Creme brulee is my favorite dessert, so I was hopeful about this one. Maybe too hopeful? To start with, this is the weirdest smelling tea ever. It’s overwhelmingly sweet, but also strangely woody or medicinal. It could possibly be the rooibos but I’ve never smelled anything particularly like this. The look of the leaf is also super weird with the long pieces of rooibos. They look like tiny pine leaves.
As for the taste, this one is somewhere in the middle for me. I do get the creamy, custardy note but overall it just tastes like burnt sugar. It improved when I added milk. It’s not bad, but it’s not terribly good? It smells nicer when brewed than it tastes. I’m regretting purchasing a full 50g. Quite frankly I can see why no one has recommended this to me in David’s or elsewhere.
