513 Tasting Notes
I indulged in a cup of this last night after a chilly fall walk. This time I decided to try a bit more sugar. Unfortunately, apparently, while I like a bit of sugar to help enhance my teas, I do not like a lot of sugar to overly sweeten the drink. Oh well, lesson learned, and this tea is pretty forgiving so it still tastes good even if there is far too much sugar.
Colour me surprised, I actually really liked this tea. I had been fully prepared to hate it (I don’t like pistachios whatsoever). But this blend was so creamy and almost green tasting. I loved the sweetness of the mulberries and the creaminess of the nuts. I am on a tea no-buy period until I finish some David’s, but this is super tempting! I find I am loving the nut blends, they really make for a nice tea! Forever nuts is a huge hit in our house and I am liking this for a lot of the same reasons.
Tried this again today. Definitely more of a fan now that I know what to expect for flavour. I also tossed in about a quarter scoop of lemon myrtle- which worked amazingly well to bring out the lemon in the mint blend. I think I will be cold steeping it like this more often!
Got a sample of this in a recent order and thought I would give it a shot. My friend is absolutely raving about this tea, thinks it is fantastic, so I wanted to give it a fair shot. I went in knowing I am really not a coffee fan and I am iffy on mate, but intrigued by all that this tea promised. I brewed it up and tossed in a pinch of sugar just to be safe then let it cool a bit… and might have forgotten about it. No worries though, I managed to catch it as close to the perfect drinking temp. I took my first sip and thought okay, this is drinkable. Not my fave by far, but definitely not a bad blend. I am not and never will be a fan of coffee, so I was not destined to love having it in my tea. That being said, the tea was well blended and I think it was an interesting idea, just not for me!
How have I not reviewed this before? Along with Guava Cadabara, it is one of my favourite teas to cold brew in my Timolino. This is such an easy tea to brew. Nothing fussy, just pure passion fruit flavour. It performs phenomenally when cold brewed, but just as well when brewed hot then poured over ice. I don’t know that this would be a great hot tea, but I love it as an iced brew!
Great steep with this tonight! Sweet, but not too sweet. I definitely got a hit of butterscotch flavour, but there base tea note also shone through. I liked the balance of semi sweet, but not candy or chocolate, level of sweetness in the tea. It is a nice staple tea to have in my cupboard.
Things I am learning about this tea… Hot steeped the poured over ice, the fruit is the superstar. It shines through in every sip. Cold steeped overnight, hello rooibos base notes, there you are! This tea turned almost vegetal with the longer steep time. First sip I was not impressed in the slightest, but, with a little time (and me waking up), I really, really began to enjoy the flavours the tea was offering. Honestly, I am a bit surprised. I would not have thought this would have appealed to me, but I loved it. I will be taking this to work more often!!
I have a bit of a sinus cold and that is throwing off my taste just a little, so I tried a cup of this after work. Just what I was looking for, straightforward, uncomplicated berry goodness. I really love the tartness the berries achieve without actually being overly sour. I enjoyed my cup and need to try this one hot more often!
