1759 Tasting Notes
Had a cuppa in store. Not terrible. But not nearly as delicate as I’d like. Or punchy. or accurate to nectarine! more peachy, I think. No sugar added and it got quite sweet towards the bottom of my cup. Hmmm.
Wouldn’t mind trying it as a cold brew sometime. Maybe.
I’m finally at a place where even though my consumption is hugely down, I don’t feel compelled to buy more! probably a phase heh.
I think now I can focus on drinking some teas down to a point where I feel I can actually justify a new purchase instead of feeling guilty for it. Perhaps that’s because fewer cups make me appreciate the ones that I do have that much more? Either way, this is a good place!
As for my Special Dark, I will cry when this one is gone…
Borrrrrring. So glad I had only a sample of this. It was all coconut and pretty much nothing else. Not any different than most coconut teas I’ve had and I couldn’t even tell that it was an oolong. Bleh.
Also, I found it overly sweet. Nuff said.
It could do well as a thai soup base. Maybe.
I just got some of this today. I had recalled it as a sample not too long ago and not being impressed, but I wanted to play with it at home. So I have like 2-3 steeps worth. Might try it as a latte.
I had a latte today, from the store. I don’t know if I mental prepared for it to be better, or if it as a latte was just comforting on my way home as it was quite cool and windy, but I really liked it. I think it was still a little weak, but I think the latte treatment brought out more of the cream pie aspect, and I think the coconut was a little stronger. I wonder how this would be if you used a bit of actual coconut milk in it….
I might consdider buying a bag of this to latte it. It was definitely more indulgent feeling this way.
ugh. so so tired! I slept a LOT yesterday and I’m exhausted. These meds are making me feel better in one way, not so much in another. I’ve noticed though that I get a serious boost of energy when I “activate” myself with some caffeine… or else I could truly sleep the whole day away. So I guess I should figure out how to bring some with me to work!! eeeps.
Maybe not this particular one though. I had it sans sugar or milk, and it was just ok. A bit bland but then I’ve always preferred Assam over Ceylon. I’ll try it again with some additives.
Solo, I found it was rather mild with the standard coppery woodsy taste. Smooth. Well rounded. But missing something.
Indulged during our board meeting this afternoon. It really hit the spot, and had that lovely drying sensation that I find so addictive in TKYs. I’m glad I had a whole pot. Oh and the server was kind enough to give me the second steep in a to go cup! I was happy with that, as I’d have otherwise had to discard the leaves and thus my fave part of oolongs :)
The entire day has been about food it seems. Smoked salmon salad, Greek phyllo spinach pastry, naturally supper sweet strawberries, cored and stuffed with chocolate chips… Yup. So delicious. If you live in Toronto, get to the Danforth stat, there’s a fruit/veg shop there that has the best berries I’ve had in years, and they were 2 for $2. The regular size clear plastic containers. Very worth it!
Bleh. Apparently my tastes have changed since I tried this four years ago. Or they adjusted the blend. It was overly sweet and not in a satisfying way at all. I’m glad I got a to go cup, so never brought any home. Atleast it seemed to have taken care of my sugar cravings for the day. Bonus.
Speaking of… Between my two jobs and attempt at a social life, my poor cupboard is neglected this month. I managed to have a few cups over the weekend but my consumption is wayyyyyyy down. Somehow making tea in to go tumblers isn’t something I can easily do, and I try not to take much time making it at work, gotta look busy!
I guess I’m a weekend drinker now!
Ohhhh so good. I need more!! this was just a sample. Perhaps a small purchase can be a sipdown goal reward?
Oh man was this ever tasty. I’ll be going back for another soon. I wonder if they sell the tea loose for brewing at home?
I wouldn’t say it was the best matcha ever, but well balanced and quite flavourful. The colour was rich and dark green. Very smooth. Almost velvety (it was a latte).
I am so tired. Two really great part time jobs fell in my lap and I’ve been scrambling to keep up with them. One of them is only for eight weeks and the other is somewhat random/oncall so it seems that some weeks I’ll be working fulltime hours and others halftime. I think it is just the training that has me down. Oh and the fact that Mums bday was last weekend. And then she retired from her job of 35 years yesterday. and we’re helping take care of our neighbours dog every other evening while they deal with a family situation.
So yeah. I’m tired. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, spending the day at my boyfriend’s place. I just hope we don’t nap it away!!
Sounds like you could do with a nice long extended sleep. I hope that is in the cards for you sometime soon.
Aha! I figured this one out.
For some reason I steeped this at a slightly higher than normal temp. Probably around 87 or so. Maybe 85. And it was amazing! very sweet and flavourful. A nice balance between berry and vanilla.
This one never really impressed me before, and I’ve been experimenting… mostly with lower temps, not higher ones. So I never bothered writing a review.
Also, the description is right, the leaves are huge, but broken. Not many whole ones.
Anyhow, will see if I can make this one sparkle again soon :)
I liked this one, especially cold!
I tried it cold as well. Err, cooled down rather. I think it was just an old bag maybe. Or defunct in some way. This way I can still think of it fondly and hope my next time is better :D
