1113 Tasting Notes
I snagged this tea from the Pass the Stash TTB when I went to visit Marzipan the other day.
Mostly this tea is generically fruity, with a hint of that powdery floral that some French flavored teas tend to get. Not my favorite thing ever but I was glad to get to try it :)
Thanks to Marzipan for this cake!
I was confused when I posted this photo on Instagram, I thought it was a shou cake! https://instagram.com/p/01Bot9xh4F/
But no, it is a delicious black tea! I found the flowers to be present but not overwhelming. This is NOT an overly sweet tea. Good stuff and very different from anything I’ve tried before :)
Yay thanks for the sample kieblera5!
I drank this at work earlier but was too busy to write a tasting note. I really enjoyed the sweet/ roasty flavor, with the long lingering floral/mineral aftertaste. Quite a nice Dancong, I think they only one I prefer over this one is the one I have from Verdant tea.
Thank you for the sample Cheri
But MEH…this sheng is not for me. It started out extremely smokey, which, I don’t generally have a problem with but it pretty much overwhelmed the first steep. The following steeps were less smokey but mostly a one note tea and that note is “pleasant bitterness”. Which don’t get me wrong, I like an assertive, even aggressive sheng at times. I just wish there was some sweetness, fruit flavor, or floral aroma to balance it out. Not a terrible tea, just not right for me!
Backlogging from over the weekend!
I got my new little Ru Kiln pot from White2Tea this weekend along with some samples that Cheri sent! https://instagram.com/p/0gyegXRh48/ Thanks again Cheri!
I drank the ChocoShou Saturday night and I really enjoyed it for an aged tea. I’m pretty picky about my older shou and this was a very enjoyable one. Tasted like sweet old library books. Will pick up a tin with the next group order for sure :)
I justify the purchase because I don’t have any other shou with these flavor notes at home and puerh is totally hoard-able ;)
Thank you for the swap sample kieblera5!
This is a very nice green tea. Super sweet, and not at all astringent. Buttered veggie flavors. I always forget how much I enjoy greens when I go long stretches without drinking them regularly. Happy Spring Equinox everyone! :)
Oh no! I’m so sorry TeaVivre! I was generously given this sample for review ages ago and apparently lost it until just now. It was a nice surprise to find though because I really enjoyed drinking it today. It was very sweet and slightly vegetal with a slight roasty flavor to round it all out. There are some mineral notes as well. Extremely nice oolong and so sorry again for the very late review!
