Backlog 2/17/19 – 6" of snow today.
I had a much different experience today than last time (did it need to rest?).
212F, 2 min, 12 oz – orchid, lilac, soft, sweet – chocolate
2 min – soft, floral, sweet aftertaste
3 min- chocolate, sweet, floral

Liked it much more today and it is much more like what I wanted when I ordered it.

Flavors: Chocolate, Floral, Orchid, Sweet

Backlog. From the oolong group buy – that has a lot more roasted oolongs than I thought.
200F, 2min, 12 oz
dark malt, stout, high roast, nutty sour
The roast on this has chilled, but it’s still too roasted for me. The level of roast is very high. I don’t find this level enjoyable.

Flavors: Malt, Roast nuts, Roasted, Sour

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 2 min, 0 sec

Sorry it wasn’t your cup of tea ;) This tea is best brewed in suitable clay and at full boil. I use a 50-60% fill with dry leaf for an intense traditional gongfucha experience in 25ml cups!

Sipdown. Backlog 2/13/19
4 min, 200F, 12 oz
I wonder if I missed the mark with the tea or my tastes have changed. Green and floral, soft and clean. Seems like an entry level green oolong. I want more from it than it has. I’m kind of disappointed because I know I liked this more previously, but it’s not that good.
Slightly better at 195F for 3 min – a little sweeter. Still pretty generic.

Flavors: Floral, Green, Sweet

Backlog. Sipdown 2/10/19
212F, 12oz, 3-4 min
This tea is better with longer steeps. I find the shorter steeps to taste too much of dirt and dank. Which is very true to name, but not in my desired flavor profile. Long steeps smooth out the tea.
Dark earth, sweetness, cocoa, with a lingering sweet aftertaste.

Flavors: Cocoa, Earth, Sweet, Wet Earth

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec

200F, 2min, western
Smells of roasted wood. It has a fruity sweetness, though faint. Creamy. I like this one a lot. It’s tasty and consistent from steep to steep.

Sipdown. Western, 2min, 200F & 2 min, 190F
I liked this better done western than gong-fu. The overall flavor smoothed out. Woody, roast, barely sweet. It got sweeter as it cooled, but also more roasted. So not a plus, better drink it hot.

Flavors: Roasted, Wood

Sample sipdown! Osmanthus is the overall flavor of this oolong. However, this flowery tea is not to my taste. I find it to be a pretty one dimensional. Thanks for the share delighful kiwi

Profile

Bio

I started my tea journey with Stash/Celestial Seasonings tea bags years ago. All loose leaf, unless I’m sick or traveling.

I like black, oolong, white, herbals, and raw/ripe pu’erh. I don’t drink green tea often.

I play video games, read, and do pottery. My current favorite tea mug is one I threw and glazed.

I generally review teas twice – initial and final steeps.

My cupboard is mostly up to date.
