2145 Tasting Notes
Thanks go out to scribbles for this sample, I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time now.
First off, I was impressed with how many whole blueberries were in this tea. Normally you see a few added for color, but I’m pretty sure that over 1/3 of the package was blueberries. Because of this the blueberry really stands out in this tea, just the way I hoped it would. Most blueberry teas disappoint me because of the lack of blueberry flavor, absolutely not the case with this one. You can still taste the black base a little and there is a nice sweet and tart flavor from the blueberries.
When I drank this hot I wished it was a little sweeter, it was a bit on the tart side still.
Drinking this tea cold is another matter entirely because some of the tartness disappears. Add sugar to it and it really does start to taste like blueberry jam.
Preparation
I’m not getting a lot of the flavors from this tea, it actually reminds me a lot of Mellow Mango Peach also from Della Terra, it isn’t quite as sweet though. Mostly I can taste the tea base, mango and a hint of the passionfruit. The pineapple and kiwi just don’t come through for me. I tried this hot and it was good, but it really is much better cold.
Preparation
This has been on my shopping list for awhile, but I haven’t managed to order from DAVIDsTEA yet. Thanks to scribbles for including this in our swap.
I actually wish I had been able to continue drinking this one, but I had to dump it out. Not because I thought it was bad, I actually rather enjoyed it, but it gave me one of the worst migraines I’ve ever had. I do have a sensitivity to certain flavorings and whatever was used in this one just set me off. It’s going to be hard to trade this one away.
The scent and smell of this tea is just overwhelmingly buttery and it stays with you for a long time after you’re finished. This really wasn’t what I was expecting from this tea, I wish it had a little more of a rum flavor but it was still yummy. It reminded me of hot buttered popcorn and I could definitely see myself sneaking this one into the movie theater. Am I the only one who does that?
Preparation
Another tea from my swap with scribbles, she’s been very generous.
I’m usually pretty hard on teas with citrus in them and even harder on teas with sage in them. This was a pleasant surprise, while it isn’t going to be a favorite of mine, it is the first tea with sage that I haven’t hated on site. This is probably because the sage doesn’t completely dominate and instead there is a strong citrus flavor as well as a hint of lavender. I’ll admit, I did raise my eyebrows a bit at this combination, but it actually works well together. I had this sweetened and over ice rather than hot and I think it works well as an iced tea.
Preparation
I want to thank scribbles for including this in our swap, I’ve been dying to try a carrot cake tea. I’m not going to give this one a rating until I make another cup, but my first cup didn’t remind me of carrot cake in the slightest. This has a nice mellow black base to it and only a hint of cinnamon. I think it needs a little more depth before it resembles carrot cake. Not a bad cup of tea, it just isn’t living up to its name.
Preparation
Scribbles sent this one to me this week as part of our swap. Thanks! I’ve never had a tea with nuts in it before so I was intrigued by this one, it looked a little like the trail mix I just bought at Whole Foods.
I wasn’t expecting this tea to be pink once steeped, so that was a bit of a surprise. I was worried that it might be from hibiscus (I wasn’t really looking closely when I scooped my tea in the pot), but it must be from the beetroot in the mix. I was expecting this to have more of a nutty flavor to it, but it was pretty subtle. Mostly I got cinnamon and sugar with a bit of apple and it reminded me a little of an apple crisp. Still, this ended up being a really nice herbal for the end of my day.

scribbles introduced me to this one as well, i find it very comforting. i also agree wholeheartedly about the blueberries!
