10238 Tasting Notes
Sipped on this earlier in the day – I just filled a drawstring teabag and left it in the mug. The tea never got bitter, so big props for that! In fact, it was almost like the peach notes ended up being a little sweeter and more syrupy, while still having that nice warmth from the ginger.
Cold Brew!
This was my commute tea today – I actually thought the sweet notes of juicy bubble gum and slight apple-y undertone really hit the spot perfectly this morning, but I deeply regret not having prepped something with caffeine last night. It’s been a loonngggg day and I feel like I’m hitting a wall that could have been prevented by more caffeine intake.

Gongfu Sipdown (1068)!
It’s only a temporary sipdown though because I’ve already ordered some more of it for myself!! I’m happy I did so because this Lapsang was reeaaalllyyyy weird but also really damn good!! Firstly, the name is accurate! There’s an acidic sharpness to the top of the sip, and sweeter red fruit note in the body that combined taste eerily like a just slightly under ripe strawberry. It’s also a bit malty and a little woody, with a floral undertone that really picked up a steep or two into the session! Pretty thick liquor, good longevity overall and honestly just unique and interesting! I would totally recommend this to fans of Fruit Bomb, or anyone who just wants to try a really unique and tasty unsmoked Lapsang!

I’ve never tried an unsmoked Lapsang, but I am intrigued, and the application of strawberry to it sounds like a stroke of genius :)
Love your teaware, and that photo in general! I don’t even love strawberries and I want to check this one out! :)
My friend Helen very kindly brought this in to the office for me to try because she thought it was weird and that would interest me – and of course she was right. Canned bubble tea is exactly the kind of thing that seems out there enough to tick that “I HAVE TO TRY IT” urge that I often get…
Normally I think I would have low expectations for something like this – but I recognize the company “Ocean Bomb” from a line up of Pokemon Sparkling Beverages that they do. I’ve had over half the line up of those now, and they were surprisingly good. So I think my expectations were a little bit raised. My reaction is honestly two fold…
Fold number one is that the drink itself is HELLA sweet. Like, it tastes like someone made a Thai Milk Tea, which is already extremely sweet, and then sweetened it some more and that’s the drink. It’s not bad, but it’s extremely cloying and finishing a full can would be hard for me to do. Fold Two is that there are actually “pearls” in the can so the first time I drank one was very shocking and because you’re drinking a milk based beverage your mind automatically goes into curdled milk/unnatural clumping of things territory and it’s perturbing. However, pausing a beat and realising what you’re drinking is a lot better. They don’t taste bad – but they’re clearly agar based and not tapioca, so the texture is more of a tendon-like texture than soft and chewy/gummy. I hate agar based pears because of that texture (I think it’s because, as a non-meat eater, it puts me in an uncomfortable mindset) so I didn’t enjoy the presence of the pearls at all.
Ultimately – would I drink this again? Nope.
Very glad I tried it though because it’s weird and interesting in the best way.
This was my first tea of the morning yesterday, and I felt a bit conflicted all while drinking it. It was VERY delicious and the perfect mesh of buttery and creamy vanilla and pastry with soft and supple white peach notes – however I was feeling very nauseous and this is a really rich tea so I kept going back and forth on if I actually wanted to finish the mug. It seemed like such an awful shame to toss it, but I was so queasy already…
In the end, I finished the mug and then just took an extra Gravol. It was worth it.
The #SeptemberSipdown prompt for yesterday was to have a tea that fit you as a person/your personality, and I was struggling really hard for what to do for it because it felt like a lot of pressure to boil yourself down into one tea…
I ended up asking friends on instagram to help me out by giving me a word or two that they thought described me – I had a surprisingly amount of people contribute, but the words that stuck out and/or were most common were: Weird, unique, curious, and adventurous. Reflecting on those words, I decided that the perfect tea would be something strange/out there concept wise that could capture that unique/weird side but also reflects that I’m the type of person who’s not only willing to try new teas/flavours/experiences/fandoms/etc but who actively seeks them out. Plus, black tea base because that felt right for me as both an extreme lover of black tea and someone who is fueled by caffeine/always tired.
Flavors: Citrus, Citrus Zest, Herbaceous, Herbs, Malt
Cold Brew!
I… am not really sure why I thought cold brewing a tea that it basically butter and apple flavoured would taste good, but I did. However, as my ellipses may have conveyed, it did not taste good. It didn’t really taste bad either, but cold butter flavour is strange and I wasn’t feeling it.

I had this yesterday afternoon while working and it was such a lovely mug – I don’t know when the last time I had this tea hot was, but I think I’ve been missing out a little bit in only having it iced/cold brewed in recent memory. Maybe that’s, at least partially, the change in weather talking? I certainly overleafed the mug because this was a THICK steep, but the delightful syrupy raspberry notes and hints of beet were exactly what I wanted in the moment.

Sipdown (1069)!
Goodbye skunky tasting and unfortunately named Earl Grey that I didn’t like! I wish I could say that you will be missed, but that isn’t true. There were so many good CBD blends from Acme that I enjoyed, and all have been beneficial to me in terms of pain management/sleep aids – but this was sooo not for me in terms of flavour.
Saw this at the grocery store the other day, and was delighted to see a new flavour in this “Sparkling Tea” line up after I was pretty impressed with the Sparkling cherry flavour from Peace Tea. I thought this was really nice as well, though nothing about it particularly reminded me of tea at all – it was more like a very well done light and still sweet/refreshing sparkling lemonade. Happy to have tried it though – the sparkling tea trend has been crazy lately!
