I received this tea as a free sample along with the Ailaoshan tea that I purchased from Whispering Pines and I actually like it better! The chocolate flavor is considerably more pronounced – deeper. Toasted rye, apricot and white pepper flavor notes as listed by WP were all present and accounted for. I also picked up on caramel and a pleasantly sweet carrot taste.
This is a cup that you just don’t want to ever end! North Winds is the newest must have in my tea pantry.

Flavors: Apricot, Caramel, Carrot, Chocolate, Cocoa, Pepper, Rye, Sweet, Toast

Hey there! Because the old version of North Winds had a LOT of reviews, and the new version is so significantly different and better, I added the new one as its own tea. If you could copy/paste your review and rating onto the new page, that would be extremely helpful to me. Thanks so much :-)

Here’s the new page: http://steepster.com/teas/whispering-pines-tea-company/55030-north-winds

Thanks so much!

Very interesting. I can honestly say that I have never tasted a tea anything like this one. Very unique character. I just didn’t get very much in the way of chocolate notes. It’s there, but very subtle. What surprised me most were the floral, almost rose notes – Almost Darjeeling-like, but not a trace of astringency. The anise/ licorice notes surprised me too. Adding to the eclectic mix were pronounced notes of wood, plum, and an orange cream flavor.
Although this tea is absolutely nothing like I had anticipated (The chocolate notes being ever so subtle) I thoroughly enjoyed every sip. The pleasantly complex uniqueness of the flavor should definitely be experienced. Very nice indeed.

Flavors: Anise, Autumn Leaf Pile, Chocolate, Cream, Flowers, Licorice, Orange, Plums, Rose, Sweet, Wood

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 3 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

This Yunnan is a rich, full bodied tea with cocoa, honey, sweet potato and raisin sweetness. The chocolate jumps right out at you. You don’t have to search for it. This tea is a prime example of why I love Chinese teas so much. Bamboo Temple is the perfect autumn cup and would do justice to a fine Thanksgiving Day dinner served with or after dessert.

Do yourself a favor and worship at The Temple. You’ll be thankful you did!

Golden Monkey is a tea that is to be savored – The perfect tea for a long, lazy Sunday. I will always have some in my pantry.

In the familiar old desert island scenario, Margaret’s Hope Estate Second Flush Darjeeling would, without a doubt, be my one tea of choice. To take it further, I believe that tea lovers who have lived a good life, upon arrival in heaven, are handed a cup of this ethereal elixir by St. Peter at the pearly gates. This Darjeeling is most exquisitely luscious – Hauntingly floral with a pronounced sweet muscatel flavor. Honey, fruit and nut flavors add to the pleasant and soft complexity with a mild astringency at the end that I find quite enjoyable. This is my perfect tea.

Flavors: Astringent, Floral, Fruity, Honey, Muscatel, Nuts

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 2 tsp 14 OZ / 400 ML

Just this morning I brewed a pot for an impromptu tea party with my sister who is ordinarily a coffee drinker. She loved it! It’s deep and malty with an unmistakeable nutty flavor that totally satisfies every time. Twinings English Breakfast Tea is like a dependable old friend that you can trust and confidently introduce to others.

“Anyone who has used that comforting phrase ‘a nice cup of tea’ invariably means Indian tea.” – George Orwell

Darjeeling is the tea that inspired me to begin my beautiful journey through the wide world of tea and will always reign supreme in my tea pantry! My first tea love, so to speak. I positively adore a truly great Darjeeling – Especially a good muscatel second flush! Autumn flush Darjeelings, I believe, have been under appreciated. I quite love them as well.

Indian tea is my overall preference, and second only to Darjeeling comes my next great tea love – Assam. Assam tea, especially a great second flush, single estate Assam can be exquisite. A malty, fruity and sweet, high quality, tippy Assam with subtle notes of cocoa sends me into tea ecstasy!

Apart from Indian tea, I cannot resist an excellent Keemun or Yunnan Dianhong tea. I must also admit to an appreciation of fine Ceylon teas – Especially high-grown Ceylons and top drawer low grown Ceylons. Ceylon teas make superb iced tea, I think.

As far as scented teas go I particularly love Earl Grey tea blends as well as vanilla, caramel, almond and floral flavored teas. That being said, I seldom drink flavored blends on a regular basis.

I tend to enjoy rich and robust breakfast blends too – Love a nice English Breakfast tea. Though I generally stay away from most bagged teas, I think that Yorkshire Gold is a delicious British brew!

I’m quite fond of various herbal teas too – Crazy about rooibos!

Organic tea is my preference whenever possible.
