600 Tasting Notes
Slim Tea by Hemani
I drink this tea very hot and steeped for five minutes in a cup of boiling water. After steep time, I squeeze some of the limejuice over the tea and stir it in. It does taste slightly better, either that or I am getting used to the taste.
I am glad that this tea is caffeine free since I drink it almost nightly and the refreshing herbs do have a calming effect upon me. On the tea box it states to add sugar if desired, but I have added a squeeze of lime to it.
I note also written on box: Herbal Tea Slim and Smart. So I am wondering what is smart about this tea? I have yet to see inches melting away and now I must look for the “smart” in the teacup.
No laughing matter, I am considering all of these things as I drink this tea.
Preparation
Ruby Red Chai (Spiced Rooibos) by Trader Joe’s
I decided to try this Spiced Rooibos as a true Chai recipe. I mean to have it with non-dairy product like milk. I had purchased some Rice Dream, a Trader Joe’s brand to practice making different Chai recipes. Today, I used two tea bags, a small cup of the Rice Dream and a ½ of small cup of water. I pour the water in small pan and placed the two tea bags into the pan, waited for it to come to boil, I added the non-dairy Rice Dream and stirred mixing the flavors and soy together. It smelled wonderfully sweet. I smell more of the cinnamon and cardamom; it seems adding the Rice Dream brings out the other flavors more than without it. Since I can now discern the ginger and the cloves—making it somewhat licorice in taste.
I think just one tea bag and a small cup of Rice Dream cooked for 3 minutes or until slightly boiling would have sufficed and adding the water is for more tea or to not have it be too thick.
I cannot drink too much of this since my stomach is so sensitive; but I truly believe that Chais are meant to be drunk hot and with milk or soy or some similar non-dairy drink; it needs some thick cream; for the texturing and to make the tea’s liquor to have a character that is a fuller brew and quality.
Preparation
Green Tea (Specialty Teas) by Trader Joe’s
I have not had this brand of green tea in over a year. I am so happy to have it again. It is such a simple cup of tea that brews a golden color and smells very vegetal and has a fresh grassy scent. Tea is not bitter but medicinal in quality since this is what I am craving at this time; my morning ritual is to have a simple cup of green tea and nothing else matters. It must be very hot and steeped longer than recommended during 2nd and 3rd steep.
Overall this is my favorite store brand green tea because it seems to please me just rightly so.

Slim Tea by Hemani
I find that adding the slices of lime/lemon to this tea does improve on the taste, in that it is more tolerable for this person’s palette. I can’t say that I am seeing results with regards to shedding the pounds off.
I must face the truth, I eat and sample too much. So it is not the tea’s fault but mine own.
The tea is same color as the box; golden yellow conjuring warmth, not so much a cup of warmth but to one’s healthy benefits with choice in the foods consume perhaps. I drink this tea so that I can say I finished the box, if for nothing else.
Preparation
Senna Herbal Tea by Hemani
I always brew my teas longer than is recommended once having had it for a while. So it is customary that when having this tea I left to steep for five minutes. I find enjoying this tea is best just before bedtime. I like how the herb relaxes me and the aroma is soothing; not mint at all. It just makes me think somber thoughts.
It brews a golden liquor that glows throughout the cup and unlike the Slim Tea that I have alternately with this one the taste of this Senna is a much more somber tea and remains true to the cup’s last sipping.
I have purchased this tea a few times now and hope to continue to do so; if not in the Hemani store than possibly online although the shipping handling charges I can do without.
Preparation
Ruby Red Chai (Spiced Rooibos) by Trader Joe’s
The tea’s color is a vibrant red and smells so wonderful that just the aroma alone is enough to awaken the spirit. I followed the instructions and decided to have this tea plain with nothing added at this time. I feel it is worth smelling the ginger, nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon; they all mingle so very well. The clove, I always compare to the nutmeg and allspice and this may be that I have not used allspice on its own. So this is a foreign spice to me.
I like that this tea makes me feel warm and alive right away from the simmering cup to the tasting and drinking of the tea. I think this tea will be something I will arrive and come to when needing comfort and strength from the harsh environment out there; not nature but men.
I forgot to mention that the teas are individually wrapped in a clear plastic bag so you can see the teabag and string; this is done to preserve the fragrances until being used. I am guessing this since it is not explained as to why. I have had Trader Joe’s teas and they are usually individual loose teabags in rows within the box; with no other covering.
As stated on the package: This tea is chock full of antioxidants and warms the body, soothes the mind and heals the soul. I can attest to this from having had several cups of this tea today.
I had not been in a Trader Joe’s store for a long time so this was worth it. Thank you!

Slim Tea by Hemani
I have been drinking this tea each evening prior to retiring and so far no results to brag about. I can say this diet is failing; no pounds or inches coming off, rather it is compounding.
I diet because I do all of the cooking at home and sample the food while baking, so it adds to the waistline if one is not careful that is all I mean. Dieting for me is about maintaining and not gaining.
I am adding lemon/lime slices to this tea tonight hoping to stifle the taste, well to improve it to tolerable.
Preparation
Regular Green Tea by Forrelli
Whenever I am feeling cheap and not wanting for more than a plain cup of tea, I have been turning to this green tea. I put two bags in a cup and pour boiling hot water into the cup and left to steep for five minutes. I took out some honey and lemon to fancy this up a bit.
I realize it would have been best to put the honey at the bottom of cup and to squeeze some of the limejuice prior to pouring the boiling water as well. Anyhow, I added these items to the steeped tea and stirred until it seems to have mixed evenly with the tea.
I must say for wanting a simply made cup of tea, this is quite nice. The lemon/lime makes me think of chamomile and the honey adds smoothness and enriches the tea. This is so lovely indeed and I am thankful for having tried it.
Preparation
Genmai-cha Green Tea with Roasted Brown Rice by Yamamotoyama
I brewed this tea for 3 minutes as instructed and I am delighted with the soothing aroma rising up to meet my nostrils. The steaming cup of roasted rice of the Genmai-cha is absolutely wonderful.
I have this tea whenever I am find myself craving for a cups of oats since this always makes me think of oats and I am not sure why that is. I like this brand and this tea very much.
Preparation
This is very inexpensive tea, as I wanted something other than the store brand Green tea that I usually purchase. Anyhow, this is not as nice but suffice nicely for a cup of hot water with slight astringency; taste more medicinal as green tea ought to be.
I am saying I expect green teas and some others to taste more like medicinal for curing my ales and aches, as I have quite a bit.
