea has a nice, creamy feeling to it without needing any milk or creamer of any kind.
The base of this one is a lot stronger than the other two samples from Butiki that I’ve tried. It still tastes wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoyed this cup, but I definitely have an easier time detecting the “tea” part of this brew.
Tried this one again, and gave it much less steep time. I think I only steeped it for about a minute thirty.
MUCH, MUCH BETTER! The flavor is so mild and citrusy, and the black tea base is so light that you almost can’t taste it. The lemon, bergamot, and orange are perfectly balanced this time around. THIS is the Twinings I know and love.
So yeah. Definitely drink this tea. Just don’t over-steep it. In fact, the SECOND the water turns amber-brown, take that teabag right out. I wouldn’t exceed two minutes.
I made a pot of this tea and let it cool, then refrigerated it.
I like it SO MUCH BETTER cold! It really allows the chocolate to come out, and in fact has totally changed my opinion of this tea altogether. It tastes so much richer… I feel like I’m having dessert!
DRINK THIS STUFF COLD. You won’t regret it!
Interesting, mixed experience with this one. I plan to try it again, and maybe give it less steep time. This is generally why I stay away from Earl Grey blends; a few seconds more or less of steep time makes or breaks the whole cup. But I wanted to give this one a go, because I’ve been looking for a good decaf black blend, and I usually have a good experience with Twinings.
To be totally frank, the first few sips tasted like cleaning chemicals to me. I was eating leftover Chinese food, which had quite a bit of garlic in it at the same time though, so I decided to wait until I had finished eating before passing judgment on the tea.
It did get better after I let it cool. The black tea base is very light, as promised on the box. I feel like having bergamot AND orange in the same blend is a nice idea in theory, but in practice can be a bit overwhelming.
Verdict: I ended up liking this tea for the feeling that it left me with, more than for the experience of actually drinking it. I’m going to give it another go, but for now:
I’d recommend ditching the tea bag sooner rather than later when making a cup of this tea.
As soon as I received a sample of this tea, I knew I was in the presence of tea royalty. It looked beautiful and inviting, just sitting there in its little plastic bag, waiting to be scooped into my infuser.
I wasn’t disappointed when I brewed it. The light, pleasant scent of cantaloupe filled my nostrils, and when I took my first sip, I was in heaven!
I don’t know how they did it, but Butiki has actually blended a tea that melts in your mouth! I added nothing to this tea, but its mouthfeel had a heavy, creamy quality to it. And it tasted just like cantaloupe. I couldn’t taste the base tea at all.
I was legitimately sad to finish this cup. Good on you, Butiki!
Everything about this tea is so beautiful! The dry leaves are gorgeous, it smells fantastic, and once it’s steeped, the taste is unbelievable.
It really does leave a bubbly feeling on your tongue! The rose is what I taste the most, and it lingers very pleasantly after each sip. I’m really glad I got to try this flavor! It was a total delight.
I loved this tea as well,and am always bugging stacy to make more florals. There are never enough out there as far as I’m concerned.
So true! I’d be especially thrilled to try more floral blends from Butiki as well.
Try the rose violet calendula. It changed my life!

These blooming teas are just an absolute delight to the senses. They smell beautiful, they look beautiful as they open, and the taste is simply wonderful- floral, and very rich and satisfying. The tea is also delicious cold, if you don’t feel like consuming the whole pot of it in one sitting.
Making a pot of this tea is a sure way to win new friends and strengthen previous friendships! It’s an experience worth having. A beautiful invention!
This is a delightful tea! The smell is heavenly- the rose, candied violet, and cinnamon are the strongest components that I can taste. The black tea base works really well with the nutty, earthy almond flavor. It’s just a total delight of the senses.
It also makes the whole room smell beautiful when it’s steeping. I’m so sad that they’re discontinuing this flavor!
