141 Tasting Notes
Unlike some other Pu’erh blends (coughohchristmastreatcough), the earthy beast has yet to make an appearance for me in this tea. I’ve had it a few times as a sample, now I have a large tin that someone offloaded on me. The grapefruit and ginger combo is so strong and I love it that way. I know that’s not the point of having a pu’erh-oolong blend, but I gravitate towards strong ginger and citrus flavour so it’s not bad in my books. Multiple steepings kind of numbs my tongue from all the ginger power.
Thank you Ellyn for the sample!
This blend is spicy but kind of bland. I don’t taste any pumpkin, mostly cinnamon and other spices with honeybush. It’s not bad, but I had to steep it for a really long time to get the strength I was looking for. Glad to have tried it though! It makes me wish Pumpkin Chai from DavidsTea was spicy like this.
Preparation
My folks moved to the US in May so my Christmas present came from fed ex instead of santy clause. Inside was a box of this tea from my mum. Thanks mummy!
I dig the cinnamon and plum aspects of this tea, but the ginseng sent me running for the hills after the first cup. It had quite a sharp ginseng bite at the very beginning of each sip, which I wasn’t prepared for, but everything else about this tea was pleasant. I really want to enjoy this tea (my first Harney and Sons) but I need to get in a pro-ginseng headspace next time I try it out.
Preparation
Tastes more like cardboard with every cup. I think I am ALMOST done, maybe two cups left and then it’s a permanent sipdown (or whatever the kids say these days).
Blech.
I’m only drinking so many cups of this tonight to get it out of my cupboard.

This a very green oolong with a taste that borders on floral rather than buttery. The dry leaves smelled very much like veggies, but that subsided with the first steep. I am brewing this in my steeper mug, and it is perfectly yummy. This has a gentle sweet aftertaste that makes my mouth feel very clean for some reason, lol. Very refreshing!
2nd steep brings the huge leaves out of hiding. Flavour from the first steep is duplicated in the second. This looks like a hearty tea!
Preparation
Absolutely delicious Dragonwell, and a premium grade at that! I had never tried a Dragonwell before, to my recollection. The leaves were quite big and bright green, which I love. A few tsp in the gaiwan provided several infusions; I think I stopped at around 7. The taste was sooo nutty and fresh! Definitely the nuttiest green tea I have had the pleasure of trying. I’m hoarding the small bit I have left.
Thank you TeaVivre for the sample :)
Preparation
I won’t rate this, but I thought it would be amusing to note that SOMEHOW when I brewed this up (western) it smelled exactly like cow manuer. I kid you not. It was amazing and revolting at the same time.
Don’t ask me how.
Preparation
I’m willing to bet it was more my nose than the tea. The rest of the sample is going to a good home!
A nifty green tea. I am really enjoying the nuttyness of this green, and it gets smoother with each steep. I stopped at six infusions this evening, and gulped down each glass faster than anticipated. Delicious. Verdant’s greens are really impressing me!
