Aroma of the dry leaf is of vanilla and nutmeg – yum! But I think the mate overpowers the flavouring when brewed – or, I overleafed/oversteeped. Actually, I’m willing to bet I did that, because I didn’t consider that this is quite chopped up. I’ll have to be more careful next time, because this was definitely promising to start!
Upping the rating from 78 to 85 here… for the second time, I was pleasantly surprised with this tea – and this time I definitely tasted the sage (although I misidentified it as rosemary, whoops). I just really liked the apple flavouring here, and the sage added a fun and different dimension. Yum.
Not going to lie, picked this up because of the name and because I adore Gray’s Teacake Kukicha… even though I knew there wouldn’t be any resemblance. However, I actually liked it more than I expected. The combo of cinnamon, vanilla, green tea and fruit made for a unique flavour that was smooth and warming – but not your classic Christmassy flavours.
Completely delicious cup of limey fluff today. And I’m making sure to drink and resteep it today – for whatever reason these lime teas seem to get a little bit funky like some herbals do, making them pretty gross the next day (which is a total tragedy when it’s such a tasty tea like this!)
Unrelated, I saw DavidsTea brought back Lime Gelato and I have a cart ready with so many nostalgic teas I definitely do not need!
Note for the recent(ish?) reblend of this one. And it is so yummy – the aroma is bang on what I remember, and the flavour is pretty darn good too (the base is a little different – I think I liked it a bit more on the first infusion, but it’s releasing some astringency in the second infusion). Either way, delicious, familiar, comforting tea.
Sipdown 2020! 30/365
Was this from Sil? I’m not sure. I’ve had it for a while, and sipped it down last night – what a surprise! I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it reminded me a lot of roasted barley(?) teas I’ve had previously – really tasty, with lots of toasty, hay-y flavours. Kind of similar to hojicha or a rice-heavy genmaicha, but nuttier and toastier. All of a sudden, this is on my to-buy list…
Oversteeped the second infusion a touch, but it’s still totally drinkable, with lots of flavour. Not sure it will last for a third infusion, though.
