513 Tasting Notes
Another good tea to try for the evening! I was prepared for sweet, so I did not sweeten the tea initially. My mistake, it did need some sweetening after all! Once the sweetener hit, the cake notes started to pop and a comforting warm sweetness appeared. I did not get pineapple, but I did get the caramel notes other people got. This one actually reminded me quite a bit of David’s Tea Birthday Cake, not because it tastes identical, but because it has some similar sweet note undertones. I was actually very impressed with this tea when all was said and done! It was a good, solid cup of tea!
I can not believe I am actually going to review a tea that I did not source from David’s tea, all in all, this was a good introduction to another tea company! I liked it, I didn’t love it, but I think it is a good tea I could come to really enjoy brewing up. On the plus side, it had an amazing flavour. I got the orange, I got the chocolate, and their, at the bottom of the flavour profile, the tea shone strong. I did add a bit of sweetener to really make my flavours shine and it was a pleasant cup. However, I did find that the taste seemed a little watery. Great flavour, but not quite the intensity I love. Next cup, I am going to try extending the brew time a bit and see where that gets me!
Now this was more what I was hoping for in a mango tea! Nice, light, and fruity! I didn’t get a lot of the white tea flavour, not a bad thing in my world, but the mango taste was clear and strong. I drank this hot and unsweetened and loved it! I could see myself enjoying this a lot more often!
Gave this a longer brew time this morning and found that it really enhanced the earthiness of the base tea. Not sure if this was a good thing or not? It was certainly a more complicated flavour, but I loved the simple orange notes highlighted by a shorter steep. I still really liked it, but I might try playing around a bit more with steep time to get the flavour just the way I like it.
Took this iced to work today. I got lots and lots of chamomile with a hint of mango. I liked it, but it was not what I was expecting. I had hoped that the mango would really shine through, but the chamomile really took center stage. Now, I do like chamomile, so this was not a deal breaker for me. This is a tea I will revisit, but I was not as crazy about it as I had hoped I would be. I think I am going to have to give Mango Madness a shot next in my search for the right mango tea for me!
Had a tiny sample of this to try and I was super curious to see if it could live up to its hype. To my great pleasure, it did!! It was buttery smooth, sweet, yet still light. It was perfectly sweet on its own (and I almost always need to sweeten my hot blends). I was so enamoured with it, I even steeped my leaves twice! (And I never do that!)
Wow! This was amazing! Had a super long day today, walked in the door absolutely finished, and this was just the pick me up I needed. The bf and I were really worried about the pu’erh base of this tea. We spend much time sniffing the sample my friend had generously given me asking each other if we could smell fish. One taste of the tea liquor though and I was sold on the blend. A bit of sugar and it does really taste like a chocolate orange. Smooth, citrusy and chocolatey – amazing!! I really do not have room for more “must have” teas, but this one is really tempting me!!
Okay, I did not have a good steep at all with this tea today! The first time I tried it, it was so mellow and smooth. Today I did a longer steep and it almost tasted burnt? Or coffee like? Was it the chickory? The mate? I am so confused. Maybe I really, really need to watch the steep time on this one, because this was not a good cuppa tea…
The more I drink this, the more I like it. I am struggling with the start of a back to school cold (a perennial teacher’s pitfall), so I am guzzling tea by the gallon today to try and flush my system out a bit. This did the trick for me, hot with not sweetener it was a cup of strawberry goodness. I find the rhubarb is really apparent when cold brewed (adding a big tart note), but, brewed hot, the strawberry really shines (making for a very juicy berry heavy brew).
